Fabletics is a monthly fitness apparel subscription co-founded by Kate Hudson. You can shop Fabletics in two ways—you can shop the regular store, or you can sign up for their VIP membership. VIP memberships work like this:
- Take the Fabletics quiz, which will let the company know your size, style, and fitness needs.
- Each month, Fabletics will curate looks that match your preferences. According to the website, outfits start at $19.00 for new members. (I'm not sure if "new members" refers to just your first order, though.)
- Shop those looks at 40-50% off what you'd get just paying retail, or skip the month. You have to make your decision by the 5th of the month. If do neither, the $49.95 monthly membership fee will be saved to your account as a credit, which you can put towards other outfits later.
- As you shop, you'll also earn points that can be applied to accessories and other cool fitness essentials.
The key takeaway here is that this subscription won't automatically send you monthly packages like other services do. You have to hop into your account and either decide to add items to your card or skip it. Subscriptions can be canceled at any time, though you do have to call into Fabletics customer service to do it.
My Subscription Addiction paid for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).
The Subscription Box: Fabletics VIP Membership
The Cost: $49.95 a month. This price goes towards the cost of the outfits curated for you. The cost of outfits varies, but you'll only be charged for what you choose to actually buy. If you want, you can choose to skip the month, and you won't be charged. If you don't spend your $49.95 nor choose to skip, Fabletics will charge you the $49.95 and just save it as store credit for you to use later.

I got a coupon for Graze in the box, just like last month. If you haven't tried Graze, I definitely recommend it. (You can nab a free sample box here!)
So, last month, I mentioned how a lot of the recommended looks for me (and just a lot of the outfits in general) were above the $49.95 monthly value of the subscription. This month, the situation was the same, and so many of the outfits that were $49.95 were super similar to pieces I already have. They also were doing a lot of weird stuff with cutout details that weren't quite my style. Bummer!
McKenna Top and Leggings - VIP Price $59.95 (Retail Price $109.90)
The outfit I ended up going with was a top and leggings with a value of $59.95. That's almost half the usual cost of the pieces, so it's still a pretty good deal. I really loved the idea of this tee, which has a unique open front to it. Probably 90% of the bottoms I own (be they jeans, shorts, or leggings) are high waisted, and I'm excited to see how this top complements that kind of silhouette. It's kind of a more sophisticated crop top. The top seems like something I could mix into non-workout outfits pretty seamlessly.
The leggings are really cute, too. I've been loving the palm print trend that's been happening this summer (as you'll be able to tell from my sneakers in the photos below, hehe), but I do worry that by next summer (or, really, this fall) those loud patterns might feel kind of passe. So I like that these leggings feature the palm print but in a more versatile silvery-gray palette. The lighter gray has a hint of icy blue to it, and the deeper silver has an almost lavender tone in certain light. They are capris, which aren't my fave, but they're so high quality that there's no way I won't use 'em a ton.
Let's see how they look on me...
Ta-da!
Love your belly button? This is the look for you! The way the panels of the top lay, my belly button is perfectly framed and on full display. I was in awkward adolescent phase during the whole Britney Spears midriff era, so maybe this is the time my humble tummy finally gets to shine... (Or it's just time for me to wear this top with very high-waisted bottoms, hehe!)
I'm really into how nicely this top fits, and how neatly the overlapping sides lay across my chest. I can tell it's well designed and thoughtfully made. I'm a 36B—I wonder if this look would fit the same way on someone with a larger bust, or if it would unintentionally fit a bit more like a crop top. If anyone's tried this look in a larger size (I'm wearing a medium here), or a smaller one for that matter, definitely let me know what your experience was!
I love how Fabletics leggings fit, too. They're so thick, smooth, and roomy where they need to be—I never feel like they're being overstretched or like they're slipping down unintentionally.
Verdict: Fabletics rules! I love the items I got this month—both pieces are a little outside of my comfort zone, but I'm so delighted by how they look and fit. These are more expensive pieces, especially since most of my current workout wardrobe is from the clearance aisle at Marshalls...), but the quality is top-notch. So far, Fabletics is proving very worth it!
