Nestle Smarties - 5 snack size boxes (buy a 4 pack on Amazon for $19.99)
Similar to other candy coated chocolates, these Smarties are really good. I like these because the chocolate is really smooth and the candy shell is really crunchy!
Runts, 1.8 oz - Value $2.16 (Buy a 5 oz. box for $6.00 on Amazon)
I have definitely had Runts before as a child, but not for many years since then. These are pretty good though! They are a fruity, crunchy candy.
Hot Lips in Sweet Cinnamon, 4.23 oz - Value $1.13 (buy a 6 ct of 5 oz bags for $7.95)
Is it me or is cinnamon candy having a moment right now? It’s not a flavor I usually gravitate towards, but these were really good. Like seriously, good! The cinnamon is sweet with a little bit of that spiciness kick too. I need to eat these sparingly.
French’s Poutine Sauce Mix, .75 oz - Value $2.75? (Value based on similar product)
I have never had poutine so I am not entirely sure how the gravy is supposed to taste. This tasted to me like your typical beef gravy, but not quite as beefy. It needed some salt and pepper, but was pretty good for a powdered gravy.
Maynard’s Wine Gums, 1.83 oz - Value $1.49
I usually like fruity, gummy candies, but these had a weird flavor. These weren’t really sweet and were a little too firm and chewy.
Oh, Henry! Chocolate Bar, 1.83 oz - Value $1.29
I had never had one of these candy bars before, but to be honest, it tasted like many others I have tried. The basics of this are peanuts, caramel fudge, and milk chocolate. I liked this, but it’s your basic candy bar.
Mille Feuilles, 1 bar - Value $0.82 (buy a 6 ct. box for $4.89)
While these weren’t necessarily my favorites overall, the pastry used for these was really impressive. The taste was like something you would home make or get from a bakery. I think these were a little too sweet for me overall though.
Spitz Dill Pickle Sunflower Seeds, 3.25 oz - Value $0.99 (buy a 6 oz bag for $1.99)
Ever since I played softball as a kid, I have loved sunflower seeds both in shells and shelled. These days, since I am not on a baseball field, spitting out shells isn’t my thing, but I still enjoy them quite a bit. I have not tried flavored ones before, but these were pretty good. The dill flavor wasn’t overpowering, but just enough.
Frito’s Bar-B-Q Hoops, 1.82 oz - Value $0.37? (Buy a similar 9.25 oz bag of for $3.42 on Amazon)
While I have never had the “hoops” before, I have had this flavor in the regular Frito’s chips. I used to eat these a lot when I was younger, they're definitely a fave.
Old Dutch All Dressed Chips, 1.41 oz - Value $0.69? (Buy an 8.5 oz bag for 4.16, priced based on a similar product)
All dressed chips are a favorite in Canada, apparently the number 1 flavor. “All dressed” means that all of the most popular chip flavors are present in this one chip bag. The flavors include salt, vinegar, barbecue, sour cream, onion, and more. I mean wow, these were crazy good! I will definitely need to have more of these because potato chips happen to be one of my many snack vices and definitely my favorite.
Miss Vickie’s Sea Salt & Malt Vinegar Chips, 1.375 oz - Value $0.58 (buy a pack of 64 for $37.30 on Amazon)
I like salt & vinegar chips, but they are not my favorite. This flavor is just too much for me. When I eat chips, I tend to eat a lot so I prefer a simple sea salt flavor. If I eat too many of these, my tongue feels weird. I know I know, that’s weird, but it’s true.
Christie’s Bits & Bites, 6.17 oz - Value $4.89? (price based on a similar product)
Based on the picture on the front of the bag, I figured these would be similar to one of my favorite snacks, Chex Mix. That being said, it wasn’t. It had similar elements, but honestly, it tasted like nothing. By that I mean no flavor whatsoever. It was very confusing to me because I assumed these would be really good. I was disappointed with these.
Verdict: The cost of this box is $35, but the estimated value of the items this month is $17.16 (not including the Smarties), which doesn't really make this box super worth it. I like that this box gives you some different snacks that you wouldn’t normally have the opportunity to try, but I also have tried some of these snacks so it wasn’t super exciting. I think given the cost of the box, the products could be bigger or Get Canucked could include a few more.
