The Bookish Box is a book-inspired subscription box from the online shop, Appraising Pages.
Originally, The Bookish Box was a subscription box filled with bookish objects only—no actual books involved. Recently, though, they changed up their game and added several subscription varieties to choose from, including one that does have a book inside!
My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).
This review is of the Women's Sized box that includes a t-shirt for $29.99 a month.

This month's theme is Magic and Witchcraft!
Ouija Board Magnet - Value $2.00?
First up we have a big white magnet with a vintage-inspired Ouija board decoder design on it. It's about 3 inches across, so it's somewhat sizable, but it doesn't have a lot of oomph in the stickiness department. It's cool as a bit of fridge decor, though! The magnet was designed by the Bookish Box themselves, but it's not listed on their site anywhere. I guessed it to be about $2.00 since that's about what I'd expect to pay for something like this in a boutique.
A Darker Shade of Magic Art Print - Value $5.00?
Here's another item that is supposedly from The Bookish Box folks, but which doesn't live on their site anywhere. Subscribers get one of the two prints pictured above—they kindly sent us both so we could show both of them to you! Unfortunately, this item was a swing and a miss for me, since I'm not too familiar with this book and since the art style isn't really my thing. Obviously, this illustrator is super talented, but there's something unpolished about these prints that makes me feel kind of "meh" about them. They're also just presented on plain, postcard-weight paper with no mat, nor protective sleeve, nor anything like that. So while they are "prints", they seem a bit throwaway in terms of presentation, which is a bummer. I know I'm pretty particular about what I display around my house, and while I feel bad about it, I'm pretty sure this print will just end up in my junk drawer...
Books Are Magical Hair Tie and Board - Value $5.00?
This combo was a bit of a question mark for me. Unfortunately, with my short hair, I don't have much use for a hair tie, though I love these kinds of ribbon-esque ones. The print (a.k.a. the "board") that this has come with is sort of odd. The design is cool, and the Night Circus quote is inspiring and sweet, but it's not quite nice enough to be a print. (You can see it wasn't perfectly cut on the edges, for one.)
The Night Circus Bubble Bath and Shower Gel by the Soap Librarian, 4 fl oz - Value $4.00?
I checked out the Soap Librarian's website, but all they currently have to offer are bath salts. So I just guessed at the value of this tiny, gift-sized shower gel. I like the pretty magenta color, and the scent is really lovely—it's a deep berry scent with the herbal quality of a fruity summertime tea. Did you notice how the label is designed to look like a book? How cute!
Bad Girl Good Tea in Written in the Leaves - Value $8.99?
As the label suggests, this blend was made specifically for the Bookish Box, so it's not listed on the Bad Girl Good Tea site. I also noticed that there isn't any mention of how much tea is inside this zip-sealed, gold package, so I linked to a similar looking product above (hopefully the amount is equivalent). This tea is very minty. It has a bit of a flowery undertone, but it's not strong enough to come close to the amount of peppermint-iness I'm getting from this blend. I like a peppermint tea, though, so I'm happy!
Deathly Hallows Tea Strainer - Value $14.00?
The closest thing I could find online to this tea infuser basket was listed for $14.00, though I'm not sure this one is of the same quality. The basket feels a little rickety, and the metal seems somewhat inexpensive, but hey, I don't mind having another strainer in my arsenal!
Infernal Devices Shirt - Value $20.00?
I couldn't find this shirt on the Bookish Box site yet, so I linked to something similar. This top, which has kind of a "women's cut" shape to it, is really cute and made of soft, stretchy 100% cotton. The design is a little busy, in my opinion—it makes it hard to read the quote. But this charcoal-colored top is so comfy that I can see wearing it a bunch, especially going into fall (my favorite season for curling up with a book).
Verdict: I like this subscription a lot, but I felt like this particular box relied on a lot of "exclusive" items that didn't carry as much value to me (such as the hair tie "board", the print, and the magnet). The tea is cute, and the shirt is really lovely quality. I just feel like this box didn't feel as "special" as usual. I had to guess at a lot of the values here, but I'm going to say that there's around $59.00 of product here, which is about twice the cost of the box. I'm looking forward to next month's box though since this one didn't wow me as much as usual.
