This month’s country is Vietnam. The packaging and detailed booklet are a great way to start my journey into discovering this month’s treats.
I love the TopTravel section that gives you both a history of Vietnam, cities to visit, and the must-see attractions. Going through the TopPhrase section was so much fun! I was also delighted by the special surprise they included of a red envelope with a quarter inside, a sign of good luck! All of the detail of this box made me feel as though I was really prepping for my first trip to Vietnam.
The booklet also gives a section detailing all of the snacks in this month’s box, so let’s get tasting!
Mixed Fruit Chips (Trai Cay Say), 8.8 oz - Value $6.50
I can’t stop eating these, and with the description saying that these are made ‘without any chemical substance’ I feel like it can be guilt free right?! These are a fairly standard dried fruit chip, but they don’t have the added sugar or salt that you would normally taste. They have a great crunch and you really get the natural flavors that make this bag of chips so addicting!
Sesame Cookies (Me Xung Hue), 5.3 oz - Value $3.50
I was really excited about this snack because it was basically a giant cookie. It was really fun to break off pieces and share with friends, but I was surprised that it wasn’t as sweet as I was expecting. Overall, a yummy snack with a lot of peanut and sesame flavors that would pair well with tea.
Cao Lut Muoi Me Instant Brown Rice Cereal (Thuc Pham Dinh Duong), 7 oz - Value $6.20
I love cereal so I was really excited to see this in the box and that it can be served 3 different ways! First, I tried a few handfuls straight from the bag, and then I tried it with some almond milk and banana slices. Both ways were amazing! To me, this could live in the Rice Krispies family as the healthier and crunchier version!
Peanut Ball Cookies (Dau Phong Da Ca), 4 oz - Value $3.80
I wasn’t sure what to expect from this snack, but it really came in as the shining star! If you bite it in half you will see that this really is a regular peanut with a sweet outer shell that provides oh so much crunch! The combination of flavors was so unique that it made this snack much more than just a peanut. I will be fighting with my husband over who gets to finish the rest of the bag for sure!
Mung Bean Cake (Banh Dau Xanh), 300 g - Value $7
The booklet’s description of this snack got my interest by saying that these cakes are famously known as “cake fit to offer the king.” When I opened the beautiful red and gold box, I was surprised by how many cakes there were, with each individual package coming wrapped in twos. The cake itself is oh so sweet, had a soft crumble like a warm cookie, and tasted like a mixture of cookie dough and shortbread.
Verdict: The TopMunch box is really a hands-on experience from start to finish, and I can’t get over the extra good luck gift! From the beautiful packaging to the detailed booklet on Vietnam, all the way to taste testing each snack. I was excited to see just how much food you got for each item, and really loved each item to the point of eating everything within a few days (can you tell I am a big snacker?)! I was surprised at the calculated value to be $27, which comes in a little short of the $29 monthly cost because this box really impressed me in terms of size and variety of each snack.
What was your favorite snack from the TopMunch Vietnam box? Tạm Biệt (GoodBye)!
