Tutu Royal - Mechanical Engineering - July 2017 Kids Subscription Box

The information card told the theme this month: Mechanical Engineering. It explained the STEM princess characteristic of the month: Talent. It also listed each item in the box and had a small piece of literature about mechanical engineering and a female mechanical engineer named Natalie R. Scott who is an engineer at Walt Disney Parks.

Gear Princess Dress - Value $20.00?

This dress is so much fun! It was nice and lightweight for summer. The cotton tank top and layered chiffon skirt were comfortable and feminine. My daughter thought the glittery crown and gears were awesome. The dress easily fit over my daughter’s head and she wore it all day. I love the STEM look of this girly dress.

Headband - Value $5.00?

The headband this month was wrapped in pink to match the dress and had a pale blue tulle poof on top. Unlike some headbands that are too tight and squeeze the head tightly this one fit very well and my daughter told me she looked “beautiful!” in it. I have to agree, lol!

Time for Kids: Henry Ford By Editors of TIME for Kids - Value $2.64 on Amazon (retail price $3.99)

Each month Tutu Royal has sent a TIME for Kids book which goes along with the theme. These paperback books are filled with interesting facts and large photographs. My daughter has been getting more into nonfiction books because of Tutu Royal and for that, I’m so thankful. This book, however, held no appeal to her. Black and white photos of a man she knows nothing about didn’t grab her. However, I have a six-year-old son who happily let me read this to him. It was very interesting to learn more about Henry Ford.

Kookies by Keirsten Gear Cookies – Value $4.00?

These frosted cookies tasted as good as they look. The glittery border on the gears was a fun touch. My son was happy they sent two cookies this month because my daughter gave one to him. Tutu Royal had it double packaged in a sealed bag and bubble wrap to protect it in transit. We love that Tutu Royal sends a yummy edible treat each month.

Verdict: My daughter adores the Tutu Royal box and I was happy to see how much was included for the $20 (plus shipping) price point. I am estimating the value of the box to be around $31 which I’m very happy with. I like the idea that this box is mixing princess dress-up fun with an emphasis on education, STEM, and confidence boosting literature as well. I also appreciate that with each subscription purchased Tutu Royal donates a subscription to an adoption agency. What a lovely idea.
