Woman Up Box’s booklet is a glossy, colorful nicely done tri-fold. I was very impressed with how well-thought out the booklet was made. The theme for June was “Don’t Worry, Be Happy.”
Each item in the box was photographed in the booklet. There was detailed information offered about each item including the retail price and in some cases websites to get more information and the woman artisan who created the item.
The back of the trifold showed the Woman Up Box mascot named Dolly. It also shared the charity selected this month (Dress for Success Worldwide) that will receive 10% of the Woman Up monthly profits. I think it’s wonderful that a box with a mission to lift women up and support women-run companies and female artisans also donates a percentage of their proceeds to women-focused charities.
Woman Up Box includes a Lift Up card with ideas for lifting up girls, teenagers, colleagues and even yourself. I enjoyed reading their suggestions.
Mala Bead Necklace - Listed Value $24.00
This mala bead necklace is made with both wooden beads and shells. Traditionally used during prayer or meditation this necklace is a nice reminder to take care of yourself. I couldn’t find this necklace for sale so I am using the suggested retail from the booklet. I like the earthy vibe with natural materials, but I don’t think this is something I can see myself wearing much. My friend who teaches yoga owns a few of these types of necklaces and I think passing this along to her would be just the kind of “lift up” that this box encourages.
Strawberry Mint Gelato Sugar Scrub by Feeling Smitten Bath Bakery (6 oz.) - Value $15.50
I will never tire of receiving scrubs in my subscription boxes. I use them almost every day in the shower and love getting new ones to try. This bright pink scrub came in the cutest bakery type packaging with a wooden spoon for scooping. It reminds me of the spoons you get with Dixie cup ice creams. The scent was fruity more than minty and had just the right amount of abrasion.
Notecards and Colored Pencils - Listed Value $12.00
I find coloring to be so relaxing and I often do it either alone at night or even with my kids. These notecards designed by Anna Gaiownik are meant to be colored with the mini set of colored pencils and then mailed to a friend with a note. I don’t see these cards for sale on Anna’s Etsy page so I am using the suggested retail value but I did link to her page so you can see more of her work.
Purse Mirror - Listed Value $4.50
I just spent a good twenty minutes down the rabbit hole that is the chicalookate website looking at her fabulous mugs, mirrors, and magnets. I’ll have to bookmark this site for future gifts for my snarkiest friends. Woman Up Box sent out three different pocket mirror designs. I like the one I got and believe it is true; nothing makes a woman more beautiful than a life well lived. The mirror came in a protective plastic sleeve to keep it from getting smudged in your bag.
Lemon Mint Matė Tea by Flying Bird Botanicals - Value $9.75
This is the cutest packaging! The Brazilian Yerba Matė tea is recommended to be enjoyed both hot and cold and we have been making it as iced tea on these humid summer days. It’s so bright and refreshing and I love that they sent tea bags and not loose tea, as not everyone has a loose tea strainer. This tea is organically farmed.
Lollyphile Lollipops - Value $4.00 (buy 4 for $8.00)
Yum!! This lollipop company in Texas makes the most interesting lollipop flavors I’ve ever seen. While the ones that were sent are pretty tame (though delicious) some of the others listed on the site are chocolate bacon, amaretto and even blue cheese! I enjoy when women’s lifestyle boxes include little gourmet treats and these lollipops were a colorful, fun surprise.
Wild Blackberries Lip Tint - $4.75
This all-natural lip tint is made in Hawaii. It says it has a deep red tint but as you can see on my lips it’s just a natural sheen. That’s fine by me because I prefer a natural lip anyway. I found this balm very moisturizing and pleasant smelling too.
Worrystone - Listed Value $3.95
I used to have a worrystone when I was around 12 years old and I would love to glide my thumb along the cool, smooth stone surface. I don’t know where my old stone went, but I was delighted to find a new one in this box. My son has taken a fondness to it also. We recently moved to a new house and this has been both exciting and worrisome for the kids. This stone has given him a way to alleviate some of his worries at night. Perfect!
Verdict: Well done, Woman Up Box! I think this was a fabulous new women’s lifestyle subscription to unbox. I enjoyed the theme of “Don’t Worry, Be Happy” and felt the soothing items fit it well. There was a nice balance of beauty, lifestyle, edible and accessory items. Nothing felt cheap and I enjoyed finding new women artisans and businesses. I also appreciate their mission to lift women up and give back to charities. The value this month came to over $78 which is well over the $49.95 monthly cost (including free shipping to the US). I am very much looking forward to their box next month!
