Now, on to the items!

Foreo Luna Play – Value $39

(Colors will vary)

If you aren't familiar with the Foreo Luna Play, it's a pulsating device that allows you to get a much deeper clean when cleansing your face. (Similar to a Clarisonic.)

This device is 100 uses and not rechargeable, so a few MSA readers recommended using it as a tool to clean makeup brushes once the battery runs out. Foreo also gives tips for recycling your Play device. (This also came with a coupon code to save $39 off the full-size rechargeable Luna Foreo Device).

It has one speed only, and an on/off button on the back:

I’d been a Clarisonic user for years, but last year I switched to Foreo thanks to the first time I sampled this device!

Both Clarisonic and Foreo do a great job at cleaning my skin thoroughly. (While using the Foreo Play, I did wish that there were different intensity settings like there are on Clarisonic, but these options exist on the full-sized versions.)

The big difference for me is the silicone brush surface area. It's nonporous and will resist any bacteria build up. With Clarisonic, you have to always buy replacement brush heads. (At $22 a new brush head, switched out every 2-3 months, the costs add up!)

And while I have the full-size version already, this is perfect for travel.

Juice Beauty Blemish Clearing Cleanser – FULL SIZE! Value $22

A perfect item to go with the Luna Play!

I’m always happy to get anything full-sized from Juice Beauty in a subscription box! This cleaner is a lathering gel, and it did a great job of cleansing my skin without drying it out. (It has a natural scent that I like, but it may not be a hit with everyone.)

DermaBlend Pro Setting Powder – 5 g Value $4.80

This is everything you'd want in a setting powder: super lightweight, invisible, helps mattify skin, and gives a bit of a blurring effect. I'll use every last gram!

DCL Skin Renewal Complex - 5ml Value $21.65

This is a moisturizer/sunscreen hybrid that provides SPF 30. The formula goes on white, but blends in easily. The finish is a little greasy/tacky at first, but that disappears after about a minute. It doesn't have the classic SPF scent, and I'm having trouble placing the scent. At first, I thought it smelled like white out! Then I thought it smelled like Method Bathroom cleaner! (Let me know what you think it smells like, and if you think I'm losing it from smelling beauty products all day long! 😉 )

DCL Hydra Boost Finishing Serum - 5ml Value $18.30

This formula is a lightweight gel that absorbed almost instantly. It's made with three forms of Hyaluronic Acid, and it was very gentle on my skin. (It also left my skin feeling soft and hydrated - I'm a fan!)

MDSolarSciences Mineral Tinted Crème Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Sunscreen - .25 oz Value $4.70

This tinted creme rubs in to almost clear (not the sunscreen for you if you are looking for medium-to-full coverage), but the finish is fantastic. It's a super smooth matte - almost like a primer.

KERANIQUE Daily Essentials Dietary Supplement - 7 packets Value $11.40

These nutrient packets are designed to help hair grow fuller, thicker, and longer.

There are 7 individual packets inside, and each packet includes:

One Beta-Carotene Boost capsule, and one B-Complete Daily Essentials capsule. (Both are free from all common allergens.) These have a typical vitamin smell (nothing too off-putting) and didn't irritate my stomach. But I can't comment on any hair boost with only a 7-day sample. (Reviews on ULTA are promising, though.)

Perricone MD Super Berry with Açaí – Dietary Supplement Powder - Value $2.50

We're having a beauty supplement month!

This is a powder you mix with 8 ounces of water. It's designed to fight wrinkles AND give you instant energy. (You can't see me right now but picture a skeptical look on my face.)

The ingredients aren't listed on the packet, but I found them online here, and nothing seemed bad, so I made myself a drink!

The powder is purple thanks to all the berry extracts, and the flavor isn't too bad. Nothing I'd crave, but I didn't have a problem drinking it. (It reminded me just a bit of Flinstones chewable vitamins of my childhood.) I can't say I noticed a big difference in energy. But obviously, I noticed zero difference in my skin. (From the reviews I read, it should take about 4 weeks taking this daily to see results in your skin.)

Verdict: This box has a value of about $124. That's a great value for a $24.95 box. This box is clearly a win if you love Foreo and Juice Beauty, so I'm in luck, there. I have no problem getting beauty supplements in beauty boxes (I'm all about collagen powder now thanks to subscription boxes), but two in one box is probably overdoing it.

What do you think of the August 2017 Beauty Fix box?

I entered the Facebook contest to win this box and I won! Can’t believe it! So exciting!

FYI – I was missing the DCL Serum from my box. I emailed customer service a couple of times with no luck, so tried calling. They said they were out of the DCL sample, but offered to send me anything else from the box that I wanted as a substitute. I didn’t want to seem greedy, but thought I might as well go for the Foreo, Juice Beauty or DermaBlend. After a bit on hold, customer service comes back to tell me it’s too difficult to pull one item, so they will just send me an entire box. Wow, way to take care of things and make a customer happy!

Yes.. they have amazing customer service. I was missing an item a while back and they sent me a replacement box too. I wish all subs had customer service like theirs..

I also had an issue with Beauty Fix. I signed up in August (excited about the Foreo), however they sent me the June box. I called them and they sent me a new box (August), and i recieved it 3 days later. The rep was so polite and expedient, no run around or lengthy waiting on the phone. EXCELLENT customer service.

I bought a full size Foreo about 3 years ago. It seems to work okay for me, but I really don’t enjoy the feeling of just rubbing hard silicone on my face every day.

For my dry/sensitive face, I very much prefer the Michael Todd Soniclear Petite that I bought last year.

For those of you who have tried the luna play before, how many uses do you get out of it? Close to the 100 uses advertised?

Reply ButtonReply

Stevie

Mine lasted well over the 100 used but I still use it!

Reply ButtonReply

Britany

Mine only worked for maybe 7-10 uses. I swear I didn’t leave it on, but the button isn’t very hard to press, so I guess it could have happened. I wasn’t very impressed when it did work, though, so I didn’t care that much that it broke :/

I’ve heard such mixed reviews, I don’t know what to think. I’ve been wanting to try it, ever since the Allure fiasco month of Foreo. But I don’t NEED it, and I’m waffling about getting this box just to try it or spending that money on a sub I know I’ll like. First world problems…

StaceStace

Mine went out in about 35-40 uses but it wasn’t the battery. After ripping it apart to recycle I saw that the circuit was completing the connection (best way i can describe it). The company sent me a GO as a replacement. FABULOUS!

I have a $5.00 off code. It is BFIX5AUGDS17.

My cat attacked the Perricone packet and the particles in it were so microscopic it was insane! At first I thought it was cute, him playing with the tissue paper and all, and then I realized he had a hold of that packet. It was all over the table. I just had the box sitting there open, and he attacked the whole box, pretty unusual since he’s an old man cat (lol!). Is the power laced with catnip? I’m just kidding, the episode was funny, except for the clean up.

Barb

Speaking of cats, even my cats don’t like the smell of the Juice Beauty cleanser. I’m afraid they may vote me out of bed. They just smell my face and leave.

Reply ButtonReply

JuJu

Lol, that’s just precious. 😂
“Juice Beauty – cat repellent”.

chris

I adore Beautyfix, but this month I skipped for the first time.
I already have a Foreo Luna 2 already and I am still working through the last bottle of Juice cleanser.
Maybe next month will be better.

I’m curious where you found that the DLC hydrator was a sunscreen? I dont see that on the packaging or anywhere. I am allergic to sun screen so this is concerning. Two sunscreens in one box is over doing it.

I have tried nearly everything in the box and I was really pleased. I love the pink vibrating cleaner, although I don’t really understand how it cleans. I was excited abouty the dr. pericone supliment. I am obsessed with all things dr pericone. I didn’t like the flavor, it wasn’t horriblke but nothing I would want to drink, and I would highly recomend adding more than the recomended amount of water. Over all I am suprised so many people didn’t like this box. I thought it was great!

Click the link. Per DCL’s website, the name of the product is really “Skin Renewal Complex SPF 30 – five in one refining hydrator”.

This is the first time I’ve been truly disappointed with Beauty Fix. Juice Beauty tends to make my face break out, and I find the smell for the cleanser to be pretty awful. I have to be super careful with supplements because of some health issues, so I’m not going to risk it for novelty’s sake when it won’t even be possible to tell if there’s any benefit. The finishing powder is talc. That leaves the foreo, the sunscreen, and the DLC duo as items for me to try. The sunscreen was fine, but the DLC duo is teeny tiny, and I didn’t love the way it made my skin feel. I tried the foreo – it was okay, but I didn’t really notice a difference with the look or feel of my skin. Overall, there was nothing in here that excited me or even really interested me. It actually felt like a super cheap box, so I’m surprised to see the value was so high. I’m not cancelling because I’ve never been disappointed with a BF box before, but if they stay heavy on the Juice Beauty and supplement products, I’ll probably move on to something that’s a better fit. 🙁 Here’s to hoping next month is better…

I absolutely LOVE my box this month!!

Alex

I can’t find much about the DCL brand. I do have rosacea. Does anyone know if its ok for sensitive/red skin?

Reply ButtonReply

Melissa W.

Loved everything!!

Reply ButtonReply

Tara

I loved the box, minus the supplements. I just don’t see the point in including something you need a full months supply on to see if it works for you.

Reply ButtonReply

Rachel

Is there a promo code for this month?

Reply ButtonReply

MicheleDeG

I just ordered this box with the code: BFIX5AUGDS17
I received the code on a post card from them.
It saves you $5 off, but you can only use it on the monthly option. That brings it down to $21.60 with tax! I haven’t ever had a problem cancelling either.
Hope it works for you ladies 😊

I was wondering the same!!

I loved this box and am enjoying everything in it – except:

I used the foreo in the shower with the juice Beaty cleanser…and I think I might have used it too long. I don’t think it was any longer than I’d normally take cleansing my face, but I could feel my face getting warm from the cleanser as I buffed it around with the foreo. I quickly rinsed it all off when I felt that and a few minutes later when I stepped out of the shower and toweling off saw that my face was bright red! I’ve never experienced that before – never had sensitive skin or any reactions to anything. That was a couple of days ago, so next week I’ll try again with just fingers and water over the sink and see if the foreo just intensified things or what. I just wanted to let you all know of my experience in case anyone else has issues.

Reply ButtonReply

Alex

Thank you. I have rosacea do I have to be so careful about everything.

Reply ButtonReply

Siren

I have rosacea and redhead sensitive skin but I already figured this might be one to avoid for me. I don’t have blemishes and typically go with sensitive skin cleanser. I might try normal or dry skin cleanser but I think one designed for blemishes or oily skin is pushing it.

Kate

The first ingredient is lemon juice, I tried it once the first time we got it and it irritated my skin.

Reply ButtonReply

Ambar

That happened to me too. I’ve tried two different Juicy Beauty products and if I leave them more than a minute my skin turns red. And I haven’t had sensitive skin before. I had to stop using them and give them away. It’s a bummer considering they are full size.

Can anyone give me some advice on the Foreo device? I’ve tried it several times now and I don’t feel like it cleanses well if at all. It seems to just move my makeup around rather than lifting it off/ removing it from my skin. My Clarisonic gives me a great deep cleanse that I can’t achieve with my hands but the Foreo performs worse than my hands alone. There is still significant makeup residue on my toner pads after using the device.

Does anyone else have this issue? Am I doing something wrong? Despite its general ineffectiveness in the cleansing department, it does seem to do a good job decongesting my pores. Is this the main use of the device?

(Sorry if these are dumb questions. I really wanted to love this device but I feel like I’m just missing something)

StaceStace

I have the Luna GO, the Luna Play, and a Michael Todd Soniclear. When my face feels extra dirty and needs a good exfoliation, I lean toward the Soniclear. When I need a mild cleansing I use the Luna Go. I didn’t think the Luna did anything for the 1st week but then began noticing my face was getting sensitive towards it…like I couldn’t cleanse as long (if that makes sense). Neither device removed blackheads on my nose and neither device cleared up my chin area. I’ve only been using them both for maybe a month and I’ve been mixing cleansers so I don’t know if I can properly evaluate them.

Reply ButtonReply

Deanne

Yeah you’re not supposed to use it for the initial makeup cleanse. Use oil or whatever to take off your makeup then use cleanser and the foreo. It’s a pore-cleanser not a makeup remover. I use it in the shower 🙂

Reply ButtonReply

Joy

Good to know! Thanks 🙂 I just assumed it should work similarly to my Clarisonic, but apparently not, which is actually pretty exciting. What an awesome way to try out a tool that not only functions differently but also achieves different intended results. 🙂

Luna

I agree with JuJu… probably using the Foreo during a 2nd cleanse would be best. Removing your makeup first with either makeup remover wipes, micellar water, cleansing oil, or a cleansing balm (whichever you prefer), followed by cleansing your skin with a face cleanser & the Foreo will probably produce better results for you.

Reply ButtonReply

Joy

Thanks for the advice! I normally remove my makeup before cleansing but I’ve been super lazy lately. Plus, I’ve gotten out of the habit since I started using Tarte’s Rainforest of the Sea cleanser, which is *incredibly* effective for makeup remover. I use Estee Lauder Double Wear and the Tarte cleanser + Clarisonic leave my face remarkably clean.

I tried out the Luna Play with my second cleanse and loved the results! My nose and cheeks are so smooth. I’m really hoping that the bumps on my forehead, chin, and jaw will improve with long term use.

Thanks again! <3

JuJu

Oh, also, do not press the device into your skin when you are cleansing, because that can be too rough for your skin.

Reply ButtonReply

JuJu

I have the Luna Mini, so not sure how useful my info would be in regards to Luna Play, but personally I only use it already after my makeup is removed. And I do see a difference in, for instance, the blackheads on my nose after cleaning my face with the Luna, rather than with a cleanser alone.
I would definitely recommend a cleansing oil to remove makeup.

Reply ButtonReply

Joy

I tested this out last night and was actually pretty delighted with the results. My nose area felt insanely smooth after using it. Thanks for the tip about the amount of pressure to use as well!

Tat

Not dumb questions. Been wondering the same things myself.

Since I just bought a set of Sigma brushes, I should get this box for the Foreo alone. The full sized Juice is also really good. All the other stuff is just gravy.

Reply ButtonReply

Julie

Both my DCL products were empty even though they had a foil seal on it! I was super disappointed. And the Foreo reminded me too much of a bullet vibrator that I couldn’t use it without feeling very awkward and laughing out loud!

Reply ButtonReply

Luna

This happened to me too, but with a Juara hand cream sample I got in a different box. All I could do was laugh because it came sealed, and when I noticed nothing was coming out despite how much I contorted the tube, I decided to cut it open, and it was bone dry!!! I knew the tube felt light, but not having tried it before I didn’t know better, so I just let it go when I originally received it thinking that’s just how they all felt.

Reply ButtonReply

JuJu

This item did not bring out those associations in me, but the Winky Lux Lip Pill lipstick looks exactly like it! 😀
I couldn’t help chuckling when I received that one.

Veronica

If you’re not a fan of the foreo , youcan always use it to clean you makeup brushes across the surface. Thats how i use mine.

Reply ButtonReply

Jodi

Great idea! With arthritis, I can’t hold onto this Foreo to cleanse my face. After reading your post, figured out a way to use it to clean my makeup brushes. Thanks for the tip!

Veronica

You’re welcome. I’m glad you can get some use from it.

Lauren

Love this box! Finally a bright spot in the month of August!

I think I am one of the very few people who really like everything in the box. I am actually glad that I re-subbed (and I am one of those people who are swamped with beauty).

Nope, I’m pretty much with you (well, except for the juice powder). I have two subs, and am happy.
