In the above photo, you can see the included card, the back of which offers a little information on each item in the box and explains the ways in which they’re ethical.
Organic Apricot Cashew Fruit and Nut Bar, 4og - Value $2.25 (buy a case of 12 for $21.60)
This is a really dense, flavorful snack bar. The consistency reminds me of a Larabar and the apricot flavor is sweet and strong. Given its richness, I decided to eat a few bites before a run and the rest of it after returning home, and it proved to serve that purpose well.
Conservation Bracelet - Value $10?
This bracelet consists of a small pine tree charm held by two pieces of twine and is designed to be knotted on the wearer’s wrist until it falls off after several months. For someone who isn’t interested in wearing the same bracelet every day, it would make a great gift, but it’s also subtle enough that it wouldn’t interfere with other jewelry in my opinion.
I decided to take a chance on wearing it permanently, so I knotted it closely to my wrist. The photo above shows the bracelet before I snipped off the long ends. Make sure you knot it tightly so it doesn’t come unraveled after your ends are cut off!
Black and White Key Scarf - Value $22
This fair trade, lightweight cotton scarf was made in India. It’s a beautiful piece and I love that it was hand block stamped with eco-friendly dyes. While its material truly is light and summery, its cool pattern gives it great potential for transitioning into later seasons.
The scarf measures 22’’ by 75’’— here’s a photo of it draped over my arm so you can put a visual to those measurements.
Verdict: I was really pleased with the offerings in the summer FlourishBox! The contents struck me as very thoughtful and high-quality, and the box itself was clearly packed with care. The contents add up to an estimated $34.25, but I would absolutely pay more for the scarf than what it’s listed as a la carte. Plus, the positive impact of supporting an ethically-minded company has additional worth to me.
