-All 3-4 star hotels
-All different hotels are used depending on dates and destination and what is available
-It is best to book 60 days in advance for best possible selection
-Some black out dates which are the major holidays but we were told if they book 60 days in advance this can sometimes allow travel on the blackout dates
-Some restrictions apply. The customer is responsible for paying taxes and a small one-time processing fee of $39.
Value is hard to determine since it will depend on what destination is picked and the time of year traveling.
-We are paying for the basic package of 1 round trip airline ticket and 2 nights in a hotel and if the customer wants to upgrade, they have that option.

How do we know when supplies run out? Will it warn us during checkout? I’m afraid to spend this much & not at least get to try the voucher. Although the luxurious cashmere hint is tempting

Nana

I would not worried. Apparently promoters get infinite amounts of these vouchers which they sell to companies to give away as promotions for very little

I gave in and bought this. But if any one is interested in trading for the bracelet in the September Luxor Box for any of the items in this box, please let me know! I like that one way more than the Halcyon Days bangle!

Ruth

Not to be greedy, but why are there no Luxor box coupon codes! If this arrived in the first week of October I would pull the trigger instantly because I go to Europe on the 9th and this would be perfect!

Does this sound like one of the timeshare “free trips” to anyone else?

Reply ButtonReply

May

I think you’re right…I’ve been suckered by those in the past before. You have to sit through some kind of timeshare-like presentation in order to redeem your certificate and then there are all kinds of restrictions on it.

Until there are more details about the certificate, I don’t think I’d be able to justify getting this.

Dang it, if it were for 2 people airfare I might just jump on it. I can always find a place to stay…airfare is what stops me from going places!
Although tbh I am now looking up airfare for each of those cities lol!

I’m so tempted but it seems too good to be true…

So I took a quick look online at how vacation gift certificates work and they vary GREATLY. Some are basically scams. When you go use them you find out that the travel dates are limited, that you have the worst room in a sucky hotel and that you need to pay processing fees, extra person fees, resort fees and whatever fees you can imagine – and then they try to upgrade you. Some people complain that they lost hundreds of dollars and went nowhere.

Some companies are apparently more reputable and have fewer of these complaints.

I think at the very least before you are tempted by this gift certificate, it would be good to hear who issued it so you can google the company and see if people complain about it.

I bought this box last week and I’m stoked. I live in the D.C. area so if we don’t use this for ourselves we will use it to fly a friend or family member in to see us.

Mary

I emailed them and all previous purchases & purchases w/in 24hrs of the email will receive the voucher so like me you will receive it in your box 🙂

Never mind! I missed the parentheses!

Reply ButtonReply

Nelliebelle1197

You should probably check to make sure you get it. It looked like only purchases in the next 24 hours

I’m so confused. I would LOVE a trip to any of these cities but with the airfare and hotel probably going to cost them more than the $450 purchase price, what would be the incentive for them here?

Reply ButtonReply

Lawden

I know right!!! I want to bite soooo bad!!! But then I’m like my fiancé would never let me hear the end of it if we get scammed or don’t get the trip and how on earth can they afford this? Like you said what is the incentive for them? I wish I knew someone that actually has been successful at cashing one of these things in!!

Reply ButtonReply

Kari

I just pulled the trigger…..my most expensive box ever!

Reply ButtonReply

Josephine

Do you know if the trip is also valid from Canadian airports?

Reply ButtonReply

Cara

I’m not sure anything really comes “free” and it sets off alarms not posting the fine print. For example, even a “free” flight I booked with points I earned over 2 years cost $12 in TSA fees. I’d be afraid of strange hidden fees in the hotel or the airline or even in the redemption etc. Like someone pointed out, the airfare is 1 person so the airline is already forcing you to buy a second flight unless you go solo. If they limit you to certain times and not let you shop for the cheapest times, you could pay more for 1 person over 2. Plus blackout dates. It feels like when you’re offered “free” wine but then they charge you $50 to ship, etc. But hopefully it works out for everyone! I am curious.

Allison

How much do you want to bet you’d have 3 or 4 connecting flights to travel across country? Lol. What a gamble.

As my father says, “Nothing is free. Money is 100% of the time worth more than what you get for it.”

Hawaii E

You have a wise father !

Reply ButtonReply

Donna

It says the trip includes round trip airfare for one. Does that mean a round trip flight from any city in the US? Is the travel voucher tied to the name of the person who orders the box? So many questions.

Reply ButtonReply

Jenny

Tempting. $450 is a lot but my husband and I have been wanting to go to New York for a long time so I guess it’s worth it. Only if they give us a better idea of what hotels, what airlines, any restrictions of some sort, I may bite the bullet and buy the box (and cancel all my subscription boxes for the next 6 months LOL)

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole

This is currently in my cart, but I need deets!! I read the terms, but they don’t say anything about being able to choose the hotel. I don’t mind flying out on any day but being forced to stay in a dingy motel of sorts is making me hesitant 🙁

Reply ButtonReply

May

I really wish we knew what the hotels and airlines are and what the date restrictions are. Are they only for weekday travel? I live near San Francisco so if it were a decent hotel, just using the certificate for the hotel might be worth it if I couldn’t use the airfare. But I would need to know more about the hotel and dates I could use. This is tempting though…

Reply ButtonReply

JL

This offer makes it tempting, but I am very picky when it comes to hotel accommodations. Without knowing the names of the hotels it doesn’t entice me. For example, I would never stay at a 2 star hotel in the Bronx, even it if was free. Ditto for the airfare restrictions — what is the airline? Do I have to fly out between Sunday and Thursday (therefore eliminating a long weekend trip?)? There are just too many variables for me.

Reply ButtonReply

Bethany

Looking at the fine print on their site it says: “Round-trip airfare for one, 3 days/2 nights’ hotel accommodations for two,” so I guess you would have to pay for airfare for the second person?

Reply ButtonReply

Bethany

Oh heck, I decided to go for it! This will be my first luxe/over $100 box ever, so it was hard to take the plunge, but I really like both spoilers and the trip voucher will (hopefully) be fun to use, even if having to cover part of the airfare. The spoilers add up to $552, leaving $648 left to reach the $1,200 promised value, so I’m hoping for several more great items. The website had a hint about a cashmere travel item too–maybe a scarf or wrap to keep warm on the plane?! Ooh how I love cashmere 🙂 Now comes the waiting for two months for it to ship…

Reply ButtonReply

Jenny

That’s what I’m thinking. I rather have tickets for 2 and not having hotel accommodations so we can choose we want to stay

Reply ButtonReply

Kari

Is there a way to find out the restrictions on the trip before purchase?

Reply ButtonReply

Svetlana7e

“Each Limited Edition box will have a total value of over $1,000” – is this travel certificate part of the total value?

Reply ButtonReply

Liz Cadman

My understanding is that the travel certificate is separate from the total value of over $1000. I will reach out to verify, though.

Reply ButtonReply

Liz Cadman

Following up, Luxor Box has confirmed the box will have a retail value of $1200. This does not include the value of the trip. Hope that helps! 🙂

ME

I was on the fence before & considering this is not considered part of the box I’m in. Not sure it will work but even if just for hotel – good enough.

Reply ButtonReply

Christine

This is very tempting. But I don’t know what restrictions are including in the certificate. I don’t want to get stuck if the certificate only give accommodation in a bad, haunted hotel plus only flight out during certain hours of day.

Reply ButtonReply

Carmen

Did anyone ever received a free trip like this and used it? Does that really work?
