Loot Crate is a monthly subscription box for geeks and gamers. Each month they include themed collectibles and shirts - they've moved towards a mostly exclusive model - so you can't get most of these items/variants anywhere else!

August's theme was Kingdom!

My Subscription Addiction pays for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

The Subscription Box: Loot Crate

The Cost: $15.99 plus $6 shipping a month

ACTIVE DEAL: Build Your Own Custom Crate! No coupon needed - just use this link.

The Products: 4-6 items in Every Crate, $50+ of Retail Value, Licensed & Exclusive

Every month has a different theme, and August theme was Kingdom. It features franchises like Zelda, Adventure Time, and Lord of the Rings!

As always, it includes a booklet that details the items in your box.

Besides showing you details about the items, it also highlights the Looter community.

This month's lid pops out to create your own mini shield.

Coat of Arms Pin - Value $5?

Each month starts off with your themed pin. This month features a Loot Crate crest. Thes best part - these unlock bonus loot!

The bonus pin grants you a free Loot Crate exclusive Mozu skin for the free-to-play Steam game, Gigantic. Unfortunately for me, it's Window only!

Zelda Shirt - Value $15?

This month's shirt features a classic look at Zelda!

It features a lot of 8-bit detail and classic map structures to make up Link - very fun design.

"Nice King" & Gunter Figure - Value $20-25?

This is, at least, the 3rd figure from Loot Crate themselves - the line is called Loot Crate Originals! Their past Loot Crate Original figures include Rick and Kuchi Kopi + the upcoming Dragon Age figure -  It's one thing to bring production in-house, and it's another to just be crushing it with awesome figures!

The paint job and detail work are definitely on-par with a QFig - and they really do some of the best work, in my opinion. It's exciting more multiple reasons, too - I expect to see more of these unique figures in future boxes. Very exciting!

Lord of the Rings Color Changing Glass - Value - $15?

This is an exclusive 9.5 ounce mug featuring text from THE ring.

The text will actually change color to red when you add cold liquids! It's also hand wash only and not microwave safe.

Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers Print - Value $15?

The final item is an 8x10 print featuring one of my favorite scenes from both The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings trilogies!

The print is a very nice quality, too - and shipped in plastic to protect it. This is definitely a frameable piece of art.

Verdict: Again, I think this is a great month for Loot Crate. I really appreciate the every item is a bit fun and/or unique - and even more than that - I got it right on time! As a figure and statue collector - I like what Loot Crate has been doing with their first run at doing their own figures - those figures have been my favorite item from the past Loot Crate and Loot Crate DX - so I have high expectations moving forward!

Frankly, I’m very disappointed with the contents of the box; everything was cheap and not central to the themes. The Ice King was named, “nice king” on the box, and the color changing lotr cup isn’t dishwasher friendly 😒 The design on the tshirt was lame and not the style I wanted.

This box looks pretty good. I love the glass. I sent a t-shirt to Loot Vault to exchange months ago, and I never received a replacement.

I ordered from Loot Vault and had to cancel my order. It had been 30 days and I emailed them. Response was shipping delays due to manhours in the warehouse. Sounds to me like another nerdblock.

Aaaaaaand… STILL waiting to hear about my June box.

Yet no mention even of LootCrate’s ongoing shipping issues in this post?

I hear ya. I got my June box but none of my June loot wear (Loot for Her or Loot T). It’s frustrating to see others get theirs already even though I’ve been with Loot Crate since 2014. Here’s the response I got from them:

“We’re very sorry for the slow followup on your Animation Loot Tee. Due to an internal bug, we accidentally oversold certain t-shirt sizes.

We contacted the manufacturer to get more shirts made but we do not yet have a solid date for when we can expect them to arrive at our warehouse. As soon as we find out, we’ll let you know.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to let me know by replying to this message and I will be more than happy to help!”

I’m a huge Bob’s Burgers fan and I want my loot now! Especially since they are holding my leggings hostage with the tee 🙁

I had the exact same issue and response. Never really had a complaint about loot crate and I’ve been with them since 2014 too. But this is starting to grate…

Hi Marion, Sorry to hear about your June box. We have been mentioning shipping issues on our past Loot Crate box reviews, but for the past two boxes our shipments all arrived on time, so it appeared as though shipping issues were straightening out. We’ll keep watching what’s going on with future boxes – thank you for letting us know.

Hmmm

I was glad to see Zelda in a box! And love the LOTR glass!! 1st box I’m excited about in awhile

I’m guessing it’s because I don’t watch Adventure Time or play Zelda, but this box is just Meh to me. Kind of underwhelming. I mean, with the theme, why no Game of Thrones or Vikings or something? Next month’s spoilers look nice and this is really the first month that I am just ok with.
