You will receive a newsletter called the Dibble Digest in every shipment. This is basically a newsletter that has relevant articles about fishing; this month discusses night fishing and how to rig a punch rig.
Mystery Tackle Box is also promoting their Snapchat this month.
As always, you can expect an exclusive decal in every shipment. This month is an angry looking lobster with a chainsaw, which is pretty funny looking in my opinion.
Let’s take a look at what’s inside:
Here is a card noting all products within the box, along with their value.
Misty Minnow by Thundermist Lures – Value $6.99
This minnow is quite realistic looking, both in shape and coloring and has a nice weight to it. The packaging notes that this dives in the 1-3 foot range in the water, so it will surely get attention from some fish. The quality of this product is high and worth the $6.99 value in my opinion - it will surely be a nice addition to my existing lure assortment.
Micro Spinnerbait by Dynamic Lure – Value $4.95
This lure is similar to ones I have in my current tackle box, but of nicer quality and more substantial overall. The packaging notes that this product is good for fishing around rocks, docks, and man-made structures and also great for beginner fishers and children.
Troutino by Lucky John – Listed Value $4.99
These shrimp scented, imitator baitfishes are good for most conditions and are great for catching trout year-round. The material is biodegradable, making it environmentally friendly and not harming to the water, which I do appreciate. The quality is good, as is the packaging and for receiving 10 pieces, that makes each piece of bait $0.50, which is fair.
Minnow 2’’ by Charlie’s Worms – Value $5.49
These imitator minnows are extremely lifelike; the two-toned paint job is spot on to the real thing, so when the sun hits this bait, it’ll look like it’s swimming away from the fish. This package contains 20 minnows, making each minnow at about $0.27 in value, which is a good deal in my opinion.
Painted Jigheads by Best – Value $1.99
This jig head is of good quality and the 3-D eye design is of a substantial weight and the hook is very sharp. Along with this looking pretty cool in my opinion, the quality for the value ($1 per jig head) is very reasonable. I’m excited to add this one my tackle box!
Garlic Scent by MTB – Value $0.50?
This is an exclusive item from Mystery Tackle Box and I’m unable to find it on their site, so my $0.50 value is an estimate. This is a tiny packet of garlic scent, which is meant to be put on any live or artificial baits and lures. I’ve never experimented with a garlic scent, but I hear it is great for attracting trout, which was my species preference and theme for this box.
Verdict: This was my first experience with Mystery Tackle Box and I’m quite impressed with the variety of products and how nicely geared they are towards my species preference, the Trout. The value received in this box (not counting the garlic scent sample) was $24.41, which is about $10 more in value than the price paid, $14.99 (which also includes free shipping). I would recommend this subscription to any fisherman or woman who is looking to try out new gear.
