The box includes an info card that explains all of the items inside and gives values and sources for each. I love having that information handy in case I want to stock up on my new discoveries!
Modern Wash Avocado Soap, 3.5 oz - Value $9.00
This little soap is shaped like a naked avocado! It's super ergonomic and easy to hold. I love that it has a dimple where the pit of the avocado would be! This fresh, grapefruit-centered soap contains avocado oil as well as vitamin E and other nourishing ingredients. It's not the most moisturizing product, but it does feel less drying than mainstream bar soaps.
Illume Pineapple Cilantro Soy Candle, 3 oz - Value $19.99 (Listed Value $10.00)
This candle actually goes for about $10.00 more than this info card lists it for on Amazon, though I feel like $10.00 is much fairer given its small size. The fragrance is a really interesting combination of woody richness and fruity sweetness. I thought this candle would be a lot more tropical, but it feels much more summertime-back-patio than beachfront-getaway. That's right up my alley, so I'm really happy with this find. I especially love its lemongrass packaging—it's stable, small, and beautiful to look at even when it isn't lit.
Illume White Verbena and Pear Citronella Candle, 4.9 oz - Value $25.00 (Listed Value $12.00)
This candle also goes for a good deal more than it's listed for on the info card, so I definitely feel like I'm getting my money's worth here! This candle contains citronella, so it'll help ward away the late-summer bugs during a sunset night on the porch. It has a really bright, clean floral scent that's sweetened with a pop of pear. Usually, I prefer earthier, woodsy, muskier scents (what most people would consider boy candles, honestly), so this wasn't a candle I'd have picked for myself at the store. That said, it's really lovely, and especially when the scent is diffused in some outdoor evening air, I bet it'll be super pleasant.
Perfumeria Gal Collection Orange Lip Balm, 0.53 oz - Value $9.99 (Listed Value $6.50)
This item is also a little more expensive on Amazon than it is on the info card, but again, I see that as a plus for me rather than a ding against the box. This balm has a super strong orange scent. It's one of the first orange-scented items I've experienced that seems to capture the full spectrum of what orange can be—it's sweet, a little acidic, and even a little bitter. As a balm, it's nice and moisturizing, but I think the star of the show is the fragrance. I might actually use this balm as a low-key solid perfume!
Verdict: I really liked this month's box, though I'm sad these summery scents arrived as fall is starting to creep in. I know that the point of the box is to create a savoring-the-summer vibe—I just wish I had them earlier in the season so I could've enjoyed them even more! I got about $64.00 of product inside this box based on the prices I found online, which is a good deal more than the almost $35.00 cost (which includes free shipping). All of these products were fun, but I think I'm going to need another one of those Pineapple Cilantro candles sooner rather than later... (It smells so good!)
