Cotton Paisley Print Scarf Bandana (retail price ranges. I found similar ones at 12 for $11.99 here)
There is something very classic about a paisley print bandana. Just glancing at bandanas like this makes me think of my grandfather who owned a gun shop and was a huge John Wayne fan; Gramps wore bandanas like this around his neck often. I, myself, amassed quite the bandana collection in every color from my local craft store; I used them as hair wraps when I was in college. Isn’t it wild how many memories can be incited from simply looking at a bandana?! Nostalgia aside, because this item is rather common and easy to find, I wasn’t incredibly impressed with this bandana’s inclusion. I will give Pinup in a Pack props though for including such a versatile and classic accessory, though.
Fruit earring set (cost unavailable)
Truth be told, I am a sucker for any kind of fruit designs! Whether it be on clothing, house ware items, or vintage accessories--- I probably am salivating over it. A lot of jewelry accessories focus on cherries and bananas, so I really love that these watermelon earrings were featured in this fruit salad collection. This set also makes me nostalgic for trips to Claire’s as a kid; sifting through racks and racks of earring sets for the perfect one. These are kitschy and youthful, but not necessarily earrings I would wear every day. I wore the watermelon earrings all day at work and I can happily say they did not make my ears itch like some costume jewelry pieces do!
Set of Two Wooden Bangles (price unavailable)
These bangles may be my favorite of the items in my first Pinup in a Pack! First glance at these made me want to hop in a tiger print dress of mine and go out for a night on the town. The wooden material is very light and these bangles could be worn lower on the wrist, but they are big enough they could go up closer to ones’ elbow. These wooden bangles are so versatile that they pair well with an outrageous Saturday night ensemble to a toned-down business casual look for the Monday after at the office.
Verdict: This is my first Pinup in a Pack and I have to say I am left feeling a bit mixed, which may be due to my high expectations from creeping their Instagram page. For $19.99, I feel that the cost is fair, in part due to the fact that it includes the shipping fees. I hope the next box includes accessories like sunglasses - especially cat eyes or at least something that feels a bit more special and less common and accessible. That all being said, the accessories I did receive pair well and definitely have a retro theme. I am very open and eager to see what my next box will be like.
