If you aren’t familiar with Golden Tote, here’s a really quick intro: Every month new clothing launches and you get to pick out 1-2 pieces, and they surprise you with the rest. (The surprise items are completely different from the pieces you pick from). Golden Tote also offers a Surprise Tote, where you choose your preferred size but what you receive is a complete surprise.
Golden Tote also offers the option to choose add-ons, which means you can choose additional clothing for a reduced price.
This is a review of the $59 Mini Golden Tote with 1 add-on. The cost this month was $94 + $5.95 shipping.
Fall is here! Each order is packed in a canvas tote with a new design. I have started quite the collection of bags, but they're perfect for toting groceries.

Flowing Places Top, size S - Retail Price: $40
This top makes me so happy! I'm a huge fan of tent silhouettes, which is what first drew me to it when I was perusing the September new arrivals. The fabric is 100% polyester, which is apparent, but there's a bit of slink to it, so although structured, the tent moves nicely. This is an easy top to pair with skinny jeans (my #1) and booties.
The shoulders fit true to size, but the sleeves are a little long. The blouson cuff does not help since they add even more bulk.
This shade of mustard is awesome, especially heading into fall. I don't wear a lot of pattern, but this floral motif is super feminine and the color scheme is complementary to the background. There's also a middle panel with gathering that reminds me of shirring but without all the stitching. The pattern doesn't quite match up at the seams, but for $40, I wouldn't expect it to.
The crew neck opens with a sweet elastic and button keyhole back. Love this top!
Le Lis Floral Dress, size S - Retail Price: $40
This month's mystery item is this polyester lined velvet floral dress. My first thought was "Yay, 90s!" and my second thought was "So not me." However, I tried it on and immediately felt more positive. It fits true to size and the skirt hits at my preferred length. For the listed retail price, the quality is there.
The bodice, in particular, is constructed really well. There is darting in the front that makes this dress fit like a glove. And again, I wouldn't expect the floral pattern to match at the seams. The velvet's texture and the overall muted color scheme is so spot on!
The comfortable spaghetti straps create a unique criss-cross in the back.
Realistically, I'm unlikely to wear this dress bear shouldered - it's just not my thing. But, I absolutely loved styling this with a moto-styled jacket I recently got from Stitch Fix (review coming soon!) and combat-ish booties. I think I achieved a modern 90's look and I'm happy with this pick.
Pretty Peplum Sweater, size S - Retail Price: $40 (Golden Tote add-on price: $35)
I'm a self-proclaimed shopaholic, so I couldn't pass up the chance to order a discounted add-on. And this cream 100% nylon knitted sweater is quite frankly, amazing. Golden Tote, you're killing it! There's a (faux) cashmere-esque softness to this fabric and it is so warm and comfortable on. The cream is perfect to wear well into winter and I immediately wanted to style it with gold-toned accessories. (Necklace is from Stitch Fix and shoes are from ShoeDazzle - both reviews coming soon!)
I'm a total sucker for peplum, so this was an easy pick. But this trendy-turned-classic detail is really perfect for a thicker waist like mine, and adds a bit of flare to a top that might otherwise be boring. This peplum has thin ribbing but just as soft.
There's similar ribbing on the ballet neckline (thanks for the neckline tip, Emily!). The subtle curve adds a sweet femininity to this piece.
Verdict: This is my third Golden Tote shipment and most favorite yet! For $99.95 ($94 + $5.95 shipping), I received 3 pieces of clothing - two of which I chose. Valued at roughly $33 a piece, I'm more than happy! As much as I am a 'more the merrier' shopper, I think I prefer the Mini Tote + add-on ordering over the $149 larger tote because there's less surprise and more chance to truly love and wear what I get. Golden Tote's clothing is great quality, fashion-forward, and a good value. I am definitely looking forward to next month!
