An info card was included that helps you and your little reader navigate through your box! Each product is a character or object from this month's book, Super Slug of Doom, and the card gives you a little description for each.
The box also came with this adorable bonus letter to the reader from the author, Matty Long. The letter gets you ready to embark on your epic reading journey with five other heroes to stop an evil slug! Plus, you also receive two activity sheets that you and your little one can work on together.
The first sheet is a spot the difference that features a page from the Super Slug of Doom! The second sheet is a word search that features names of characters from the book. So much fun and interactive!

The book takes us to the Super Happy Magic Forest, where an evil slug wants to drink a powerful potion that will allow him to take over the forest! You will embark on an epic journey with five heroes - Hoofius, Blossom, Twinkle, Trevor, and Herbert as they try to save their friends and the magic forest. The pages are filled with bold and beautiful images that put you right into the Super Happy Magic Forest and on the journey with these unconventional heroes. While my son is still a little young to fully understand this story, he absolutely loved listening to it and looking through the glossy pages. For me, I could not stop laughing at this feel-good adventure that highlights positivity and fun while protecting your community from the super slug of doom!
"Blossom the Unicorn" Long Arm Plushy - Value $2.17 (buy 12 for $25.99 on Amazon)
Blossom can be found in our book and is the unsung hero on this epic journey to save the Super Happy Magic Forest! My son absolutely loved holding Blossom while following along in the book. Blossom's arms are extra long with fasteners so that you and your little one can secure her to take on all of your daily epic journies!
Strawberries & Cream Smashmallows, 4.5 oz - Value $4.00
Blossom the unicorn loves marshmallows, and even ate an entire bag of them before defeating the slug of doom! These smashmallows are made with organic cane sugar and all-natural ingredients. They have a similar texture to regular marshmallows but have that extra punch of strawberry flavor to them. While I know my son would love these, they were extremely sweet so I might be saving these for him as an extra special treat after a big day of adventures like our friend Blossom the unicorn!
Superhero Tote – Value $2.00?
Meet Trevor the mushroom! You and your little reader will learn more about him on the epic journey to save the Super Happy Magic Forest. My son loves little toys like this, but he was extra excited when he saw that it was also a fun glow in the dark light! I wasn't able to find anything similar to this adorable mushroom light so I am estimating the overall value based on the size.
Sticky Slug in Bug Jar – Value $0.53 (Buy a pack of 12 for $6.31 on Amazon)
Zorgoth is the evil slug trying to take over the Super Happy Magic Forest so he must be stopped! You and your little one can use this little bug jar to capture him on your epic journey. I really try to encourage 'make believe play' with my son so we have been using this sticky slug and awesome bug jar to go on our own adventures! Plus, he loves bugs so this toy is extra fun for him to play with.
Hawaiian Punch Green Berry Rush (8 pack singles to go) – Value $5.95
You will read in the story that the super slug of doom is trying to drink the potion of power to take over the Super Happy Magic Forest. This green berry rush punch makes the perfect drink to enjoy while you are reading about the epic journey and even pairs as your own potion of power. My son is a little young to enjoy hawaiian punch, but my husband was really excited to drink these singles!
Verdict: My son loves reading books so I was very excited to get my first LitJoy Crate, and I can safely say that it did not disappoint! The featured book, Super Slug of Doom, is a hilarious adventure story with bold, cartoon-like illustrations that my son loved. Even though the story itself was a little advanced for him, I know that he will really enjoy it in a few short months. To me, books are a total experience that you want to recreate and you learn to love each character. LitJoy Crate brings each book to life by filling each box with fun little extras that you can use while you read the book with your little one or after for 'make believe' play. I calculated the overall value to be $30.38, which is even with the monthly cost of $29.99 a month, but falls below the cost when shipping is included. We are constantly buying and collecting new books for my son so receiving a new one each month plus fun extras is so fun and special!
