World's Best Memory Foam Travel Pillow - Value $11.99
I've got a few trips queued up for fall, so this pillow couldn't have come at a better time! I've always wanted one of these pillows but I forget about them until I'm already at the airport (where they're super expensive) or loading into the car. So I'm stoked to have this super soft, slightly fuzzy pillow! The cover comes off, so I can wash it between uses, and I love how the memory foam helps this pillow effortlessly shape itself to my shoulders and head.
Kikkerland Create Your Own Mugshot Mug - Value $19.99
This mug gives you all the instructions you need to transfer a photo of yourself onto this police-line-up-patterned mug. It's a really cute idea, as well as a nice quality mug. (Mug. Mugshot. Get it?) It's a shame though that I don't really have a photo to use with it! All of my most recent throw-away photos are probably on social media, and any hard-copies are too important to pop onto a mug (think childhood photos or snapshots printed specifically to live in frames). I know, I know—my millennial-ness is showing. I'll probably use this mug as-is, though note that it's not dishwasher safe, nor microwave safe for more than a few seconds.
Kitchen Rite BBQ Non-Stick Bacon Griller - Value $16.99
When I pulled this out of the box, I initially thought it was one of those stands that you can prop your tablet on when you're working in the kitchen. But nope! This metal triangle is actually a bacon griller! I assume you lay the strips across the top of the roof-shaped tool, then let the heat of the grill get it sizzling. There's a little gutter on either side of the tool to catch grease, too. Unfortunately, I like to follow a vegetarian diet, plus I don't have a grill, so I'm not sure that this will get much use from me. Maybe I'll gift it to one of my meat-eating friends, or bring it over to my family's home the next time we all get together to use their grill.
Set of Two Navy Bath Sheets - Value $19.98? ($9.99 each?)
There wasn't any information about what brand these were from, so I just compared them to similar quality towels I recently bought for myself at Target. Lucky me, I now have two extra navy bath sheets to match my new set! I bought the least expensive Target towels, which seem to be a little heftier than this very thin pair. I like that they have a pop of white along the edges, and they're super soft (they're 100% cotton). I'm bummed that I already noticed some fraying threads and some bits of blue lint falling off of them, but in a pinch (a.k.a. right before laundry day when I need a spare towel or two), these should work great!
Sriracha Pint Glass Set - Value $21.12
I definitely do love sriracha! I like how these glasses capture the motif of popular sriracha bottles, though part of my brain automatically goes "wait... is this going to taste like sriracha now?" That said, what a fun thing to serve a spicy beer in? There's a brewery near me that does a crisp, refreshing brew with a kick of heat to it—sounds weird, I know, but it's delicious. These glasses would be a fun way to tease the spiciness to come! They're also really nice quality (these glasses are actually made of glass), so if anything, they'll be a quirky addition to my everyday glasses cabinet!
Verdict: I was really happy with this month's Monthly Mystery Box by Jamminbutter! I'm always a little surprised to say that, but they really do a nice job. I find that I end up with things that might be a little out of the ordinary and maybe not the best quality, but which end up being nice items for me to have around the house (like the spare towels or the travel pillow). For $24.99 (plus free U.S. shipping), I estimated that I got about $90-worth of products. That's huge! Now, keep in mind that I'm coming at this from the perspective of someone who's still apartment-dwelling and hasn't had years to build up a well-stocked home. It's very possible that someone with a bit more of an established household would see these items and say "What the heck am I supposed to do with another travel pillow?" or "Where am I supposed to keep this grill thing?" Me? I'm like "YES! SPARE TOWELS!" Hehe. So it's not for everyone. But I for one have found it shockingly handy (and a great deal)!
