To help you get the most out of the items in this box, there is a little envelope of information to read and meditate on. I like that they remind you to stop and find a quiet place to open and explore this box with intention. Resist the urge to tear through all of the pretty, shiny pieces in this box! Trust me, you'll get more meaning out of the experience by taking the time to appreciate everything bit by bit.
The first piece of information is a list of "to-dos" that incorporates each item inside the box.
There's also a tiny card (it's only business-card sized where the others are index-card sized) that details the stones that came in the box. (We'll get to them in a moment.)
Finally, there's a beautiful, colorful card that explains the significance of the featured moon of this box—the harvest moon. I love the idea of recognizing abundance in our lives during this period. My brain is always (somewhat obsessively) working on fixing, changing, or achieving certain things. That's not all bad, but I so appreciate the call to stop, observe, and express gratitude for what resources I already have. It's the balance a busy, aspirational brain like mine needs.
The list continues on the back of one of the cards...
... and on another, it articulates the significance of the Red Moon, the focus of this month's box. There's also information about two of the crystals included in the box (though I got a bag of three, rather than two).
There's also a separate card that's all about the Red Moon. One of these cards appears in each box, which means I'm starting to collect these bits of knowledge about the moon's many personalities and how I can leverage them. Cool!
There are a couple stones in the box. Let's go biggest to smallest. (I'm guessing at the values based on what prices I've seen for similar stones online. Let me know in the comments if I'm way off—I definitely don't want to over or undervalue a particular stone!)
Blue Chalcedony - Value $5.00?
This stone is about as big as a credit card. It's essentially a geode with little light blue stripes running through it. According to the information provided by the box, this stone is all about empowering communication, honest expression, and reflection. I've been thinking a lot lately about the places where I put my creative energies and what hobbies or interests aren't getting the love they need. In other words, this stone couldn't come at a better time!
Aventurine - Value $4.00?
This gray-green stone is about the size of a bigger LEGO brick. It sits perfectly in the palm of my hand, so that I can close my whole hand over it. (Its triangular shape fits perfectly in the valley between the heel of my thumb and the pads at the base of my fingers.) The card says that this stone spurs creative problem solving and the kind of calm that comes with a positive, progressive outlook. I'm eager to combine this stone with the previous one to help me focus on things like the creative potential in my life and how I can best share that energy.
Ametrine - Value $3.00?
This is the smallest stone in the bunch, as it's just a weensie bit bigger than a quarter. This stone just looks magical with its undulating hues of dark purple and creamy lavender. According to the card, this is a rare combination of citrine and amethyst, which means it encourages both knowledge and will. This stone is a great reminder to always keep pushing for better, deeper knowledge and to turn that knowledge into meaningful action!
Gemstone Organic Sun Clean Honey Rose Cleanser - Value $24.00?
I'm not sure the size of this container (it's not listed anywhere), but I'm guessing it's the same as what's listed on the Gemstone Organic site (which is 1.4 oz). The problem, however, is that there's... uh... nothing in here. There's maybe enough for one application inside this jar. So it's basically a sample. I love that they're reusing their usual packaging rather than producing new packages just for samples, but I mean, it's kind of a buzzkill to see such an empty container, right? This cleanser has an amazing herbal pungency to it and is thick and sticky thanks to the raw, organic honey. It left my skin feeling soft and refreshed. I just wish there was more!
Angel Face Bohemian Spice Body Oil, 1 oz - Value $9.00
On the other hand, this bottle may be only 1 oz, but it's filled to the brim with the greatest smelling oil ever. This lightweight oil instantly absorbed into my skin, leaving it soft and smooth. But the best part is the fragrance. It's as if the coolest hippie girl in college grew up to work in a cool office where she keeps fresh flowers on her desk each day. Heady, sophisticated, and floral all at once. I love it! And lucky me, they include a coupon!
MoonBox Tea - Value $5.00?
Each month, this box features a new blend of tea from Fruits to the Roots. I love this month's blend, which is like drinking on a crisp fall day. The ingredients include angelica root, chamomile, clove buds, elderberries, lemon peel, oatstraw, and pepsissawa. I think the clove, chamomile, and elderberries pop out the most—it's rich, crisp, peaceful, and unmistakably fall.
MoonBox Full-Moon Essential Oil Elixir Rollerball - Value $25.00?
Previous MoonBox rollerballs have been valued at $25.00 and being that their site is currently under construction, I'll value this rollerball the same way. This is such a unique, peaceful scent! It reminds me of the smell of a small cabin in the woods, thanks to the birch and cedarwood.
Verdict: This box was, all-in-all, a win. As usual, I love how it's presented, with its pretty packaging and metallic touches, and I think they do a great job of curating really interesting beautiful items. I was really surprised by how little facial cleanser was inside that one little jar—I'm not sure if that's a fluke or intentional—and I'm definitely a little surly about that. But as I'm trying to focus on abundance, I'll try to remember how happy I am with the Bohemian Spice face oil and the beautiful selection of crystals (which relate so well to the challenges and questions I have right now). For $31.50 ($29.50 + $2 shipping), I calculated about $75.00 of amazing items. Even if I docked the value of the empty cleanser, I think I got my money's worth from this unique experience of a box.
