Myconos Concentrated Deep Sea Whitening Jelly Mask - Value $2.32 (buy a pack of 3 for $6.97)
This mask was unique in that the jelly sheet comes sandwiched between two paper sheets. You must first peel away one paper layer, apply the mask to your face, and then peel away the other paper side to reveal only the wet jelly sheet. The texture of the jelly made the mask really form-fitting to my face. It had a super comfy, flexible cushion to it! I also found it to be quite cooling. The serum was pretty thick and sticky, and there's a lot of it, so I let it sit on my face and neck for a good while after removing the jelly sheet. My face was noticeably brighter immediately afterward, and I found the results to last until the next day.
MediHeal Platinum V-Life Essential Mask - Value $2.00
Wow. This was honestly one of the best sheet masks I've ever used. I guess I'm not surprised since the packaging carefully explains that this mask provides healing properties in a very sort of... clinical way? I've found that the more gimmicky/cutesy/kawaii mask packaging tends to correlate with products that don't deliver as much in the results department as the more.. shall we say... boring looking?... masks do, but maybe that's just my imagination. Anyway, the silk cellulose sheet stuck to my face firmly and comfortably. It made my skin GLOW. I had some dry patches before applying this mask in the morning, and my skin was hydrated, supple, and noticeably luminous for the remainder of the day after removing. A favorite, for sure!
APIEU Chocolate Milk One Pack Mask - Value $2.00
Based on the packaging, I was 100% ready for this mask to smell like chocolate. It doesn't at all. It has a subtle, coconut-y, lotion-y type of smell, but it's nothing like the sweet chocolate milk I was expecting. A pleasant surprise, honestly. And based on my admittedly narrow-minded packaging assumptions (see above), my hopes weren't high. The essence on this sheet absorbed into my skin really nicely, and it had a bit of a creamy quality (kind of like milk -- name is making sense now!). Though it was moisturizing and brightening, I didn't find the results to be dramatic. Still, I was a fan of this mask for a little skin pick-me-up, and the packaging did put a smile on my face.
TONYMOLY I'm Real Lemon Mask Sheet - Brightening - Value $2.49 (buy 3 for $7.74)
A brand I recognize! I've used masks from TONYMOLY many times before, and I've had a lot of luck with their products. These masks are readily available (you can pick them up at your local drug store, or even Urban Outfitters and other retailers) and they come in a variety of 'fruits' to target different skin issues. This one had a strong lemon scent and was geared toward brightening. I'm normally a big fan of citrus scents, but this was more house cleaner than a lemon tree. I also found the serum to be slightly irritating and uncomfortable on my face. I'd give it another shot at some point though!
Leaders Coconut Gel Mask with Broccoli - Value $1.00
This mask was very soothing. The sheet came soaked in quite a lot of extra serum in the packet, so I sort of dripped the excess onto my face after applying the sheet and again after removing it. I allowed that serum to soak into my skin for several hours (while I got in some solid TV time, of course). It left my skin feeling nourished, but, again, nothing dramatic. This is definitely more of an everyday kind of mask, so I wouldn't suggest it for someone that's looking for a serious results-oriented facial experience. I WOULD recommend it if you're searching for a nice, hydrating mask for relaxing at home.
The Face Shop Modeling Gel Patch Cherry Cherry Lips - Value $4.66
Oooh, I've wanted to try one of these since they started to pop up all over YouTube and Instagram makeup tutorials. The gel lips are wet and slippery to remove from the package, but I was surprised at how well they suctioned to my face once I wrangled them into place. I kept my head tilted back so that they wouldn't slide, but they seemed to grip into place pretty firmly. This is also when I proceed to take approximately 10 selfies. The scent is like cherry candy. I left this gel patch on for 20 minutes and found that my lips were super hydrated afterward. No plumping quality, but soft lips that lasted a day or so!
Farmstay Cucumber Mask - Value $1.90 (buy 10 for $11.90)
I've used this mask before. Even after a second go-around, it's not my favorite. Something about it just doesn't agree with my skin, and it leaves my face feeling irritated more than anything. The sheet itself is also too big for my face. It doesn't fit comfortably and sort of flops around on the sides. It does have a hydrating effect, but, when it comes to moisturizing, there are better masks out there, IMO. Though this mask isn't a good fit for me, I could see it working well for someone that enjoys using a mask 2-3 times a week for gradual, subtle results. I prefer a bit more drama in my mask treatments.
It's Skin Green Tea Watery Mask Sheet - Value $1.36
I love green tea as a facial ingredient because I find that it calms red or sensitive skin while gently providing relief. My skin has actually been pretty clear and healthy lately, but I could see this mask working some magic during a breakout! Like the name suggests, the essence that the sheet is soaked in is quite watery. I didn't have too much of a drip issue though. Overall, this mask was a nice basic for a bit of a skin refresh!
Verdict: This was my first Piibu box, and I loved exploring some new brands and masks (along with a few familiar options) throughout the experience. The MediHeal Platinum V-Life Essential Mask was a total standout, and I'm so happy to have discovered it!
Value-wise, this box comes in at around $17.73. Since the box is $15 (+$4.95 shipping), it's a bit disappointing to see that the value doesn't quite warrant the total cost. However, you are definitely paying for the convenience of receiving the full 8-10 mask varied assortment in one shipment. If you were to order each mask separately, individual shipping costs would send the value well over $17.73.
I did have a couple issues with this box. One being that I didn't totally love a few of the options (but isn't that how it goes?), and the other that Piibu did not offer an info card or even a website to access each mask's description. I had to do a lot of investigating on my own terms to discover additional details around each mask. Overall, I'm excited to see what Piibu has to offer going forward, and especially how it compares to Mishimask and Facetory!
