Now, onto the items!
Jontéblu Velvet Matte Lipstick in Ava - Value $7
When I first saw this shade I was a little disappointed. It looks very dull brown-nude and like it would make me look totally drained. To my surprise, it actually matches my natural lip color almost exactly. It isn’t as unflattering as I expected, but I probably wouldn’t reach for this color on the regular. The formula is light and creamy yet very pigmented.
Jontéblu Lip Liner in Natural - Value $5
This lip liner matches the lipstick shade perfectly. Even though I’m not a big fan of the shade choice, the formula is good. It applies smoothly and provides a good base for lip color. Jontéblu has many shades available in this lip liner and at this price point, it would be worth giving some other shades a chance.
Kokie Blush Up Palette in Blushing - Value $9
I like blush that is matte and not too intense in pigment. This palette gives you three shades that are powdery-soft and certainly buildable. I have been using the lightest shade on top of my cheekbones, the darkest shade on the bottom of my cheekbones, and the brightest shade on the apples of my cheeks (see my application below). I feel like I can achieve some natural looking definition without contouring my whole face. The compact is nice and slim so it fits right into my makeup bag.
J. Cat Blinkie Eyeshadow in Honey Amber - Value $4.99
This is a super pigmented, metallic powder shadow that can be used wet or dry depending on the intensity you want to achieve. I am surprised at how easily I can blend this out for different effects. Below I used it dry and blended it out to soften the look. It’s very warm toned and don’t feel like it fits into my natural eyeshadow look for everyday but makes a great statement for night.
Glam21 Massing Mascara - Value $15.64
This is a nice, basic black mascara that doesn’t flake or clump and gives some volume. It doesn’t quite lengthen like I like though. It doesn’t say waterproof on the package anywhere but it didn’t come off when I washed my face with cleanser alone. One quick swipe of eye makeup remover whisked it right away.
Bonus: ShieldLife Ion Mask - Value $2.50 (original retail price $5)
This month, subscribers received one of an assortment of sheet masks from ShieldLife. I received the collagen ion mask, which smelled light and fresh. I left it on for 20 minutes, as instructed, and was able to walk around the house without it sliding off of my face. You are supposed to pat in the extra product, without rinsing, once you remove the mask, but this left my skin feeling tacky. I decided to rinse my face and after, my skin felt fresh and hydrated.
Before I knew I could be upright without the mask slipping around, I tried to lay down and relax. That lasted only a couple of minutes. I’m working on it.
All of the items swatched from top to bottom: lipstick, lip liner, eyeshadow, and 3 shades of blush.
Here is a look with all of the items from this month’s box. I feel so glowy! The lipstick shade looked much better on than I expected.
Verdict: Sweet Sparkle’s “Copper Chic” box has a value of $44.13 plus free shipping. That’s a little lower than previous months even with the value of the bonus product. All of the items are fitting for the theme of this box and, as always, full-sized and coordinated to fit into a whole look. My favorite item is the blush palette because of its versatility. I like the inclusion of a bonus product this month, but I’m still hoping for a higher value next month.
What do you think of the this month’s Sweet Sparkle box? Which shades did you get?
