The theme for this month is Germany!
The booklet included each month provides you with a little tour of Germany! Not only is there a whole section outlining each snack featured in this month's box, but there is a culture section outlining fun facts about Germany, top phrases, and then a music section. I love when a box provides something extra like a custom playlist that goes along with that month's theme!
Now let’s get snacking!
Bahlsen Leibniz Butter Biscuits, 7 oz. - Value $6.95
These biscuits come with a little history! Hermann Bahlsen founded his business in 1889, where his family still carries on his biscuit tradition today, and in 1904 he pioneered the first moisture resistant packaging for biscuits. Not only were these biscuits interesting to learn about, but they were also incredibly tasty! They are a thicker biscuit so I would pair these with coffee or tea as an afternoon snack. The butter gives these a creaminess and a light crunch that I loved. You also receive so many in one package so I am going to have these around my house to munch on for a while!
Bahlsen Choco-Leibniz (dark chocolate), 4.4 oz. – Value $6.00
As if I couldn't love the Bahlsen Butter Biscuits enough, they went and added a dark chocolate coating to them! The information card says that this treat was inspired by the French Petit Buerre line of confectionary. Each butter biscuit is covered in a thick layer of European dark chocolate. I enjoyed these as a late night snack and then again with my afternoon cup of coffee. Another package that you receive so many of each biscuit, which I am very very happy about!
Ferrero German Kinder Bueno, 4 oz. – Value $4.00
While Kinder belongs to the Italian company Ferrero, these were initially developed for the German market in 1967. When they first launched, they were marketed as "the first Kinder chocolate for Adults." This snack seriously blew my mind, it was so good I quickly ate both before anyone came home - I didn't want to share! Each bar is a crispy waffle covered in milk chocolate with a rich hazelnut cream center. Just take my word for you, you need this chocolate bar in your life, now!
Haribo Sour Gold Bears, 1.8 oz. – Value $2.75
These sour bears are a quirky twist on the original with a sour and tangy sugar coating. Another fun history lesson, these gummy bears were developed in 1922 by Hans Reigel, Sr. If you have ever had Haribo bears, you know that they are a little chewier than other brands of gummy bears, but I absolutely love this brand! The sweet and sour sugar coating provided that extra kick that can make any adult remember how happy a treat like this would have made them as a kid!
Ritter Sport Milk Chocolates, 0.59 oz. – Value $2.00
Ritter Sport Chocolates were developed back in 1912 and were designed to fit in everyone's jacket pocket without breaking. Fun fact, these little squares weigh the same as a normal long bar from Ritter Sport! I received the chocolate with corn flakes, and boy do I want to put corn flakes in everything chocolate flavored now! This little chocolate just melts in your mouth and has such a rich creaminess to it. The corn flakes provided a wonderful crunch that you would almost get from a wafer. I wish I could eat a whole bag of these!
Bahlsen HIT Vanilla Cream Sandwich Cookies, 4.7 oz. – Value $4.50
These are so much more than a cookie. They have a fluffy, yet crunchy bite to them that is more like a biscuit. The chocolate flavor put these over the edge, and the cream vanilla filling was sweet like a custard. This would be the perfect snack to eat with coffee. My mom and my son couldn't stop snacking on these!
Lorenz Saltletts, 75 g. – Value $3.85
This is a classic snack, baked pretzels, that have been around for more than 80 years. Each little pretzel rod has a light sprinkle of sea salt that makes each bite so crunchy and oh so salty! I love getting bags like this because not only can I enjoy them, but my son loves to snack on them as well! A classic snack that is always good to have around!
Verdict: I have received TopMunch one time before so I was very excited to get this box again! I was even more excited when I saw that the snacks were from Germany, so many sweet treats! Since most of the snacks were sweet, I absolutely loved everything that I ate and we received so many in each package that there are so many leftovers. What I think I love most about this month's box though is that the information card provides so much historical information. Not only can you learn about Germany as though you are planning your next trip there, but TopMunch really dives into the history behind each of the snacks and the brand. At $29 a month, I received seven total snacks, which averages out to $4.14 per item (or valued at $30.05). Since I received so many snacks, I was able to share with my family, and we were able to read and learn all about Germany while we snacked. This is such a great box that allows you to learn and challenge your taste buds every month!
