Unique Vintage 1940s Style Red Plaid Carmen Half Sleeve Wiggle Dress – Value $82
This is a cute dress and the rayon/nylon/spandex-blended fabric is stretchy enough that I can actually move my legs. The plaid does kind of accent my belly. Warning: the rest of this paragraph may be a bit TMI so you have been warned. I have a really big fibroid right now that makes my uterus about the size of a mid-2nd-trimester pregnancy (eek) and there was no way for me to take a picture that wouldn’t show up. I am having surgery for this at the end of October and I will probably start wearing this to the office *after* the fibroid is gone and I have a flat belly again.
Moving on, there were some fun details:
The sleeves were half-length and were tied off around the elbows.
And the dress came with this flower brooch.
The back was a bit of a puzzle. That strap across the shoulders? Does not detach on either side. I stepped into the zipper part of the dress to put it on and put the strap over my head. To take it off, the whole thing had to go over my hips, but the neck opening was actually big enough to fit over my hips so I guess that worked. I could zip this one up myself.
Verdict: The dress I received from Unique Vintage this month had a value of $82, which is well above the cost of the subscription plus shipping. Once again it was new merchandise (as opposed to clearance) – if you go to the Unique Vintage brand page on their site, the monthly dresses from the subscription are always near the top. I think the colors are great for fall and since I live in Georgia, it doesn’t get too cold, so I can even wear this in winter with a pair of tights to cover my legs.
