Piroucrisp Carmelized Coffee & Tea Biscuits, 0.88 oz. (Buy a pack of 12 7 oz. boxes for $34.00)
Speaking of Pirouline, first off, we have these Piroucrisp biscuits. They have a light gingersnap flavor and nice crispiness. You receive two biscuits in this sample pack. Though I ate them alone, they'd pair perfectly with coffee or tea. These almost-cookies are also just sweet enough to not really qualify as a dessert in my book. Basically, these would be awesome for breakfast or even as a midday pick-me-up.
Hub's Home Cooked Salted Virginia Peanuts, 1 oz. (Buy 2 40 oz. cans for $47.99)
These peanuts have a wonderful, natural taste. Just the crunch and nostalgia of quality peanuts -- no frills. I loved that they're not too salty and also that they're gluten and cholesterol free.
Nuttee Bean Co. Wasabi and Ginger Fava Beans, 2 oz. (Buy a pack of 12 2 oz. packages for $18.00)
These are addictive! I'm fairly new to the wonderful world of dried fava beans, and wasabi ginger might be my favorite flavor yet. They're spicy and savory without being overpowering. Fava beans are high in protein and fiber making these a filling snack for a road trip or busy work day.
Sun Rype Fruit to Go Fruit Strip in Apple Strawberry, 0.5 oz. (Buy a pack of 55 for $19.25)
I've never been huge on fruit leathers, but I do love that this snack makes a nice alternative to candy. They would be great for kids! This fruit strip was pretty sticky, though, so the aftermath might be a hassle to clean up. It's also nice that this sweet snack has that 'jelly' feel without the gelatin. It's 100% vegan with no added colors or preservatives.
Pretzel Perfection Gluten Free Twice Baked Pretzel Sticks, Chipotle BBQ, 1 oz. (Buy a pack of 3 for $10.99)
Crispy, light, and airy, these pretzel crisps also have a bit of heat to them. Their smoky southwestern spice coating gives them a surprising kick. I feel like really great GF pretzels are sort of hard to come by, and these were surprisingly tasty. Granted, I don't have an incredibly wide range of knowledge in the area, but I do prefer these to other brands that I've tried in previous boxes!
Enjoy Life Crunchy Minis Chocolate Chip Cookies, 1 oz. (Buy a 6 oz. box for $3.65)
I can't get enough of cookies lately, so these bite-sized morsels were calling to me! They're super light and crunchy, and, even though this 1 oz. package isn't incredibly plentiful, these mini cookies make a great mini dessert.
Nutiva Organic Hazelnut Spread with Cocoa, Dark, 0.78 oz. (Buy a 13 oz. jar for $5.75)
I've received SO many of these hazelnut spread sample packs via various vegan and gluten-free subscription boxes, so I wasn't thrilled to find another. Still, the dark cocoa variety is tasty, and I paired mine with apple slices for a sweet snack. Super convenient to keep at your desk.
Vegan Dream Original Hickory Pepper Vegan Jerky, 1 oz. (Buy a pack of 6 for $18.99)
Okay, imitation meats are not my thing, and I don't understand the appeal. My husband, on the other hand, is the kind of vegetarian who could eat seitan all day. The flavor of this vegan jerky was pleasantly smoky and the ultra chewy texture was close to what I'd imagine real jerky to exhibit. I'm glad to have tried it, and my husband was thrilled to finish it off.
Verdict: UrthBox continues to impress me with its quality vegan treats! I enjoyed the variety of smoky, nutty, and sweet snacks in this month's box. For $19.99, I received 8 snacks at a value of $2.50 per snack. I do think that that is a bit steep considering the small portions of most items. Being a mini box, the UrthBox Mini Vegan box contains many samples or smaller than what's generally available for purchase quantities. While it's nice to be able to try quality products from such trusted brands, I do wish that some packages were more generous. That said, exploring new healthy brands is definitely what I continue to love most about this subscription!
