A letter was included listing the items in the box. It also mentioned that the extra item for Magic Plus subscribers was in a separate silver bag.
Walt Disney World Vintage Collection Coaster – Value $6.24 (buy a set of 4 coasters for $24.95)
This ceramic coaster has a worldly vintage feel. The design behind Mickey reminds me of old-fashioned maps. The coaster is backed with cork to protect glass and wood tables. I’ve always found these ceramic coasters to be extremely effective at absorbing water. This was the extra this month for being a Magic Plus subscriber.
Mickey and Friends Mug - Value $12.00?
What a cute Mickey and Friends mug! This mug features Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy, and Pluto. I like the rainbow colored polka dot background design and how each character’s name is featured. This will definitely come in handy this fall when I start drinking more hot tea and soups.
Cars Pop Up Pencils - Value $3.99
My son was thrilled to see these Cars movie pop up pencils in the box this month. He’s starting school in a few days and put them right into his backpack to bring on the first day. The pencils come with erasers and plenty of pre-sharpened cartridges that can be popped out and slid into the bottom to push the next point up at the top.
Minnie Mouse Diva Wash Cloths - Value $3.99
This six pack of wash cloths features three colored cloths and three with Minnie. They are 100% cotton and are 12x12 inches in size. The quality of these is quite poor; they aren’t absorbent at all and feel super thin.
Minnie Mouse Bow-tique Ring and Sticker Earring Set - Value $4.99
These are adjustable rings that remind me of what you might get in a gumball machine, not good quality but certainly fun for a young girl. The earrings are actually stickers that are perfect for little girls that might not have their ears pierced yet. It would have been nice if the rings and earrings had a little more variety in designs, they’re all very similar.
Mickey Head Silhouette Trading Pin - Value $9.99?
I am unable to find this pin for sale, but I am estimating the price based on other Disney trading pins. This pin is a Mickey head silhouette in green on a white background. I wish it had been something with some more detail to make it more special. Mine had a few slight scratches on it making it feel as if it may not be brand new. Bummer.
Bookmark – Bonus
Walt Life includes a bonus promotional item. The last few boxes it has been a small jigsaw puzzle. This month was a cute pink bookmark.
The Walt Life boxes come with a pull-out insert and a small cardboard coin. You can collect the coins and if you spell Walt Life you win a trip to Disney World. Other variations will win other prizes.
Verdict: This August Walt Life box was a mixed bag for us. We really like the mug, coaster, and pencils. The wash cloths were a total miss. My concern with Walt Life is that too many of their items seem cheap and not special enough to warrant the price of the box. I would expect the value to be higher than it is as well. The value this month was $41.20 with my estimations which is below the cost of the box ($48 a month with free shipping). I am hesitant to recommend this subscription at this time, but if you’re a huge Disney fan maybe this is one to keep an eye on as they continue to work out curation and value issues.
