It's National Yoga Month, which made me extra eager to see what this September box had in store. The theme, "For the Love of Yoga", is all about appreciating yoga and using that gratitude to make the most of your final warm days and get excited for fall.
Each month there is a Yogi Surprise Sequence included. The poses in this sequence seem aimed at expanding and wringing out the core through simple moves. I found myself drawn to the orange and pink watercolor design on the front of the card—I'm a summer baby and very much a fire sign, and vivid golds, oranges, and pinks always seem to grab my attention.
There's also a card advertising some yoga paper products you can find at the Eurographics website. My bet is this is the company that does the printing for this box, so this is a bit of an ad. It's not the most relevant thing to find in this box, but it's not distracting, either.
Every month, this subscription also includes a giveaway for a retreat. This month's giveaway wants to send you to the ocean! Share a photo of yourself with your box using #yogisurprise to enter! On the back of the card, there's a spoiler for one of the items in the October box!
Spoiler alert...
It's massage oil! I love body oil, so I can't wait to see what this smells like.
Okay, back to the box at hand. Let's check out these items.
Auromere Incense Sampler - Value $10.17 on Amazon (Listed Value $9.00)
I've never delved too deeply into the world of incense, so this sampler is just the jumpstart I need. It includes eight different scents: amber, jasmine, Indian cedar, lavender, lily, rose, patchouli, and sandal.
Each pack includes three mini-sticks. I most appreciated how the packaging explained the aromatherapeutic benefits of each different fragrance.
Yoga to the Rescue: Ageless Beauty by Amy Luwis - Value $13.31 on Amazon (Listed Value $14.95)
This is a really helpful reference for the many ways that yoga can act as a remedy to the body. There are sections focused on combating physical (and mental) aging, pain, and even a bad mood. Each move is accompanied with quirky illustrations as well as tips to help you avoid injury and get the maximum benefits.

There's a little card from the publisher, too. It names a few other yoga books to check out. Cool!
Scentuals Yoga Mat Cleaner, 125 ml - Value $9.99 (Listed Value $10.00)
I was just telling someone about how I was in the market for a good mat cleaner! This rules! I love the scent of this spray. It's something of a very citrusy mint tea. It's made from a blend of oils (including lemongrass, peppermint, grapefruit, lavender, and more) and witch hazel, so it's very natural (and cruelty-free).
The vendor includes a card, as well, so that you can connect (and save, too)!
Gypsy Soul Barefoot Lake Candle - Listed Value $15.00
This candle is an exclusive made for Yogi Surprise by Gypsy Soul Organics. I did notice that most of their 4 oz candles are priced at $14.99, but there's no mention on this candle of how big it is, volume wise. I can say that the tin is about 3 inches in diameter and about an inch deep. The label says it's scented with lavender and peppermint, though it's a more subtle scent. I do love a candle in a tin (they're so easy to store), so I'll definitely put this guy to use when I want a gentle, clean scent in my home.
Yoga Design Labs Yoga Strap - Value $16.00
Yes! I love getting useful yoga tools in this box, and I've been in need of a strap. (Usually, I just rent one from the studio, but when I'm at home, I've been just using a towel to get deeper into stretches, etc.) This one has so much personality and pop, which makes it fun to use as well as sturdy. This soft, smooth strap is 8 feet long and has two metal loops on it that I can use to make this strap into a circle.
BONUS: Sheila G's Brownie Brittle, 5 oz - Value $7.78 on Amazon (Listed Value $5.00)
Now, Brownie Brittle might not be the first snack I think to associate with a healthy yoga lifestyle, but boy howdy is it good. These chip-sized bits taste like the crunchy corners on a pan of brownies. They're rich, chocolatey, and deliciously sweet. I love that they're only 120 calories per serving (though there's still a good bit of sugar in there) and that these are made with a lot of organic ingredients. But if I'm not careful, this bag will be gone in one sitting, haha!
Verdict: This Yogi Surprise box was a lot of fun. I really appreciated the blend of practical and playful items—the strap, the book, and the cleansing spray are going to help me be a more well-supplied, prepared knowledgeable yogi, while the other items will help me create a peaceful, joyful mood in my day to day life. I thought everything seemed to be of nice quality (though I'm still skeptical about the valuing of the candle), and I calculated a value of over $70.00 (or just under, if you don't count the bonus brittle). The box is $44.99, so I feel like I got my money's worth and had a lot of fun unboxing all of these surprises!
