Vega Protein+ Ready to Drink Protein Shake in Chocolate, 11 fl oz - Buy 12 for $26.97 on Amazon
I prefer plant-based protein products—especially little carton-packed drinks like this one! I gave this a good shaking before cracking it open, and I found it to be a deliciously thick, creamy, chocolatey treat. If I had this with my usual afternoon snack, I feel like it would leave me as full as a meal.
Vega Protein+ Snack Bar in Chocolate Peanut Butter, 1.7 oz - Buy a 12 count box for $19.99 on Amazon
Of course, I reached for the Vega, plant-based products first! This bar is super decadent—check out that chunky top!—and tastes as little like a healthy protein bar as it can. With the chewy combo of real peanuts and chocolate, it kind of reminded me of a far more wholesome Snickers bar!
Quest Nutrition Protein Bar in Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, 2.1 oz - Buy a 12 count box for $23.97 on Amazon
This bar sounded so decadent, and the first bite was really tasty and chocolatey. But the aftertaste was a little too plastic-y to me. The bar is really chewy and dense, but I feel like the bitter sweetener makes this a treat I won't find myself craving like I might crave the Vega bar. If you're looking for a quick way to get lots of protein (and fiber!) in one sitting, though, this might be a great, filling bar for you!
Quest Hero Protein Bar in Blueberry Cobbler, 2.12 oz - Buy a 10 count box for $26.97 on Amazon
This bar tries to be a little more like a dessert than a protein bar. It's got a gooey, jelly-ish layer on top of its cereal layer that's supposed to echo a blueberry cobbler. While the consistency of the jelly layer wasn't quite my thing, I appreciated how the blueberry flavor cut the artificial-sweetener taste. It's not as filling as the first Quest bar, and it doesn't have as much protein nor fiber, but I did like the out-of-the-ordinary flavor.
ProSupps MYBAR, Ice Cream Cookie Crunch, 1.16 oz - Buy a 6 count box for $18.14 on Amazon
I liked the taste of this bar a lot more than I thought I would. It was a weird thing to read that this "oven-baked" bar was supposed to taste like ice cream, haha! But it really does have a bit of a melted-sundae flavor. I like that it's on the crunchy side, too! There's only half the protein in this bar that's in the other selections so far, but the flavor makes up for that in my opinion.
Quest Protein Chips in BBQ, 32 g - Buy an 8 count box for $16.99 on Amazon
I love barbecue chips so much! The spices on these chips, which are apparently made from whey protein, are pretty tasty (though not bold like traditional chips are). The texture was a little mealy, in my opinion, but I like that I get as much protein in one bag of these as I would eating one of the Quest protein bars. It's a fun way to shake things up!
Dry Roasted and Salted Soft Shell Almonds, 1.25 oz - Buy a 30 count pack for $25.99 on Amazon
I've gotten these Amazon-branded, Wickedly Prime products before, and I'm usually pretty impressed. These almonds are pretty straightforward—they're the kind of simple, unprocessed snack I like to throw into my bag before an afternoon of errands. I do kind of wish they were pre-shelled, just since if I'm nibbling on them on the go, shelling 'em can get kind of messy.
Nuun Lemon Lime Electrolyte Tablet - Buy a tube of 10 for $9.00 on Amazon
When I'm working out, I prefer to just drink straight water, rather than water that's flavored with an electrolyte tablet like this one. That said, this is a relatively tasty way to recharge your body with electrolytes after a grueling sweat sesh. I had to swirl the tablet around in my Nalgene to get it to dissolve all the way, but I liked the flavor it left behind—it was sort of a low-key lime flavor, like what you'd expect from a La Croix.
Hydroxycut Super Elite, 3 Capsule Pack - Buy 100 capsules for $19.00 on Amazon
I recognized this product from commercials I remember seeing way back in high school and college. I think these are a little too extreme a metabolism booster than I'm interested in, so I'll skip trying these. They're really high in stimulants, which makes me nervous—just drinking too much coffee in the past has given me heart palpitations, so I don't want to risk that here! But according to the product information on Amazon, this product is great for enhanced energy, focus, and weight loss.
BSN EndoRush in Sour Candy, 0.48 oz - Buy 30 servings for $26.99 on Amazon
This is another product that's probably best for extreme fitness fans and body builders. This fruity pre-workout supplement includes creatine and other ingredients aimed at boosting your performance. I do appreciate that it's apparently been tested for banned ingredients and that it's open about all of the things that go into it. You should always be aware of what you're putting into your body, especially when you're working to make it as strong as it can be!
BPI Sports First Ever Ketogenic Pre-Workout Supplement, Tropical Freeze, 0.37 oz - Buy an 11.11 oz package for $28.89 on Amazon
What's a ketogenic diet? Basically, it's a carefully curated way of eating that convinces the body to use fat for energy, rather than carbohydrates. The result is super-fast fat burn. The upside, according to most keto fans, is that you can eat oodles of bacon, eggs, avocados, and other fatty foods. The downside is that the "keto" state is apparently really hard to maintain. For that reason, I'm sure having a keto-friendly supplement is much appreciated! This pre-workout mix has a tropical, fruity flavor and promises better endurance and focus.
MusclePharm Combat 100% Whey Protein Powder in Chocolate Milk, 1.17 oz - Buy a 2-pound package for $25.98 on Amazon
Whey protein is usually a little harder on my tummy than I'd like, so I usually opt for plant-based proteins if I can. You've got to shake it for a good long while to get the powder to dissolve fully, but once it's all ready, the taste is pretty good for a protein powder—not decadent, but not too bad.
Optimum Nutrition Whey & Oats, Blueberry Muffin, 1.76 oz - Buy a 14 serving package for $19.99 on Amazon
The main benefit of this shake mix is that you not only get a ton of protein (27 g!) but a bit of fiber, too (4 g). The flavor wasn't too bad—I'm digging these blueberry flavors, actually! For being a breakfast-inspired flavor, it's sort of dessert-y. I will say, though, that I think I'd still rather just eat a filling cup of oatmeal rather than have a shake. Though I do think this could be tasty mixed in with oatmeal (just as a way to sneak some extra protein in there).
The Verdict: Especially if you're very into fitness and bodybuilding, this box is a fun way to discover new and unique products you may not have heard of before. I'm not super into that world, so not everything was for me. That said, I was actually pretty surprised by how many products I got some use out of, tossing them in my purse for later or nibbling on as an afternoon snack!
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Prime members can still get this box, though the items may vary based on availability!
Value Breakdown: This box cost $9.99 (+ free Prime shipping), and contained 13 items. That means I paid about $0.77 per item. I feel like that's pretty fair—for example, single bars I buy at the store are rarely less than $1.00 each.
