My stylist, Rachel, included a handwritten note telling me a little about her selections for me and mentioned she was looking forward to my feedback. She is awesome and followed up with me to make sure I loved what I received. If I needed to, I could have easily asked for an exchange due to fit or style and she would have worked with me to find better options.
Let’s see these dresses!
First, I took a style quiz answering questions about my size, color and style preferences, for what occasions I need dresses, etc. I also had the option to choose to talk to a stylist directly or not. I would recommend choosing yes because it was super helpful!
Miley + Molly Burgundy Wrap Dress - Value $34.99
My first dress was this lightweight burgundy dress.
The top half has a wrap style ruffle neckline.
The waist is elastic all the way around which makes sliding into (and removing) this dress a breeze.
The sleeves have a subtle flutter.
The fabric is a lightweight 100% polyester crepe with a little bit of stretch. The base color is a rich burgundy with small white dots all over. The fabric is perfect for transitioning from summer to fall and is opaque, so no worry about layering to prevent see-through.
This dress is so cute and incredibly comfortable. The ruffle is a nice touch and doesn’t add bulk to my bust. I pinned the neckline because it gaped open on me but that means I can adjust my coverage level according to where I want to wear this. For smaller chested ladies, you might not need to pin at all. Or, layering a cami would always work.
Yay for a dress not being too short in the back! It hangs nicely without clinging anywhere.
Shein Colorblock Knit Dress - Value $15 (original price $28)
This dress is not currently in the store but I found it on the brand’s site. It is a 95% cotton/5% spandex knit with plenty of stretch. It is thick enough for no see-through too!
The mock turtleneck neckline and rolled sleeveless style gives this dress a mod vibe.
I was apprehensive of the colorblocking on this dress because large patterns often aren’t flattering on my frame. But, the blocks landed in the right places and I really like it. I think the diagonal cut across the front breaks it up and elongates. I can see myself wearing this into fall/winter with some tights, boots, and a cute black jacket.
The back shows off the curve-hugging style of this dress but isn’t too tight. I love the zipper neck so I don’t have to mess up my makeup when sliding this over my head.
Again, this is curve hugging but not too tight. The back is a little shorter than the front on me, so I’ll have to be conscious of that when I wear this without tights.
Verdict: Rachel knocked it out of the park for me this month. Both dresses are wearable for many different occasions (work, date night, weekend) and can be easily transitioned into fall. I have worn them to work and gotten so many good comments! For 49.99 plus free shipping, I got two dresses picked for me that not only fit well, but are perfect for my lifestyle. And, I didn’t have to leave my couch! I really feel like Avid Dresser puts a lot of effort into their customer service and trying to understand what works best for you. Rachel was very responsive to my emails and questions and I can’t wait to see what she chooses next month.
