Birchbox Man is a monthly grooming and lifestyle subscription box for men. Each month, you'll receive 3-4 sample size items to try along with another lifestyle item that you can select. The selection process opens about a month before shipping and, typically, allows you to pick 1 of 3 selection items.

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

The Subscription Box: Birchbox Man

The Cost: $20 a month ($16.25 a month with annual subscription)

The Products: Men’s grooming and lifestyle products.

Ships to: US only

This month's theme was "Go Get 'Em" and featured a few more items for on-the-go.

Each delivery comes with an information card that details the items in your box. One thing to note - the values on this card represent the full-size values - I'll break down the values based on ounces for each item!

Alternative Apparel Knit Baseball Hat in Ash/Navy - Value $28

Each month, Birchbox Man allows you to select one lifestyle item for your upcoming box. Once again, I thought I'd go for something a little different and decided to try the hat.

This looks and feels like an old-timey baseball cap. It's made with wool and cotton - even the brim is super flimsy. I didn't think I'd be a good look for me, but Liz swears it doesn't look funny when you're actually wearing it.

Anthony Facial Scrub - Value $4.50 - based on full-size price

What you're seeing here is my new favorite facial scrub!

This removes dirt and dead skin while having the greatest scent ever. You know the smell of the orange Tic-Tacs? This is that. You're rubbing the scent of orange Tic-Tacs into your face - for me, that's a positive thing.

Brickell Men's Products Charcoal Face Wash - Value $3.12 based on full-size price

The other product I tried right before the Anthony scrub was this face wash from Brickell.

This is a green liquid - it has all kinds of scents too - from peppermint to green tea - it was all over the place. It worked well, and the aloe was definitely soothing.

Marlowe No. 123 Men's Facial Moisturizer - Value $.75 based on full-size price

This is a moisturizer that I'm still working on a full-size version of, so I'm happy to have just a little bit more once that's out.

If you're looking for a basic moisturizer with not a lot of scent - this is definitely a good choice. It does exactly what it says!

Blackbird Anemone - Sample Size - Full-Size $88

This month includes a fragrance. I typically shy away from these, but I really enjoy this scent - I sprayed some on this morning and got the Liz seal of approval - so I only have positive things to say about the fragrance this month!

Jack Black All Over Wipes - Value $1 based on 30-pack

The final item in the box is two packs of wipes. These are great for on-the-go, or like this morning - you wake up and are immediately busy - they're great to stop for a second and use on your face!

Verdict: I like sampling products and building up a little sample arsenal. I also like picking the lifestyle item - and it's typically close to the value of the box - so for me, the value is always there with my Birchbox Man subscription. But, you'll have to be into trying new things and choose a lifestyle item that you really want for you to be satisfied as well.

Nice review! I read almost all of your Birchbox Man reviews before I decided to sub for myself, and I’m pretty happy with everything I got in my box.

Interestingly enough, none of our products were the same at all, but I imagine our grooming profiles are probably different.

***SPOILERS***
English Laundry Notting Hill fragrance sample (I loved this)
Hanz de Fuko Scheme Cream (too loose, did not hold in my hair)
Kiehl’s Face Fuel Face Wash (okay, nothing special)
Kiehl’s Body Fuel Body Wash (see above)
Jack Black Industrial Strength Hand Healer (awesome hand cream, matte finish)
V76 Energizing Shampoo, Conditioner (two small packets, disappointing overall)

I didn’t get to choose my additional item since I subbed too late, but I got a S’well water bottle in the teal wood finish. It’s too small, but it does work really well at keeping my water cold.

I’m going to stay subscribed for another month at least to see what I get. It’s nice to be able to review the samples and get cash back to use in their shop.

My husband enjoys this sub. They send you out advance notice on your choice of item and there are other options that clothing. They also have a $10 a month plan for men for just the grooming items w/o the lifestyle item.

The $10 sub option sounds like the way to start for my needs. Looks like I found my husband an early Christmas present! Thanks, Granny.

Thanks, Eric, I enjoyed your review. It was informative! I’m still on the fence about subbing for my husband. He would enjoy the grooming products but is just too picky about clothes, so I don’t think the lifestyle component would work. It is endearing that you run your products by Liz. My husband would do exactly the same 😊.

Sara, I do think Birchbox man just launched a $10/month sub that is more like the women’s, with five samples and NO lifestyle item. Maybe that would be more to your husband’s liking?

That sounds great and will definitely be my next research stop! Very kind of you to let me know, thanks!

Thanks for reading – glad you enjoyed my review! Typically, there is a clothing item for selection each month, but there is usually non clothing items as well.
