Box of Happies is a monthly subscription box for handmade goods. It’s a great way to discover new Etsy artisans.
I kind of like these plastic cases. They are a good size for storing beads or other craft supplies (and goodness knows, I have enough of those…). Also, I thought the happy face confetti this month was a fun touch!

The Cost: $29.99/month for a single upcoming month of your choice (when I played with the shopping cart I was also charged tax but I think that’s because they’re in the same state I am) or $29.49 for a random box from a past month; save with longer subscriptions. You can also add a bar of soap or candle to your box for $6.49, or a piece of jewelry for $8.

Plain J Body and Home Sangria Lip Balm – Listed Value $3
This was really hard to open! (There was a protective plastic outer wrap that you can’t see in the photo.) But once I got it open, it was worth it, because it has a nice, fruity smell with no artificial dyes, and it’s pretty moisturizing as well. (This shop is on a break at Etsy so I’ve used the value from the information card.)
Box of Happies Bracelet – Listed Value $12
This bracelet has the look of a bangle but, as you can see in the second picture, has an extender chain so you can adjust it to fit different sizes of wrists. The purple leaf graphic will go with a lot of different items in my wardrobe so that is nice, too.
Kinzie Shay Boutique Reusable Makeup Remover Cloths – Value $3
I really need to start using products like this more often. I go through so many cotton pads. These have a terrycloth side for actual makeup remover use and it does work pretty well. You can machine wash them with towels.
Sewing and Scents Lip Balm Holder – Value $4 (buy a set of 3 for $12)
This is handy. I have definitely put Chapstick through the washing machine a few times after leaving it in my pocket. Here is another way to carry it around on your keychain without that same risk. (You can get price breaks on this item by buying it in larger sets on Etsy; see other links at the listing above.)
Box of Happies Necklace – Listed Value $12
This is nice and simple and would look good alone or layered with some other silver tone necklaces. This is definitely to my taste as I prefer more delicate jewelry (I am not particular about metal color; you will get both silver and gold tones with this subscription as well as brass, copper, etc.) This was packaged in a little organza bag if you’d prefer to gift it.
Verdict: I calculated a value of $34 for the September 2017 Box of Happies. That’s a little above the cost of the box on a month-to-month basis. The jewelry was right on target for me this month and all of the Etsy items were useful to me, as well. (I find browsing Etsy a bit overwhelming and also don’t like paying shipping fees for unknown sorts of items. But this subscription allows me to try some of them out with a lot less risk!)
