This box comes with a card detailing the items included:

Now, on to the items!

Amazon Echo Dot - Value $49

We have an Amazon Echo already, and I was thrilled to get the dot as well - this is one of those products that once you have one, you want more for other rooms in your house!

If you aren't familiar, you can use the Amazon Echo/Alexa tools to do all sorts of things by voice command. My typical requests:

  • "Alexa, what's the news?"
  • "Alexa, play Pandora station _____"
  • "Alexa, turn living room lights down to 10%"

(That last one is for when Eric and I are being super lazy and don't want to get off the couch. 🙂 )

I know I'm only scratching the surface on how to use Alexa, so please comment with your favorite ways to use this tool with more ideas! (And check out this CNET article about great ways to use Alexa.)

The size is small, too - kind of like a hockey puck, so it's easy to hide just about anywhere.

Tesla X Arc Candle Lighter - Value $30

This is one of those products that I didn't know I needed - but now that I have it I love it! (Everyone who has seen it has been equally impressed, too!)

It's a rechargeable taser that is designed to light candle wicks:

The future of candle lighting is here! (I'm half kidding, but seriously, this thing is awesome!)

Also, looking for a fun prank gift for the holidays that everyone will actually like? You can tell people you got them a Tesla X!

Chef's Circle Digital Kitchen Scale - Value $20 (Retail Value Listed $50)

I have to admit, I'm not the type of chef who needs precise measurements (AKA I'm more of the toss the whole bag of frozen veggies in a pan "chef"), so this isn't something that's a good fit for me.

But it's a very sleek design, and would be great for precise recipe measurements, or anyone who uses portion control in their diet.

(The digital display provides measurements in grams, pounds, ounces or kilograms.)

D.L. & Co. Cobalt Woods Candle - Value $40

First, this packaging! So classy and perfect for gifting! The blue faux snakeskin print is embossed, and the D.L. & Co. label is actual metal!

This Cobalt Woods scent is described as "radiant greens and brilliant wild herbs combine with sparkling marine aldehydes, warm florals, ambered woods and enduring touches of cool white musk."

It's 14 ounces and has a burn time of about 40 hours.

The scent is clean, and I love the blue glass vessel - very classy all around!

Pebble Verto Portable Battery Pack - Value $10 UPDATE: Value $25

This battery bank will charge an iPhone 2 times before needed to recharge.

It comes with adapters for different phones/devices, too. (If your phone/tablet charges with a USB cord, you are good!)

I have a few battery banks thanks to subscription boxes now, so this isn't the most exciting item for me, but I love the matte finish and neoprene case:

This is going in my carry-on suitcase right now so that I don't forget to bring a battery pack next time I travel!

Refresh Flavor Infusing Flask - Value $20 (Retail Value Listed $50)

This is a double walled stainless steel bottle with a BPA-free plastic infuser basket. If you aren't familiar with these types of bottles, they are perfect for infusing water with flavor from berries, lemon, limes, mint, etc.

I have a few of these bottles thanks to subscription boxes, but I think this one is hands down the sleekest design.

And the mouth is wide for ice, too.

Rustico Leather Travel Bundle - Value $63

This set includes a Leather Cord Wrap ($36), a Leather Notebook ($20), and two refill notebooks ($8).

The leather notebook is a leather cover with an elastic band, and you can swap in a new notebook whenever you need one!

The leather wrap is perfect for holding your various cords/earbuds in place, and it has a pocket for any small items:

The notebook fits in nicely, too:

The leather quality is impressive in both this wrap and the notebook. It definitely has that rugged, rustic vibe!

Verdict: This box has a value of about $232! UPDATE: $247! At the $139 price, (even without the $15 coupon), I think the value is great. The curation is outstanding with this box - it always feels like unboxing the best gift ever. And the wooden box itself is really well made and a great storage box.

Even though there were a few items that weren't for me, or that I've seen in subscription boxes before, this box still impressed me! (And, seriously, that candle lighter = amazing!)

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes! As of today, 10/18, the Fall box is still available. Make sure to sign up ASAP if you want this box.

Has anyone else had a problem with being charged twice?

I signed up at the end of November and was charged then with the expectation that my first box would be the winter one. Now, though, I’ve been charged again for the winter box. No response yet from customer service. I hope I don’t have to dispute the charge.

I’m glad I read the comments. I was going to give the scale as a gift but I just opened to test and it does not work properly. I sent them a message so we will see. I hope the power bank works because I plan on using it as a stocking stuffer. I don’t see myself using the infuser. I was hesitant to give it to my teenager but I found it is only $7 on Amazon so if he loses it I won’t be upset. I really like the candle lighter. I think the candle is a little masculine but I like the scent. I have always wanted to try the amazon echo, but I will give it to my husband for Christmas so he thinks it’s his 😂

I have been stalking breobox and this was my first one. I love the battery pack, tesla x, and echo dot and have been using all quite a bit. The rustico stuff is nice but not something I would really use but will make a great gift. The candle is gorgeous and in my candle closet for a special night or hostess gift. I really wish they did not include the scale and flask. They are cheap, I have seen them at Walmart, both are on Amazon for $14-$19. I associate breobox with quality, interesting, surprise useful items. Rather than go with cheap for quantity, one item worth $30 would have been better. A leather echo dot cover could have been super cool! or a credit to order a leather phone case from a site. My scale did not work but breo kindly replaced it, which I do appreciate.

I hadn’t opened the individual items in my box because I was thinking about gifting a few of them but after seeing these comments I had to check the items to make sure they work. Sure enough the lighter and scale are not working. It’s a good thing I came across these comments and checked. Now, I’ve messaged Breo. Hopefully they will help me get these items replaced I’m so disappointed- this was my first box 🙁

I’m going to maximize my box by writing in the journal by candlelight. Then, I’ll weigh how much I’ve written before setting it on fire with my Tesla lighter. I’ll videotape the mini bonfire with my phone that I never have to worry if it’s fully charged or not because of the battery pack. I’ll invite everyone in the house to come enjoy the tiny inferno via the echo dot.

This box is perfection! See!

Reply ButtonReply

h

If the inferno gets out of hand, I’ll have that gorgeous infuser flask with special hydration handy. Left out an important safety detail. It’s even better than I thought. Wow!

Reply ButtonReply

Jenai

Lol! Don’t forget the box itself and packaging can be used for the bonfire! I’m not sure how the cord wrap would fit in though…

Kimberly

My scale does not work at all. At first, it wouldn’t zero out or level at all. Now it just won’t turn on at all. Other than that, I’m pretty happy with this box. I love the box itself and the contents are all useful or giftable. I love the lighter. The candle smells wonderful and my son is going to love it. I will definitely use the dot. The leather set is probably going to be gifted at Christmas.

Reply ButtonReply

h

So glad I happened to see your comment on the sidebar. My scale WILL NOT zero out and will not stop moving or zone in on any number, regardless of oz, lb, etc.

My box was split and torn apart. They were really nice and offered to even send me a new wooden box, but I declined. I chalked up the broken scale to the damage in shipping, but I guess not.

Has anyone had problems with their power packs or Tesla starters? I’m having lots of problems with this box.

Reply ButtonReply

Mandy

My scale did the same thing and my lighter never worked. My battery pack works great but Breo has been working with me to replace the scale and lighter. I have a new lighter coming straight from Tesla X and was told to call My Life My Shop at (888) 358-0331 but thy said I need to arrange a replacement through Breo. 🤷‍♀️ I tried calling back and only received voicemail after waiting on hold for 15 minuets! Very frustrating!

Kimberly Schneider

I’ve emailed my life my shop regarding the doa scale. They said to contact Breo Box. I contacted Breo Box and they gave me a phone number to call my life my shop. And they said to contact Breo Box. Anyone have any luck getting a replacement for the non-working scale?

Reply ButtonReply

Matthew

You said the candle is 14oz but the picture says 8.5 which makes it the $30 version not $40.

Reply ButtonReply

sarah

I love how luxe the candle is, but the scent is like heavy men’s cologne. :-/ I know it’s gotta be hard to do a unisex box though.

Reply ButtonReply

Chadi

We actually did a survey on 5 different scents with 15 women and 15 men and The Cobalt Woods scent was overwhelmingly preferred by both. Candle scent is a tough one to pick!

Reply ButtonReply

daniellevargas115

Thats exactly what I thought ! I don’t like the smell of it at all

I was a wee bit disappointed with this box, my first, after seeing the summer box. They’re nice, don’t mind me, but many items aren’t a universal fit.

I have several bank chargers and am oh so disappointed in this one. It seems like a company had oodles of outdated ones lying around and gave Breo a great deal on them. While you can add your own cable, thank goodness, the original cables that came with it don’t work with the majority of newer/up and coming cell phones. Lightning adaptor? USB-C adaptor (the new Samsungs are the only ones that use that one so I won’t ding them for that. I gather the newer Apples still use Lightning.)

Other than the lighter and the Echo, I’m tempted to swap or sell everything else. I paid WAY ahead of time. Next time, I’ll wait until I see what’s in it.

🙁

This box is awesome. On a side note, is anybody finding that this site is now crashing constantly when viewed on an iPad?

Reply ButtonReply

MNM

Had to bite on this box. I can use or gift everything–and I so want that candle lighter. It’s going to change my life.

Reply ButtonReply

Mandy

Bummer…my lighter and scale don’t work. 😔 The scale won’t level out and the lighter just flat out won’t work even though I’ve charged it and tried it several times it just doesn’t do anything.

Reply ButtonReply

Chadi

We’ll take care of this for you right away Mandy!

Contact Breo. They will replace them immediately. They are very responsive to customer service emails.

I use my food scale for baking. Much more precise.

Nice box. I have the echo dot and still learning like you, Liz. I mostly use it to listen to music and you can ask it what’s on tv or what’s playing in movie theaters near you. I still haven’t figured out how to set it up to turn down lighting and stuff, so you guys are ahead of me.. I not a huge techy gal, so this is a new thing for me to learn. I’m not sure if I’d get this box for that reason, but I enjoy reading your reviews.

The more I see this box reviewed, the more I want to cancel all my other sub boxes and get this one!!!!! Every Breo box has been so good!!!!

Me too but this would be a great gift to my hubby for Christmas… Ohhh god bring on black Friday and manic Monday and deals deals deals. Really cool box of all kinds of goodies you never knew you needed.

Great review and box! I would use everything. I subscribed last season but I haven’t been charged for this quarter. I hope I get this box.

Hi Shawn,

Are you sure? What’s your email?

I personally don’t think this box comes even close to the awesomeness that was their summer box. The only thing that really jumped out to me is the lighter, which is hella cool!

They included a water bottle in August, so the fact that we’re seeing another one is kind of meh to me. Things like the notebook, charging bank and the food scale while are definitely practical items, they don’t feel unique to me at all. I’ve seen those items one or more times in other sub boxes.

I don’t know…I’m really glad I didn’t grab this season’s box despite the fact that I was so impressed with summer and I really want to see this company thrive. This box just doesn’t seem as well rounded as past boxes.

Reply ButtonReply

Chadi

Thank you Amber! We hope to win you back for winter, we have some big things planned for that box since it falls near the holidays.

Zo

I feel the same way. I’m leaning very heavily towards cancelling after this box. The wrong RVs bother me more than anything.

Hi Zo!

We base our RV off MSRP prices directly provided to us by our vendors. It is never our intention to misconstrue the value of the products in breo to our subscribers. Secondary marketplaces such as Amazon prices fluctuate so it is extremely difficult for us to base RV from such sources. It is our passionate goal to provide the best value than any other subscription box on the market while still delivering a high-end & boutique experience to our subscribers. Hope you stay on, we have big things planned for Winter 🙂

Chadi

Hi Zo!

We base our RV on MSRP and unfortunately marketplaces like Amazon allow any person or 3rd party to sell on causing RV to fluctuate greatly. It is never our intention to misconstrue the value of the items in our box to subscribers, it is our passionate goal to offer the best value per dollar than any other subscription box while still delivering a high end & boutique customer experience! If Fall wasn’t for you, stay tuned for winter we have some big things planned 🙂

Virginia

This is a great box. It has at least three christmas gifts and items for me. I have been deprived. No Amazon Echo, no laser lighter, etc. I have succeeded in life without them but they would certainly be nice to have. Think my power company would understand if I did not pay them this month?

Reply ButtonReply

Beatrice Lawson

Meh. Already have a digital scale for baking and tons of iPhone chargers, not to mention infuser flasks (and if I eve see another water bottle in a box I will lose my mind.)

But the thing that shocked me was the estimated RV for a candle that’s made in Vietnam out of paraffin – never mind beeswax, but not even soy? Makes me feel much better about spending $ on the Jo Malone and Diptique ones. And makes me wonder if maybe I have outgrown boxes because there’s no way they can select things that everyone will adore in every box; if I end up thinking every month that I’m better off just spending the same amount on two items I really want and paying full price… then perhaps it’s time to move on. Le sigh. First world problems. I do love the packaging though:-)

And a general comment on the advent calendars this year – is it me being a grouch or are all of them so far unimpressive and overpriced? I was dying to spend money on the Omorovicza LF one then saw the spoilers and gave up. Same with the 5th Avenue Style and the Luxor ones – the spoilers were so underwhelming – one with a ridiculous overpriced watch and the other with an oxidized bracelet cuff. Holding out hope for net-a-porter. If they disappoint too… I’m done with calendars.

Hi Liz. Can you tell me where you found the pebble for $10? I would love to buy some at that price!! Thanks

P.s. I’ve been on the wait list for swaps for two months already. Does anyone know how long it takes to get approved? I’ve emailed MSA and they just said I’m still in the wait list :-/

I just got an email yesterday that I was off – it took roughly two months.

Reply ButtonReply

Liz Cadman

Hi Kc,

So weird – when I was getting the prices for the products last night, the pebble was $9.99 at Amazon, and today it changed to $25! I will update the post accordingly. Sorry about that!

And we’re opening up the swap waitlist today, look for an email from [email protected]

Reply ButtonReply

Sammee

I couldn’t find it anywhere for $10 either. Although there are a few on eBay for under $15.

I never got a message that I was off the wait list. One day I just tried to sign up and it went through.

I’ve been on the swaps wait list for about 2 months as well 🙁

I use a food scale to weigh my swap packages, so I can print a label from home.

Reply ButtonReply

Adele

Haha, I do the same. I send my extra samples to my niece and the boxes I end up using fit on my food scale perfectly. I do also use it for weighing food/liquids, it’s perfect for when I need to be precise.

Reply ButtonReply

Ariana

We also use our food scale for mailing. 🙂

vanessa

I would love to buy this box as I would use or gift everything in it – except for that leather wrap thing.

WTF??!?? And it’s the most expensive item in the box & the most useless.

Major eyeroll, Breo. Way to inflate the overall RV of the box with scraps.

Not the sort of box I would likely subscribe to, but I love the concept of the wooden box packing!

People who don’t cook can also use the scale to weigh items for swapping. You can print a label on PayPal Postage if you know the weight and save yourself a trip to the post office.

Great idea – I already have a good scale and will get the box tomorrow – I will put it up on swaps for anyone who does not already have a good scale – they really come in handy for all sorts of things. I use mine at least weekly.

oo! That’s a great idea! Thanks, Jen!
