2 Justin's Mini Peanut Butter Cups - Buy a 4.7 oz bag for $5.99 here

I'm a big fan of peanut butter cups. Really, is there a better combo than peanut butter and chocolate? Oh wait, there is—peanut butter and dark chocolate! I love these little bites from Justin's, who is one of my go-to grocery store brands for great nut butters. The peanut butter in these is a little lighter and fluffier than the oily stuff you find in a certain big-name PB cup company (though I love 'em so), and with the addition of the dark chocolate, these cups have a fruity, almost floral note to them that feels very sophisticated. Yum!

Alma Sea Salt Hazelnut Crunch, 2 oz - Value $6.00

This bar packs so much flavor (sooooo much flavor) into each bite! In addition to the hazelnuts studding the back of this bar, there's also a fluffy kind of hazelnutty cream inside. The more I ate of this bar, the more flavors jumped out at me, from floral dark chocolate to bold, biting sea salt. The sweet and savory combination made me think there was caramel in this bar! All in all, it might've been a little overpowering for me, but it was an awesome chocolate experience!

Chococurb x Chocolat Avant Garde Bar in Smoked Sea Salt White Chocolate Bar, 2.5 oz - Value $10.00

This was by far my favorite bar of the box. I'm usually a milk chocolate person, and I don't go ga-ga for caramel the way friends of mine do. But I couldn't resist this gorgeous little bar! First of all, the sky-blue and white splatters look so pretty over the vanilla hue of the chocolate. It just looks fun and appetizing, doesn't it? Flavor-wise, it was love at first bite. The white chocolate is the perfect weight—it's just thick enough that you get that satisfying "crack" as you snap a brick off the rest of the bar, but it melts in your mouth almost instantly. The caramel did have a pleasant smokiness to it—it's interesting, but not overwhelming or campfire-y. I couldn't stop nibbling away at the bricks of this bar. It's just so cute, and it's got the personality to back it up!

JCoco Edamame Sea Salt in Milk Chocolate Mini Bar, 1 oz - Value $2.50

Now, this is a combination I could never have expected! When I read "edamame", my mind immediately thought of the bold Asian flavors that accompany edamame beans. So in that way, the bar was a little underwhelming. It was essentially a (DELICIOUS) milk chocolate bar with little dried edamame beans dropped into it. The beans had the same effect as slivers of almond—they were a bit flakier than a nut might be, but the taste was very mild and the bite was tender. They made for an interesting textural element, and maybe they added a hint of saltiness, but the star of this show was definitely the milky, flavorful chocolate!

Theo Salted Toffee 55% Dark Chocolate, 3 oz - Value $4.00

I'm not the biggest toffee fan, so this bar wasn't my fave. But I bet it'd go over quite well with toffee lovers! The chocolate squares are just thick enough to have a satisfying bite to them, and the chocolate has that earthy, almost fruity richness I like in darker varieties. The saltiness wasn't too overpowering here, in my opinion, so I could nibble at a few of these without feeling overwhelmed. (Though having a big glass of milk on hand is always recommended.)

Forte Orange Jazz Dark Chocolate and Orange Essence, 1.58 oz - Value $8.50

I know it's only fall, but this orange-infused bar reminded me of the holidays! I loved the juicy brightness the orange "essence" brought to this savory-sweet dark chocolate bar. And the shape of the bar is so cute, isn't it? I love the raised and lowered tiles.

The Verdict: I'm smitten with this box of adventurous chocolates! Not everything blew me away, but I felt super sophisticated snacking on these artisanal squares. I feel like these aren't the flavors I would reach for at the store, either—I usually default to a milk chocolate something or other... something standard. But I'm a budding foodie, and I love the idea of trying new things. These flavors were a ton of fun!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No. Order by the 10th of October to get the October box!

Value Breakdown: If the cost of the box is $35.00, the average cost of each of the 6 different kinds of chocolate I received would be $5.83. Some of the chocolates are definitely worth that, but others, like the peanut butter cups, probably are not. But I can see the value of curation (finding these chocolates, picking them based on my tastes, covering shipping) as making that value balance out.

Have you tried Chococurb yet?

It all sounds delicious to me! Great descriptions of the chocolate, Anna. Unfortunately because of the price and living in Arizona (either melted in transit or exorbitant shipping, I’m sure), I probably won’t get a chance to try this subscription. 😭

Helen

I love, love, love chocolate but none of this looks even a little appealing to me. I am so tired of sea salt in everything. For $35 plus shipping it is an easy pass.

FYI: This box has the worst customer service ever and shipping to some places is $20 per month because it’s always considered “warm weather” (never free)

Never impressed by the value of this subscription at all.
