Dave's Gourmet Overnight Oats in Blueberry Vanilla Almond - Value $3.49
I like when I get single serving oatmeal in sub boxes. It's happened before and makes my life a bit easier in the morning. The difference in these is that since they are overnight oats, you add milk to them the night before you want to enjoy and pop the container in the refrigerator. The next morning, you just stir them up and they're ready to eat. These oats have chia seeds with them too, which are a great source of Omega-3 fatty acids. I received the blueberry vanilla almond flavor which looks like the one I'd probably choose if I were buying this in the store.
Bush's Chili Beans (Kidney Beans) in Spicy Chili Sauce - Value $1.29
Chili season is upon us, my friends. This dude is going straight into a pot on my stove to party with some ground beef, tomato sauce, and a myriad of seasonings. My Dad has a pretty delicious chili recipe that I've made before, so I may use his instead of the one listed on the can and on the Degustabox info card. Good to know these are vegetarian in case anyone wants to use them with fake meat crumbles instead!
Bush's White Chili Beans (Great Northern Beans) in Mild Chili Sauce - Value $1.29
What about this dude? Yea, he'll get his. They've included a special chicken chili recipe on the label here, so I'm going to give it a whirl. I can feel the tortilla strips snapping in my mouth now. Avocado garnish? Yes, please.
Loacker Quadratini in Raspberry-Yogurt - Value $4.59
I'm not going to complain that these aren't the hazelnut flavored ones. I won't! I'll be happy with what I have received. Wafer cookies are some of the best snacks available to humankind, even if they're fruit flavored. October happens to be Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Loacker USA has donated a minimum of $35,000 to the Susan G Komen Foundation in connection with this specific product. Hazelnut or not, these are delicious. The wafers are light and crispy and the raspberry yogurt cream inside is nice n sweet. I could easily eat this whole bag before I finish this review...
Welch's Fruit 'n Yogurt Snacks - $2.75
Ok, this fruit and yogurt thing is getting a little out of hand now. These are good though. These little cherry fruit snacks are super soft and are coated in a creamy yogurt. You get 8 packs in the box, so they're great for kid lunches or something to tide you over until lunch.
They've included a coupon as well if you want to buy more.
Boboli Original Mini Crusts (2 pack) - Value $3.99
I'm embarrassed to say how excited I was when I pulled these out of the box. Boboli bread shells have been there for me every step of my life, it feels. Pizza is very near and dear to my heart and I love it in all forms. These ready-made pizza shells are so frigging tasty, and all you have to do is throw sauce, cheese, and toppings on these to make a super good lil personal pizzie. Perfect for those nights that I don't have it in me to make a full meal kit dinner.
SunButter Creamy Sunflower Butter, 2 oz. x 2 - Buy a 16 oz. jar for $6.99
One of my best friends is deathly allergic to peanuts, so I appreciate all of the alternative butters out there. This kind is made from the less-threatening sunflower seed and tastes pretty much exactly what you'd imagine: a creamy butter version of the sunflower seed flavor. I'm into it!
Kernel Season's Popcorn Seasoning in Kettle Corn and White Cheddar - Value $1.49/ea (Total Value $2.98)
They have these seasonings at my favorite local indie movie theater and that little popcorn kernel mascot has always cracked me up. Look at the little hat. Because, it's like, a Colonel. An officer of popcorn? I can't get down with the Kettle Corn flavor because I don't promote popcorn being sweet (though I like caramel corn, so don't try to make sense of it), but I will definitely jam out with some white cheddar! My roommate taught me how to make popcorn the old-fashioned way in a pot (with coconut oil, which is a game changer), so this seasoning is going all over it!
Hippeas in Vegan White Cheddar - Value $2.99
These organic chickpea puffs are a huge hit in the MSA office and I'm still not sure if I'm on board. The vegan white cheddar flavor is especially beloved here, but there is something kind of "off" about them to me. I was told, "No- you have to keep eating them to understand". I feel the same way about natural cheese puffs. At first, they taste like cardboard, but the more I eat them, the more I can't stop shoveling them into my face. I think I'll just pass these off to my coworkers though.
Goetze's Cow Tales Minis, 4 oz. bag - Value $1.69
If you're familiar with caramel creams or "bull's eyes", these are the same thing in different form. These candies are made of a little "tale" of caramel with cream inside. I like or dislike these depending on the way the wind blows. They are each individually wrapped and are soft but not too gooey. The center cream is a little chalky, but I think a lot of people love that about it.
Verdict: I was quite pleased with Degustabox this month. I thought the chili beans were very timely since everyone I know is making chili right now, and I was overjoyed to see Boboli in the mix. There are a lot of things in here I will be using and snacking on until the next delivery comes.
