Fabletics is a monthly fitness apparel subscription co-founded by Kate Hudson. You can shop Fabletics in two ways—you can shop the regular store, or you can sign up for their VIP membership. VIP memberships work like this:

  • Take the Fabletics quiz, which will let the company know your size, style, and fitness needs.
  • Each month, Fabletics will curate looks that match your preferences. According to the website, outfits start at $19.00 for new members. (I'm not sure if "new members" refers to just your first order, though.)
  • Shop those looks at 40-50% off what you'd get just paying retail, or skip the month. You have to make your decision by the 5th of the month. If do neither, the $49.95 monthly membership fee will be saved to your account as a credit, which you can put towards other outfits later.
  • As you shop, you'll also earn points that can be applied to accessories and other cool fitness essentials.

The key takeaway here is that this subscription won't automatically send you monthly packages like other services do. You have to hop into your account and either decide to add items to your card or skip it. Subscriptions can be canceled at any time, though you do have to call into Fabletics customer service to do it.

Here's my invoice for this month. It's great to know that if something doesn't fit (or just doesn't fit the bill), I can always return it.

I got a coupon for Blue Apron in this month's package! I'm already super familiar with this meal kit delivery service, so I might pass this coupon on to a friend who's curious about it.

Dorinda Outfit - Retail Value $104.90, VIP Price $49.95

I've mentioned before the struggle of shopping Fabletics for outfits at the $49.95 entry-level price point. Basically, the subscription already charges you $49.95 per month, but a large number of the outfits they present to you each month are priced above that level. That's not horrible—you're still getting a discount off the retail price and Fabletics products usually have the quality to back up the price. Still, $49.95 per month is already a decent amount for me to dedicate to activewear each month, so spending more seems a little strange. So I tend to pick simpler looks, just because they meet that $49.95 price point.

The good news is that the look I picked this month features one of my favorite products from Fabletics—the Salar legging! These leggings are on the thicker side, have a comfy, soft feel, and feature a slightly higher rise that I find really flattering and secure. They're 88% polyester, 12% elastane, so they have plenty of stretch, but they're thick enough to make me feel like everything is being held in. Plus, how great is that teal color?!

The top was a little more simple, and the fit didn't wow me. (It was cut a little too straight for my curvy body.) It's a sheer 76% nylon, 24% elastane top with a mesh-like feel. It's very breathable, so it'll be great for a sweaty yoga class.

Verdict: The quality was on the mark for this month's Fabletics, though I could've done with a bit more pizzazz in terms of style. As usual, I wish there were more options at the $49.95 "entry level" price, but I do just love the quality that I get from these pieces. These Salar leggings are my jam. They feel comfy and secure through every twist and turn of my yoga class, and every burpee of my Sunday boot camp class.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes! Sign up here to nab this look in your size, or browse other styles.

Value Breakdown: This outfit cost $49.95 + free shipping. The original, non-VIP price is $104.90, meaning I got a savings of about 52%.

When I found-out that they were stealing 50€ a month from my bank account, I called to get out of their program. I was told I couldn’t get out. I had to go to their website every month to pause something, to keep them from stealing my money. I’m a single mother of 3. So, for the next year, I got a reminder email on the 1st, and went in to pause the month. Nov 25th, I received another such email. I went in to pause it; it said it was paused. I wrote them to tell them I wanted out of their VIP program. On Dec 14th, they stole another 50€ from my bank account. PayPal refuses to refund the money. I have deleted my method of payment in PayPal, cancelled any authorization Fabletics had, and written AGAIN to say that I WANT OUT.

If they want anything else from me, they can explain to a judge, why they refuse to release me from their legalize-theft program. I bought 2 outfits this last year, and only 1 of those 50€ credits was applied. A pair of pants that I bought was credited back on to the store credit.

These people are total thieves, and refuse to let you out of that VIP program. DO NOT EVER AUTHORIZE THIS COMPANY TO DO ANYTHING. EVER!!

I skipped this month because I haven’t been working out. But wow, I love those leggings.

I have a terrible issue of being long legged. I have to go with the “tall” which is ALWAYS sold out in the Salar leggings. I have gotten lucky twice in my yearly subscription and I check every month for them!

It’s gotten to the point that I don’t even bother checking because I know I’ll be disappointed. But those look great on you!

I love the color of those leggins! The top may seem plain, but I am always searing for a black top to go with colorful leggins, so you will get more use out of it than you expect. 🙂
