GlossyBox is a monthly beauty subscription box. They have the best packaging in the business, their products are usually deluxe size or full size, and the value is usually good too.

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

FYI: GlossyBox sends out multiple variations of the box during some months. So, there may be some variation between what I review and what you receive.

The Subscription Box: GLOSSYBOX

The Cost: $21 a month (save more with 6-month or annual subscription)

FLASH SALE - For a limited time, use coupon code TABLET to get a monthly GlossyBox subscription for only $10 a box for the first 3 months! (You don’t need to sign up for a 3-month subscription, your $10 rate will just be locked in for the following two months of billing.)

The Products: Deluxe and full-size beauty products.

Check out all of my GlossyBox reviews and the list of the best beauty and makeup subscription boxes!

Ships to: US and Canada

Each box comes with a fold out card detailing the items included:

Now, on to the items!

Rituals Shower Foam in Happy Buddha – FULL SIZE! Value $15

I've sampled Rituals Foaming Shower Gel before thanks to subscription boxes, and I like the formula a lot. (It's a gel that turns into a lathery foam once it makes contact with water.) The cedar + orange scent is perfect for fall, too. I think this is my favorite Rituals scent!

Jafra Girl Squad Perfume - 7 ml Value $4.50

This scent is a blend of White Nectarine, Vanilla, and Red Musk. I appreciate the mini spritzer size, but this scent isn't a good fit for me.

Clove + Hallow Lip Glaze in Spicy - Size? Value $7?

(There's no sizing listed on this lip glaze, so I'm guessing it is about half the size of the full size version.)

This is an ingredient conscious liquid lippie. It's a bit of a hybrid of a gloss/lipstick. It has excellent pigment and shine, but it's not going to stay put for hours like a matte liquid lipstick.

(Subscribers will either receive the shade Spicy or Angelic)

Here it is swatched:

It's a bold color, but I could use only a small amount to get a subtle gloss and wearable shade.

Vasanti Cosmetics Eyeshadow Brush - Value $21

I'm always happy to get a quality makeup brush in a box, and Vasanti delivers! This brush has densely packed synthetic bristles, perfect for minimizing fallout when applying eyeshadow.

LUE by Jean Seo – Erase Powder - FULL SIZE! Value $15

This is a new-to-me brand and I'm impressed!

It's similar to a powder cleanser. You add half a tablespoon of water to a tablespoon of the powder, make a paste, and let it sit for a minute on your skin. Then massage it off and remove with water. It helped clean my skin, was gentle, and I loved the oatmeal scent, too.

Lastly, this box included a coupon for $50 off a watch order from Mockberg:

(Watch prices start at $149.)

Verdict: This box has a value of about $62.50. That's pretty good for a $21 beauty box. And I really liked all the items this month, so I'm happy!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes. If you sign up in October, your first box will be the October box.

Coupon –  For a limited time, use coupon code TABLET to get a monthly GlossyBox subscription for only $10 a box for the first 3 months! (You don’t need to sign up for a 3-month subscription, your $10 rate will just be locked in for the following two months of billing.)

Value Breakdown: At $21 for this box, here’s what you are paying approximately per item:

  • Rituals: $5.04
  • Perfume: $1.51
  • Lip Glaze: $2.35
  • Eyeshadow Brush: $7.05
  • Erase Powder: $5.04

WARNING!!!!!! Do NOT subscribe to this company! The customer service is awful – basically non-existent. The number they give is never answered and the “chat” feature is always down! I cancelled my subscription and they renewed it anyway. I sent 10 emails seeking resolution and they refused to cancel my subscription. I am working with my state’s attorney general’s office for resolution. I received numerous boxes with damaged or missing products – no resolution. Not with the money! Mediocre products at best and AWFUL customer service!

Is anyone else receiving a flood of emails from “Super Jewelers” after this box? I swear I get them hourly and I am thinking it has to do with this Mockberg deal. I even went to their link to unsubscribe and am still getting them!

WARNING: Be sure to read all of Glossybox’s “policies” before subscribing. I signed up for the 3 month for $30 special subscription the last of July 2017, after reading the reviews here. I received a box in August and one in September. I was charged $58.50 in October for renewing my subscription. When I contacted customer service on October 9, 2017 to tell them I never renewed my subscription and ask them to cancel the subscription and refund my money, I was told, per their policy, all renewals are automatic and I needed to cancel before the 15th of month prior to my the renewal subscription starting to get my refund. I sent several emails trying to explain that October was my third box and the end of my subscription so I should have been entitled to my refund. The next email I received said I only had 30 days to report a missing box. Apparently, I should have received a box in July, but was never informed that I was getting a July box, so I never knew to expect it or report that I didn’t receive it. Please be careful if you try this subscription box.

The same thing happened to me last summer with Boxycharm. I had signed up for a six month plan at the end of November and was going to cancel, but they billed me for another six months after only sending five boxes. I contacted them and they said oops you were supposed to get a November box, so we will send you one now, but we will not refund you for your second six months which you don’t even want. Being conned into paying for another six months when it was their fault that they never sent me a November box in the first place is extremely rude. How was I supposed to know they forgot to send me the box? I just assumed I was starting with the December box. And the November box I received in June was pretty old by then. Can you tell I am still pretty upset. I will never go back to Boxycharm, they are evil.

Liz, do you (or anyone) know what the process is when you hit the button “reactivate my subscription?” I want to use the code. I got a $10 deal once in the past and would do it again. But I don’t want to hit reactivate and have no option for the code and/or no opt out before being charged.

Thanks.

I signed up for August box through Mysubscriptionaddiction.com and received my first box properly in the end of the month. I really wasn’t interested in Glossybox anymore and, I canceled on August28. What was my surprise when I saw another charge in October! Thinking that this must be mistake or computer glitch I wrote to Glossybox and after one day I got response:

Brittany (GLOSSYBOX)

Hi Karolina,

Thank you for writing in!

After reviewing your account, I can see that your cancellation was processed on 08/28. The charge of $21 was the September charge.

Per our policy, all plans are recurring, unless cancelled within the term deadline (15th of the prior month). Renewal reminders are sent out three weeks prior so that customers are aware and are given the time to make any changes, if necessary.

Our records indicate that the plan was not cancelled until after the deadline which is why it renewed. Your subscription plan has been cancelled to stop future renewals, but it will not cancel or refund the current term/order. The September Box will be the last shipment.

Ok, so I canceled in August, they charge me October for September box, great!
Nothing keeps me more secure like other company try to manipulate my own account!
Another thing, it is unheard of any business who charge their customers month before sending their products and it is smells like scam!
Another thing, I couldn’t find on Glossybox webside any information about canceling. After long search, I push Subscribe button and I found it! Under big red Subscribe button, hardly to see you have few cancelation words written in almost blank letters in this way that you will miss it for sure!

Well, now I have to go and inform my bank about my stolen money.

Enjoy your box and keep it in your mind that it is not regular cancelation policy like with other boxes.

Before reading Liz’s review I was wondering if anyone else received the Ouidad. I was a little dumfound when I opened my box and saw the Ouidad instead of perfume which is great. Love my box.

I got the same thing….I’ve been paying 21 per month for you months or so now, and thinking I should cancel. ..I’ve read they have black friday sales, wonder if that is cheaper the waiting out the 10 dollar for 3 months, but yet I don’t like or want to have to play the sub, cancel, sub game, but when you know so many others are only paying 10.00 it kinda bad for me at least.

A coupon for $50 off of a $150 watch is not exactly a gift. Sorry, I am still very down on Glossybox.

It seems like I’m in the minority here but I absolutely loved this month’s box! It was by far the best one I’ve received in months.

I received the same products as Liz with the exception of the perfume (thank goodness!). I received an Ouidad product instead. It seems like it might be a great product for my wavy-curly frizz prone hair.

The only thing I will not use is the Rituals shower gel. I hate the smell. But 4 out of 5 is great!

I totally agree — I think it’s a very solid box. I, too, received the Ouidad and really like it.

I hate that some people have had bad encounters with Glossybox, but in three years I haven’t had anything but positive experiences. The products are interesting, generously sized, practical (I almost always use everything I receive) — and they aren’t usually repeats of brands you see in every other box. Many of my very favorite items EVER from beauty boxes came from Glossybox, so I feel pretty loyal to them, even if there’s a less than stellar box now and then.

FYI, you need to cancel 6 weeks in advance. As in, if you get one box on sep 24 and don’t like it, you email to cancel immediately, YOU STILL HAVE TO GET THE NEXT BOX. I cancelled Sep 10, and they still charged me sep 23 and sent out the next box in oct.
I would have to have cancelled before I signed up. Ridiculous!

That’s actually how they make the awesome deals at the end of the month work for them. It’s definitely something you need to be aware of and factor in how much the next month’s box will cost you. I stick to the $10 a month for three months deal and skip the month between them so I don’t have to double up on boxes.

I didn’t think I’d like this box, but I actually kind of love it. I got the Ouidad featherlight styling cream instead of the perfume, and so far I’m really liking it. My lip tint was the Angelic shade, which is a great nude lip color for me — pale but not too pale. I know I’m in the minority here, but I usually find Glossybox has a more interesting and diverse and useable selection of products than most other boxes.

This box is incredibly lame, one of the worst I’ve seen from them in months. As soon as I have enough points to redeem my free box (hopefully by Dec), I’m so done with Glossybox. I have to be. They always seem to reel me back in with a good box or two in a row and then back to consistently crap I don’t want or can’t use, and I feel stuck. I’ve always paid $21 for the box, too, so I’m also annoyed that so many people are able to get it for only $10. For that amount it might be worth it, but otherwise I feel ripped off. (I also think that might be why the contents have gone down hill from where they were two years ago.)

I have to be strong! It took me forever to finally cancel BeautyFix, for the same reason (box after box with a majority of items that didn’t appeal to me) and I occasionally have remorse when I see a good spoiler, but I’m still glad I cancelled and at some point I’ll be at peace with parting ways with Glossybox too.

I also received the Pink Peony Overnight Water Mask instead of perfume.

It’s .24 oz and the full size is 1.5 ounces for $50 so the value is approximately $8.35.

I’m pretty happy with the box as the Pink Peony is a large enough sample to be functional versus a perfume.

I can always use another good eye brush for blending so I can more or less keep colors separate until I wash the brushes.

I’m looking forward to using the bath foam and the Lue erase.

Who knows about the lipstick but really even when I test a lipstick in the store, it’s hit or miss so given the functionality of the brush and the bath foam for me, it’s a good value.

I signed up because they were offering the free phone case last month and it didn’t come with my order 🙁

So, the $10/box coupon was first released on 10/05/17, and I resisted as long as I could. Like others have mentioned, watching the unboxing videos sucked me in and I re-subbed today. I am hoping to get the Estee Edit or the blush stick instead of the perfume, and also the lighter shade of the lip gloss. Can’t wait to smell that Rituals product!

I’ve been with Glossybox for about 7 months and I have never had any of the issues that people are posting about with 2 exceptions. I had a blush arrive broken. So I took a picture of it and emailed it to customer service and I got a brand new one 3 days later. The other problem I had was with my free box with my redeemed glossydots. I thought I never got it. So I contacted customer service and the link they sent me said it was delivered. Well the problem with that was it was delivered but it was stolen from my mailroom. I live in an apartment building and I had had a birchbox delivered that day which was also stolen. So I contacted both companies and I have to admit birchbox was better about resolving my issue. I emailed them and I received a new one like 4 or 5 days later and they included a free gift for my trouble. Good job birchbox. Glossybox on the other hand gave me a link to file a case with USPS USPS gave me a case number which I had to then send to Glossybox before they would send me a replacement box. But they are sending me the replacement box which is the October box so I’m psyched about that because it’s a great box. But I e never received expired, dried out, cheesy products from Glossybox. They are always delux to full-sized products and include a lot of skin nacre products which is exactly what I’m looking for. I subscribe to birchbox for the makeup products. I’ll admit customer service can be hard to reach. The best way to get them is to private message them through Facebook. But I have to say that when I was experiencing the issue with the missing Glossybox we were messaging back and forth so much that a customer service representative actually called me to talk personally to make it easier on me and we got the issue resolved. Overall, I’m a happy Glossybox subscriber and am starting a new 6 month subscription. I’ve found that if I private message them and explain things calmly and politely they return the favor quickly. I’d recommend Glossybox to others

I cancelled months ago and still get emails from Glossybox to join again. I got an email a week ago and Glossybox was bragging that the October box had 5 full size items. This is exactly why I cancelled. They lie all the time about the size of the items and the value. They have different emails out there to different people and different on their website. Why? It’s not helping them. I’m not going to be lied to.

Reply ButtonReply

LB

I noticed on the website for this month they show 6 items. One is a Ouidad product I haven’t seen in any spoilers yet. Odd and shady for sure.

Reply ButtonReply

Joy

I received the Ouidad product in my box. I have wavy-curly hair so I’m wondering if they only sent it to people who have curly hair types? I can’t remember if that was one of the questions in their beauty survey though. But yeah, it’s super weird that they showed 6 products but only sent 5. I thought for sure they learned their lesson after last month’s guaranteed (but not at all true) 5 full sized products. A lot of people rightly complained on their Instagram.

Allison

Glossybox CS is generally totally unhelpful. I will not be renewing and I would encourage others to steer entirely clear of their subscription. For $10/box, the potential hassle is worth it. But not when you’re paying full price.

Instead, try Boxycharm. Allure has been stepping up their game as well. And for just a few bucks more you can get BeautyFix, which is my personal fave!

I signed up with $15.00 for 3 months and order CEW box in Sept 30. still waiting for my box coming it take up to 14 days for the box to ship. I just wondering why it take so long for them to ship since it seem like not so much different for everyone and same CEW box for everyone. finally got my tracking in 3 days ago its still sit in their warehouse. I would totally cancel my sub after I receive my box.

Reply ButtonReply

JuJu

Based on my own experience with their limited edition boxes, you need to have some patience with them. I remember one of my boxes took over a month to ship. I am not saying that it’s okay, it’s just how they are.

Reply ButtonReply

Jen

I got the exact same box and am pretty happy with it. I’m not much of a perfume wearer, but the rest of the products are useful, and the sizes are great.

Reply ButtonReply

Bonnie

And I got the Ouidad instead of the fragrance. I was really hoping to have the fragrance, but I have found that with many subs, if you don’t get one of the variations, you often get it in a later box.

I have the spot clearing stuff from by Jean Seo and it works so well. I use it at night and by morning I’m pretty much clear(I get a couple monthly blemishes)… So I’d love to try that erase powder as part of my regiment.

Reply ButtonReply

Joy

Do you use the Jean Seo Balance serum as well? I’m curious about trying the three step regimen. I’m always looking for good acne products that won’t destroy my sensitive skin. I’m especially intrigued given that these products contain so few ingredients and are all natural. I’m glad to hear that the spot treatment works. I might just have to try the whole line!

Reply ButtonReply

Luna

I have two of those same spot clearing treatments (one from Cocotique & one from an Ipsy offer), and I just replaced a different one I finished tonight with this one, so it’s promising to hear that it actually works. It has an interesting scent that I’ve smelled before, but just can’t place. It definitely doesn’t smell like oatmeal like the cleanser!

I also happen to have received two of the powder cleansers too (both from different Ipsy offers). I gave one away though.

Oh god, I watched an unboxing video and I caved. There is something wrong with me but I will use 4 our of 5 products unless I get a different version.

I blame Sephora play for making me constantly check for spoilers.

Something must be wrong with me also, because I ended up thinking “eh, what’s $10” and subscribed!
I guess with three months for $10 I can stay for a while 🙂 and in this particular box, depending on the scent of that perfume, I might actually end up using all the items.
