This month Go Native! talks about momona, which is when the fat of the land is reflective of the richness of its people.
The contents are listed on the other side of the card.
Kapalai Organic Bug Spray, 2 oz
I wish this came earlier in the summer so I could have used it more, but it will have to keep until next year. This is an all-natural bug repellent that doubles as a soother spray on itchy bites. You can really smell the witch hazel and peppermint. This is infused with organic Maui vodka, too, which acts as a natural repellent.
The Savior Salve, 1 oz
I love a good natural salve and prefer to use them over something like Neosporin any day. This one is made with comfrey, olive oil, coconut oil, and a whole bunch of other amazing Hawaiian ingredients that are known to soothe and tame any irritation you may get from a rash or sting. It is also good for scrapes and bruises, which means I'd feel confident using this after getting a tattoo for the first few days before switching to a lotion.
Kupanaha Products Lilikoi Butter, 4 oz
I was very surprised to see a food item come in Go Native! because it's never happened in the four months I've been receiving this subscription. This "butter" is almost like a pastry filling. Lilikoi is a yellow passionfruit, which is what gives this its sweet flavor, which I enjoyed on toast. I may upgrade and eat this on a crumpet instead.
Puulaau Remedies Vanilla Mint Tint Stick, 0.5 oz. - Value $18
This is a vanilla mint tint stick, but to me, it smells more chocolatey. When I spread it on my lips, it's super moisturizing and a bit tingly thanks to the mint. I dabbed it on my cheeks a few times over and still didn't notice a big difference in tint, so the color here is very subtle.
Here's a swatch to see its subtlety.
Verdict: Go Native! is supposed to have a retail value of $70 this month, according to the info card, but I couldn't find most of the items online to confirm retail value. There is also a fifth item listed on the card as "Go Native Handcarved Block Print Stamp." They didn't include an actual stamp, so I'm assuming they're referring to the stamp used for the packaging this month. It's kind of bizarre to include that considered like an item when it's just a decorative part of the box. If you break it down, you're paying $9.50 for each of the four items (since the box costs $38.00). That seems a little high this month, but all of the items are handmade and all-natural, so maybe it's not too off base (the one item I could find online is almost double that price).
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No. Their cutoff date is the 15th, so if you order today you will receive the October box.
Value Breakdown: At $38.00 for this box, you're paying about $9.50 per item received.
