The theme for October was 'Ghostly Fall Season'. A 10% coupon code for the iPenstore shop was included. They also send a couple of delicious caramel candies!
Sheaffer Calligraphy Fountain Pen Introductory Kit – Value $11.97 (on Amazon for $9.95)
I've bought this set before – I actually had one in my desk already – but I was very happy to get another, this time in pumpkin orange. This is a great set if you're new to calligraphy and want to try out different nib sizes and inks without spending much money. The green ink is particularly nice. It even comes with a basic lettering guide!
Caran d'Ache Colorblock Fluo Pencil, Fluorescent Orange – Value $2.97
Mobius + Ruppert Magnesium Two Hole Pencil Sharpener – Value $1.69
This highlighter pencil is very bright! It's a thick pencil, so I appreciate that they also sent a double sharpener that fits it.
Schneider Line-Up Fineliner Pen, Apple Green – Value $1.79
I like that this is sort of a ghostly ectoplasmic green for October, though I'm not quite sure how to use this pen since it's thinner than a standard highlighter but too pale to show up easily on its own.
Jinhao X750 Rollerball Pen, Metallic Black Shimmer, Chrome Trim – Value $6.97
This heavy pen has a dark glittering surface that's difficult to capture in photos. The quality is really nice, though I did find the ink to be somewhat smudgy. The pen is refillable, and a refill was included.
Parker Jotter – Value $9.97? (this version had no box)
This ballpoint pen isn't the best writer in the box, but it's pretty and is a nice reminder that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Word Pocket Notebook in Mist – Value $3.33 (a set of three is $9.99)
I get a lot of notebooks from subscriptions, but I've been using this for several days now and it's easily my favorite item in the box. It's meant for to-do lists, and each line has a pale dot in a circle. What you do is dot the items as you add them, and circle the dot for particularly important tasks. You X out the circles as you complete the list. This method works really well and I'd definitely reorder more of these.
Noodler's Blue Ghost Invisible Ink sample – Value $1.25
This ink glows under UV light! I wasn't able to test it, but it's a perfect inclusion for a ghostly box.
Verdict: I estimate a retail value around $38, which is well above the cost of the box. This was my favorite iPenBox that I've received so far. The calligraphy set and Word notebooks are both fantastic, and I liked the creative inclusions that fit their ghostly October theme.
