Im new to ipsy, October is my 2nd time with ipsy, but does ipsy even listen to your preferences? I said I didn’t prefer mascara but I’m getting mascara, and I said I have oily skin, and theyre giving me dry skin lotion??

The bag is so gorgeous this month. Aw I didnt put mascara in my preferences but Im getting the Tarte 4 in 1 mascara, chella brow pencil, dirty little secrets eyeshadow in bronzed, UD eyeliner, First Aid Beauty ultra repaircream

It’s not on the spoiler list that I can see, but now that I can view my bag contents, one of the items is a Luna lip crayon in Elara! It looks gorgeous 🙂

I tried the hack last month but couldn’t get it to work but I’m not great with computers. My account says I can see what I’m getting tomorrow.

I did get an ipsy shopper email last week to get $5 off & 20% back to shop certain brands products which I didn’t take advantage of since I’ve got more makeup than I need already. My monthly Ipsy glam bag is enough to add to my addiction/collection. Anything else I get on sale at Ulta plus I’m saving up rewards points for Christmas shopping.

I don’t think I would pay extra to choose an item each month either. $10 is enough to spend.

I absolutely adore this months bag!! I think it may be one of my all time faves!! As for the samples, I chose the Meech & Mia loose powder eyeshadow in the purple colour!! Can’t wait to receive this bag!!

I love the new bag and I requested the UD liner because I am in love with all UD in general but I wish I could also request that Tonymoly hand cream. I still am working through the last Ahava hand cream I am working through from them but wow, I have been wanting to try that hand cream….I hope they hook me up with both things since I rated the hand cream highly.

I am bummed to not get a real say in any of the samples in the future but I have the same thing going with Facetory–no choice on what shows up. If things change too much with Ipsy and the samples just aren’t working for me anymore, I will just get a different box, probably the Sephora one. I work at home and I only wear makeup when I go out with my husband so I am mostly all about skin care.

I was looking on reddit and there appears to be an ipsy survey geared to their “exciting personalization feature” coming up. It seems they are asking subscribers how much more- in a dollar amount- they are willing to pay on top of their regular sub price- to be able to choose one of their samples out of the 5. Thought people would like to know. I just cancelled last month so this doesn’t affect me personally. I had ipsy for 1.5 years when I cancelled. I had allure for 3 months, was going to cancel, and they offered me the next 4 months boxes at $10 each. Ipsy didn’t make any attempt at keeping my business. I just joined birchbox and the first box was $5. I think I want to have boxes that value my business and offer something occasionally. There are so many places to purchase from, that seems like common sense. Just my opinion of course- but it did prevent me from feeling I was missing out by cancelling.

I feel that! I sometimes feel like such a sucker for joining ipsy–twice–when there were no promotions going on. Every once in a while I consider cancelling just to re-join when they’re offering free bonus items with signup–that feels way more lucrative than saving ten bucks or so with a year’s subscription.

(I’m sure that they have measures in place to prevent people from doing that, but still.)

BTW Birchbox has a founder who is a bit…umm…out there. And gives no craps if people sub because the sub isn’t good enough. (Paraphrased) So there is that, too.

Ipsy is already giving an average value 75% above the cost of the box – which is very good for a subscription box that only costs $10 including shipping. I’d much rather them stick to that model than over inflate the price of the box and rely on gimmicky promos.

I do like promos in the cases of boxes that are higher priced and so riskier to try, but with Ipsy it’s low cost and even if one only ended up liking a few items in a bag, the retail value is definitely there, and unwanted items can usually be gifted.

Interesting! I personally wouldn’t participating in paying even more each month because it already costs me CDN$20 and it is barely worth it since pretty much everything is sample size (and even then – some of the samples are extremely skimpy, like The Balm’s).

I don’t know… I don’t feel like it’s fair to charge more. They’re just samples. If these were full size products I would have a different opinion.

? The ones they let you pick from were all full size, not samples, with varying retail from about $12-$40.

I would be all about the Makeup forever foundation, but chances are slim it’d come anywhere near matching my skin tone..

My thoughts too! Foundation needs to be a close match. However, if you don’t open the foundation, sometimes a local store that carries it will exchange for the correct shade.

The actual bags lately have been really a lot better than in the past! Ones I actually will use, but are still fun a quirky! For a while they were all childrenish bags. I’m excited for this one! Love the bat detail!

it looks like i’m getting the it powder, tarte mascara, dls eyeshadow, and the other two i’m iffy on… it looks like another eye brush and some sort of skincare product. i only got the spoiler to work.

If you don’t want to mess with the hack, try installing the app. Mine says it will reveal my contents on the 5th.

Thanks! Hack says I am getting the Meech and Mia (I requested the purple), The Bye Bye Pores powder, Dermalect nail polish, Tarte Mascara (??? got it last month, oh well), and something – can’t tell what it is. Looks like a pink container with something white inside, maybe a moisturizer (white cream)?

There is a chrome hack I think where you ‘inspect’ part of the page and do something with the code. Haven’t tried it, but you can probably Google for Ipsy chrome hack and find it.
