Each box comes with a card detailing the new beauty launches:

And each month they include a little bonus item like a piece of candy:

Personally, I would love if they brought back the stickers they featured last month and gave us a new set in every box!

Now, for the items I picked this month:

Julep Nail Polish in Dot - Retail Value $14

Julep describes this shade as a "Celestial Blue-Violet Glitter."

It's sparkly and dark - perfect for Halloween!

Julep Nail Polish in Johnny - Retail Value $14

This is a true black creme polish with a high shine finish. Normally I stick to pale neutral colors, but with Julep's October collection, I thought it was time to go all in and embrace the dark side!

I got full coverage with one coat, and two coats for somewhat full coverage on the glitter polish:

I went with a glitter polish accent nail and spooky stickers on the black nails!

Halloween Decals - Value $6

If you like the look of nail art, but you are a terrible artist (me), these are for you! They're easy to apply (just like stickers), and you can seal them with top coat.

Julep Creme to Powder Eyeshadow Stick in Plum Shimmer - Value $18

This eyeshadow stick has a smudger on one side and a glide-on eyeshadow on the other side:

This goes on so smoothly, the pigment is fantastic, the shimmer is nice and subtle, and it has great staying power, too.

Here it is swatched:

Verdict: I'm happy with all my choices this month! I definitely have enough neutral nail polishes in my collection, so it was nice to branch out with dark colors for October. This box has a retail value of $52, and I think that's a great deal for a $24.99 box you can completely customize.

I highly recommend this subscription if you love nail polish and/or you like having control over your beauty box items! (And I also recommend doing the 3-month subscription at $19.99 a month for better savings!)

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No. You have to sign up by the 20th to get the next month's box. Then on the 24th, you'll be able to sign into your Julep Maven account and select the items you want for your box!

Value Breakdown: At $24.99 for this box, here’s what you are paying approximately per item:

  • Nail Polish: $6.73
  • Nail Polish: $6.73
  • Stickers: $2.88
  • Eyeshadow Stick: $8.65

Can you pick other things like beauty items instead of nail polish every month or do you always have to get at least one polish every month

Hello,

I am thinking of getting this box and using the promo offer of 12 Nail Polishes. I wanted to ask, what you do think of the consistency of the nail polish, how fast does it dry, and how good is the applicator?

Thank you in advance

I am LOVING the new Value Breakdown in reviews! I’ve been wanting to do that myself, like for earlier months of various boxes, but I can’t quite figure out how to do it. What formula do you use?

Liz Cadman

Glad to hear you love it! Thank you!

Here’s the equation: (value of item/value of box) * (Box cost)

Hope that helps! 🙂

I don’t have mine yet. According to tracking, it is still in the FedEx system somewhere and not yet transferred to the post office. Oh well. Maybe it will be here by the weekend so I can do my nails (I got the full polish collection this month).

Hopefully they only send me one sheet of stickers instead of the 96 sheets they sent me a few months ago…

Can’t wait for my box to arrive here! The funny thing is that I live really close to a Fedex hub in another state (like, 10 minutes), but all my shipments need to travel 170 miles North to my state’s hub before getting into the USPS system for delivery. My box literally passed by my house on Monday, but is now traveling North to come back South in 2-3 more days.

And, oh by the way, it’s shipped from a place literally 2 hours away from my house. But it wasn’t even shipped until yesterday. So hopefully it won’t actually take that long to deliver…

I get a couple of subscription boxes shipped from Atlanta and they take like two weeks to get to me, even though I live in an Atlanta suburb.

I didn’t get mine yet either. Scheduled for delivery by the end of the day Saturday….

I’m a die hard Julep fan – always will be. My only disappointment this month was that Johnny was offered as part of the October release when it’s an older polish. I bought it at least 2 years ago. I would not have liked using one of my “swap” spots to get it if I didn’t already own it. However, it’s a great classic Halloween color so I understand the re-release but I like using my swap spots for new products I haven’t tried yet (or to get another of a very favorite item). Great review, as always. I can’t wait to use the cool decals!

Thanks! The decals are so fun 🙂

Johnny is an incredible black polish! I’ve had it since last October’s collection & it really is perfect for Halloween.

An added bonus is that it’s named for Johnny Cash, the original Man in Black.
