This month's theme is "Gulf Coast Summer".
Watermelon Lime Organic Green Tea, 2 oz - Value $6.95
I was instantly drawn to the watermelon scent the second I opened this packaging and was very excited to try. This tea is as sweet as candy, but not overbearing due to the smokiness of the green tea; it's very refreshing and nothing like I've had before!
They also included some information on the family-owned brand, along with some brewing suggestions, which I appreciate because I'm new to loose leaf tea. I had my first cup hot, which was delicious, but I look forward to trying this sweet tea cold!
Island Seasoned Sea Salt by Salt Masters, 1.50 oz - Value $6.00?
The Salt Masters site doesn't list how much this salt is, so I took a guess at what the value might be.
This is so much more than "salt" to me - It's more of a seasoning that I can see myself using most days in the kitchen. It consists of pepper, chili flakes, coconut sugar, and garlic - The overall taste is somewhat on the spicier end, which I appreciate, and I plan to pair with mostly chicken or other white meats. I have nothing similar like this in my current spice assortment, so this is a definite winner in the box for me this month.
Beachin! Sea Salt Soap by Smitten Organics - Value $7.00
This soap smells so good - It reminds me of summer at the beach with a nice refreshing breeze! I wasn't aware of this until I read the packaging, but sea salt is a natural detoxifier, so not only does this bar smell absolutely amazing, it will help remove the toxins from your skin. I'm not the biggest fan of bar soaps and this scent is actually a little feminine for me, so I think I'll gift this for an upcoming birthday - nonetheless, the scent is really great and I think this will be a perfect gift!
Gulf Coast Seasoned Fish Fry, 12 oz - Value $3.50
This fish fry mix is a blend of cornmeal and spices and is meant to give your fish a light and crispy flavorful coating. It's also gluten-free, which I assume is rare for most fish fry mixes and a win for those who try to keep a low gluten diet. I'm not a fan of fish, so this mix isn't for me, but quite a few people in my family are - so I look forward to preparing this for them in the future!
Garlicky Geengo Hot Sauce by Hot Line Pepper Products, 6.5 oz - Value $6.99
I was hoping for some hot sauce in this box, so I'm happy that My Texas Market delivered! This sauce is made with fire roasted jalapeno peppers and tomatillos, which really reminds me of Texas flavors. The hot sauce packs quite a punch, while not being too spicey - It also has a nice garlic zing, which helps give more flavor to whatever you're pairing with. I added this to my eggs during breakfast and it really made the dish more spicey and special.
Verdict: This was my first experience with My Texas Market and overall I'm pretty impressed. I think they did a good job of sticking to the overall theme, while still giving a variety of different products to enjoy. The estimated value received is around $30, which is about $5 less than the cost of the box. This doesn't bother me as I really enjoy discovering new small-batch items and helping support smaller businesses.
