What the heck? I got an amazing peppermint lip balm last year from Ipsy (Jersey Shore Cosmetics) for 100 points. Now they offer one for 500 points? WHY are they gouging us with the point values anymore? Pisses me off.

Probably because Michelle Phan left the company and the suits have taken over.

When they offered the items at lower point values, they sold out quickly and so. many. people complained about that… when demand exceeds supply, price goes up.

That’s a good point! It’s like how when online companies do 99cent sales it generally leads to website glitches and many dissatisfied customers who couldn’t get to the products or even see the sale before everything was gone. Then instead of happy sale buzz, the company gets flooded with complaints. In those cases, where there is limited inventory or lack of infrastructure to support a flood of customers, its smarter for the company to avoid sales that are ‘too good’ of a deal to pass up.

Probably some sort of monetary adjustment 🙁 Either it costs them more to get the products, or they aren’t getting a very good profit margin, or less brands are willing to give stuff for free or cheap with the number of subscription boxes competing now – something like that perhaps.
I won’t have enough points to redeem anything for a few months, but it is nice that they do have stuff I would actually use now and then.

Right? Guess they just calculated that it wasn’t worth having the bigger/better point rewards :/ On the upside, it seems like they’re investing more in bag design and quality 🙂

I totally agree, I’ve had ipsy for 3 years now and I used to get tons of amazing full size products with my points, full size benefit mascara, hair oil, cc cream, etc. now I have a ton of points I’m holding onto until something actually worthy pops up but I’m starting to doubt that’s ever going to happen.
