Ceramic Elephant Mug - Value $13.99?

There are a lot of products like this one online, but I couldn't find this specific elephant mug. The one I linked to above is pretty similar, though. I think the terracotta details on this mug are splattered onto the design, rather than worn away or natural... but I could be wrong, haha! The pale turquoise-gray color is nice and seems apropos for a little elephant. I really love elephants, so I think this is a sweet design (though I do wish it was just one solid color). The head provides a place to drop your tea bag, too!

White Tea and Ginger Essentials Scented Soy Candle, 7.8 oz - Value $10.50?

I couldn't find this candle online, though, like the elephant mug, there are plenty of similar candles. I went ahead and linked to one of those similar brands to convey value. I really love the aroma of this ivory-colored candle. It's clean, herbaceous, and a little floral, too. It's the kind of thing that would be perfectly suited to a peaceful bathroom. The glass votive is nice, too. It looks as clean and simple as the fragrance smells.

Rich Radiance Shea Butter Cleansing Wipes, 30 pack - Value $4.00 (Buy a 3 pack for $11.99 on Amazon)

I keep face wipes in my bedroom (for nights when I'm too lazy to go through an official end-of-day face washing), my car (for a little post-workout refresh), my purses... everywhere! I love having them handy, and I appreciate that there are so many in this package that I'm not likely to run out for awhile. These wipes aren't terribly moist, but they have a nice buttery, clean fragrance and don't leave any residue-ish feeling behind.

Crafters & Co. Cuddle Up Organic Chamomile Herbal Tea, 12 Sachets - Value $16.99?

I linked to a similarly sized container of a different tea by this brand above. I loooove the flavor of this tea! Just a whiff and my mind goes right to that snuggly holiday season feeling. There's a bit of peppermint, chamomile, and lemongrass in this blend—they're all organic, too. It looks like this was originally made for Hallmark stores, presumably as a gift. It's probably not as "crafted" as teas from smaller or more sophisticated brands, but the flavor is still lovely.

Dream Chaser Macbeth Collection by Margaret Josephs Sign - Value $10.00?

I'm not having luck finding this online, so I just took a guess at the value here! This is about the size of a 4" x 6" photo and has a hollow back. I think it's wooden, but it's pretty lightweight. The font style isn't quite my thing, though I do love the metallic gold trim and the bright colors. The sentiment is nice, too, just not quite me. I could see this being a good gift for a teen or tween's bedroom!

The Verdict: Peaches and Petals had some fun finds inside this month. It's funny that the one item was originally made for Hallmark stores, as I think that's the perfect way to describe the items that you get with this subscription—they're cute, playful, gift-basket types of items that might not be the greatest quality, but are definitely charming. The face wipes seemed the most out of place to me (they just have a more dollar store quality to them), though I will definitely get lots of use out of them. And I really love the scented candle. It'll make a great addition to my bathroom.

This box cost $19.99 with free shipping, but I estimated a value of $55.48. Note that most of those values are estimated or based off of similar items, rather than the exact items I receive. Still, I think it's a fairly priced box for what I got.

Just a fun fact, the woman who runs the “Mac beth” collection, the sign in this box, is the new cast member of real housewives of nj, if anyone watches 🙂

Here is a newbie. Does everyone get the same set of items each month or there are variations or just totally random?

Elena

Nevermind. Yesterday I contacted their customer service with question about coupon codes for the first time customers and if I could get their October box because I love the theme. The reply I got the next day was rude and unhelpful. She ignored my first question whatsoever. And began with what subscription are you asking about. What the heck! Make several customer service emails for each of your subscriptions! She also refused to accomodate my wish to get the October box. I’m very doubtful that they all are sold out. Well… Popsugar, here I come!

The elephant mug! Love!!

Looks like their curation is getting tighter! I like that they coordinated the mug with the tea, & there seems to be an overall cozy theme that’s perfect for a fall box.

Hugo Tea (the company that made the Hallmark tea) is actually a small Kansas City-based tea company. Hallmark is also headquartered in Kansas City, hence the connection. I buy their tea with some frequency, and it is a small, sophisticated brand, despite the big Hallmark name on the tin!

Fellow Kansas Citian here. Love that tea!

Crick

I don’t know if anyone noticed but the mug has a crack on the top rim in the pic

Reply ButtonReply

Anna Reilly

Good catch, Crick! I will say it’s not actually a crack, I don’t think—it’s more like a seam that didn’t get smoothed over. Still not the greatest thing to see on a mug, though, huh? Thanks for your comment!

I noticed that too (it actually triggered a bit of OCD in me and I’m usually not that bad…lol) and what I think was bugging me was that it did seem to be such a clean, sharp crack as if it was done in manufacturing and didn’t happen “accidentally” after. I wonder is it deep enough to maybe tuck in the string of a tea bag to help hold it in place?!?! Whether or not that’s its intended purpose, I would at least try to make a use out of it so I feel better. Haha.

Sara

I can tell you the tea is made for Hallmark, and anything for Hallmark is not cheap.

I thought for sure that candle price was too high, but i found the brand online and, while it is out of stock, the price listed was $14.95, so I stand corrected.

I have no idea what the last item is. Did I miss a “front view” photo?

I wonder whether the tea bag will fall out on your face when you tilt the mug to drink from it.

amber

The last item is a little wall sign that says “Dream Chaser”. You can see it in the photo at the top of the page where she displays all the contents.

As for the tea, you are only supposed to steep for a couple minutes, and take the bag out before you drink.

I suppose it’s a matter of personal preference but leaving most varieties of tea leaves in hot water for too long will result in a bitter or astringent taste. I don’t set a timer or anything, but I always remove my tea bag after 3-4 minutes.

Annabella

I don’t know if anybody does that? I make a huge mug and let the bag sit in the tea and continue to seep flavor until the tea is gone (takes hours).

carol

The website 13Deals.com/teaplease didn’t work for me, but I searched their site using “organic tea” and this brand came up. Three cans of one kind of tea (12 per can) are $8.99. There were four different kinds to choose from, but the chamomile was sold outl

The elephant mug was also on their site, for $5.49.

Charlie

I say it every time… this is a scam. $20 for items they are getting for dirt cheap is insane, but I suppose people decide to buy it. I just don’t get it.

Reply ButtonReply

Michelle

I think this box is actually worth the $20- compared to some of the boxes I see on here for more. I usually think the same about this sub box, but this one actually has decent items.

Kaleigh

You could say that about a lot of subscriptions – all companies have to get these items at a discount – the value is in the curation and the surprise. I always think about how much I would pay for an item, and typically to me Peaches and Petals delivers a perfectly good value – 5 items for $20 is $4 an item, and I don’t see anything up there that I wouldn’t pay at least $4 for. Now, could I possibly also get something similar at the dollar store? Maybe, but then I’d have to hunt for it myself.

Reply ButtonReply

Anna Reilly

That’s sort of my feeling, too, Kaleigh. Especially after the excitement of opening the box is gone, these items are basically just simple, inexpensive gifts that Peaches and Petals probably got at a steep discount. They’re not the greatest quality, nor was I super wowed by any one item, but it does make for a fun surprise each month. And like you said, I could see myself paying about $4.00 for each of these things at a store. The trick is, of course, are these the things you’d WANT to spend your $4.00 on? Are they interesting to you?

Thanks so much for reading and commenting 🙂 I really like seeing everyone’s takes on boxes like these, good and bad!
