Onto the masks!
Leaders Aquaringer Skin Clinic Mask - Value $1.93 (buy a pack of 10 for $19.29 from Overstock)
Starting out strong with this one. This mask is moisturizing and toning, and its intense hydrating properties make it a great candidate for the very dry-skinned. It also claims to "diminish dead skin cells." While I didn't notice a huge difference in the texture of my skin aside from some increased hydration, I did feel as though my skin was brighter and more balanced upon removing.
Collagen Crystal Eye Mask - Value $0.93 (buy a pack of 10 for $9.24 from Jet)
I've used similar under eye masks as this one from Sephora and really enjoyed them. They've been especially effective for me on long flights or after a sleepless night! Two kidney bean shaped patches fit comfortably under each eye. I smoothed them onto my skin to ensure a tight fit and left them on for about 30 minutes (per the instructions). They offer a cooling sensation and I did notice that my under eyes appeared plump and bright. I definitely struggle with this area, so I'm considering stocking up on these! Definitely handy for those of us that experience restless nights.
Dermal Green Tea Collagen Essence Mask - Value $2.33 (buy a pack of 10 for $23.26 from Walmart)
I love green tea masks! So refreshing! This one was no exception. I found that it was very moisturizing and calming on my face and left my skin firm and smooth. I'd imagine that this one would be great for sensitive or irritated skin.
Neogen Code9 Oxygen AHA Bubble Peeling Mask - Value $3.50
Ah, a BUBBLE mask. These have certainly been an internet sensation as of late, so I was stoked to give this version a try. Upon opening the packet, the sheet was black and folded up very tightly. It was absolutely soaked with a milky white serum that began to bubble and change consistency as I carefully unfurled the small sheet mask package. It bubbled even more as I began to smooth the mask over my face. After about 10 minutes, it appeared that my face was coated in a layer of grey bubbles. Pretty cool!
The scent of this mask was citrusy and clean, almost like detergent or soap. All of that extra serum began to drip into my eyes a bit as the bubbling was activated, but it wasn't irritating. The sheet was actually a great fit for my face overall -- wide and small. Towards the end of the application, the mask began to feel a bit tingly. Super cleansing and my skin felt clear and glowy! Definitely a favorite.
InnisFree It's Real Squeeze Mask, Rice - Value $1.50
The sheet of this mask was very substantial. The thickness allowed this sheet to hold a lot of product: a milky, lotion-like essence with almost no fragrance. This mask had a real softening effect on the skin. I used it at night before bed and awoke to refreshed and glowing skin.
EkeL Vitamin Ultra Hydrating Essence Mask - Value $1.50?
This hydrating essence mask was absolutely drenched with serum! It has a very subtle lemon scent that was very pleasant during application. I left it on for about 20 minutes, again, before bed, and I awoke to a noticeable glow. Overall, a pretty decent mask, though I wasn't able to find it available for purchase online.
SNP Bird's Nest Aqua Ampoule Mask - Value $5.36
What a standout! As soon as I opened the package, I could tell: this one works. The scent is strong, slightly medicinal, and almost perfumey. I could see it being a little offensive for some. This one features a cellulose sheet soaked with essence that promotes collagen synthesis for healthy, calm, and elastic skin. It induced a noticeable fresh and hydrated glow.
Dermal All in One Shower Pack - Value $3.00
This is basically a 3-in-1 shower in a bag. Different sections of the package offer different treatments. 1: Cleansing foam for the face, 2: Shampoo and rinse for shiny, clean, and conditioned hair, and 3: Body cleanser and towel to clean skin.
First, I used the cleansing foam on my makeup covered face. It created a really thick lather which was nice and luxurious and did a good job of removing makeup (though I did find remnants of mascara). I was hesitant about the shampoo and rinse because I'm used to using a conditioner in addition to my shampoo, but it actually worked out well. My hair is pretty thick and oily, and this shampoo mixture was effectively clarifying. Lastly, the cleansing towel was sort of weird. It had the look and feel of a dishcloth. It wasn't uncomfortable on the skin, but I did feel a little silly washing myself with it. Overall, though, this product would be great for tossing into a weekend bag for a short getaway.
Sooryehan Bon Extra Moisture Skincare Trial Set - Value $1.35
This trial set of 3 mini products includes a sample of each of the following: Bon Extra Moisture Cream, Bon Extra Moisture Emulsion, and Bon Extra Moisture Skin. The 'skin' product is sort of like a toner and probably my favorite of all 3. The emulsion was very difficult to get out of its tiny bottle. I ended up resorting to putting a Q-tip in there to get the product out. I used it as an allover lotion-like treatment and then applied the 'cream' to the undereye area as well as some patchy areas of my face. I found my skin to be moisturized, soothed, and radiant in the morning, though it wasn't a dramatic difference to my usual night oil.
Verdict: This was my second box from Piibu, and it was pretty wonderful. The Neogen Code9 Oxygen AHA Bubble Peeling Mask was a total highlight!
Value-wise, this box provided 8 masks + 1 trial set for $20.00. This puts each product at a $2.23 value. Pretty reasonable considering that some of the items are worth more like $5 or $6, but I'd love to see more quality masks in the future. I'm also excited to see how Piibu compares to Mishimask and Facetory going forward.
