Where’s an October spoiler?!

can you do this if you are already signed up? I have subscreibed for a couple months now, but I would like this intro box/deal.

For those of you that are so angry to see repeat items, realize that YOU are not Popsugars target demographic for this box. Or any box with the same goods we have seen time and time again.

It is literally called an introduction box, and Popsugar is obviously using a third party site to reach a broader / new audience. So we all have the umbrella and the bowl and the swan floats and the stamp set, etc. It doesn’t mean that they aren’t nice or enjoyable items. A person who has never experienced Popsugar may just very well be impressed and excited to receive these goodies.

Don’t want doubles and triples of things you’ve already received? Cool; skip the introduction boxes, and skip the mystery boxes which are literally advertised as compilations of distributed goods. I’m all for people expressing their opinions on the quality of a fresh new box. But to whine about repeats in these clearance boxes is ridiculous.

Ashley

Why care so much about others opinions? Its nothing to get upset or irritated by.

Reply ButtonReply

Amanda

I’m not upset at all, haha. I just frequent this blog a ton, because like most on here, I love sub boxes and love seeing their opinions on products!

There are literally hundreds of outraged comments every time Popsugar sells a mystery box. So, I think it’s worth adding a new perspective to the conversation. These boxes are meant to entice a new audience and Popsugar is not wrong for creating incentives to get rid of old product. Call it brand loyalty; I just think it’s worth adding dialog because I believe they’re a pretty great sub service that don’t deserve to get chewed out over mystery boxes and clearance sales, when their standard service is one of the best around.

Arden

Thank you. Seriously, I love the moral box high ground committee. Really showed us! (Urp)

When my order from the PS 75% off summer sale finally showed up a month after I ordered them, two cosmetics had clearly been returns which had been opened by the prior customer, restocked, and then sent to me as new goods. They were not new, and were in fact dried out (and used by a prior customer!) The smith & cult also had its seal undone and showed a great deal of scratches and scuffs to the polish cap, even though it was bundled in bubble wrap in my box. It was the first time I had ordered from them. They are no longer the quality company they apparently used to be.

Reply ButtonReply

Lauren

that is how all caps are, they look dented. Its their thing.

vane

Yuck!!! Now I’m questioning all the mystery boxes I have ever purchased from them! 🤢🤢

My latest 3 months at 20% off goes through October and it was $94 with tax. So you get the intro box for $11. It’s a good deal, but I’m going to keep my current subscription, see what’s spoiled for November and potentially buy it, but plan to hold out for Black Friday. I hope the deals are as great as last year!

While I do need an umbrella…my demon dog decided to play with mine the other day…I will never, ever, ever, EVER buy another mystery box without full spoilers. Not after the Gilt city debacle. I might bite once the contents are revealed since I’m not a PS subscriber and I think it’s a good deal w/ a 3 month sub, but that’s entirely dependent on what those items are…it’s possible they’re different from the GC boxes since neither the book nor the umbrella were in them. We shall see. I hope this doesn’t lead to another post full of unhappy comments, entertaining as that was.

Reply ButtonReply

Rebecca

Hey Wendy! Would you like to swap? I have the umbrella shown here, and I’m on the swap site. 😊 Just click my name!

Nicole

I’m kind of confused how this works. If I do the intro box + 3 month subscription, is that an intro box and then October-December boxes? If that is how it works, isn’t that a pretty good deal for anyone who is looking at starting or re-starting their subscription? I’m sure most of the Intro box items can be donated or gifted.

Reply ButtonReply

J

I would have to see more spoilers. I bought 2 each of two of the Gilt boxes for gifts. I wouldn’t want any duplicates of those boxes.

The starter box + 3 more months is a great price at $105 if the starter isn’t full of really old repeats.

BUT 20% off a 3-month sub is also great. Has anyone tried the school20 code?

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole

I tried that but it doesn’t seem to work for me 🙁

Reply ButtonReply

vanessa

I do like the umbrella…. 😕

Laura

Popsugar is a huge blog/news site as well, not just sub boxes, in regards to the book comments. Anyway, it is like the twilight zone with these OLD, OLD items. Why don’t they make a beginner box for sale on their site for 1st time or one-off buys? Using them for mystery boxes on and off is crazy if there hasn’t been anything new in them for over a year…. It is just plain MEAN at this point! 😂

Reply ButtonReply

Virginia

Apparently PopSugar does not monitor this site unless we are in the minority—–which I doubt. The purchasing agent must have over calculated the number of boxes that would be sold with so much inventory left.

Tat

Did anyone actually read that silly book? Didn’t even bother to pop the cover. It went immediately into the donation pile-at least I’ll get a tax brake from it. I don’t see her as a successful business person. Just look at the comments here to guess why.

Reply ButtonReply

Kim

It never ceases to amaze me how much some women love to bash other women. If you don’t consider her successful then you don’t know Jack about her or her story.

I read the book, it’s nothing profound but it’s a quick read and I enjoy reading how other women found success and balance. It’s something I struggle with as a mom with the entrepreneurial itch.

This has nothing to do with gender but my perception (again, just me) of the recent decline in customer satisfaction of the popsugar brand as it relates to subscriptions; which inevitably reflects on her. That perception is based on customers’ comments as well as my own experiences. Perhaps I did not praised my earlier comment properly.

Taren

I read it also.

Melissa

Thank you for calling it out 🙂

Crystal

You are right Kim. She is a success. With a blog read by millions and a large amount of subscribers for her Must Have boxes she definitely succeeded in what she set out to do. That makes her an entrepreneur and an overall success in my book.

mtvb

Mine went straight to the trash. I wouldn’t dream subjecting an unsuspecting donation recipient with points of view from this–using this term very loosely–“entrepreneur”.

Tat

Your morals are way better than mine…

Teresa

I think this is good, they are trying to reach new people. We are not the audience for this box. 🙂

Cindy

Won’t be buying any Popsugar ‘special boxes’ until reviews show up that indicate all of the old stuff is finally gone!

Really, how much of this stuff do they think we want?

What is going on with PopSugar lately… I have nightmares about hats, wire baskets, and lint rollers! Give the mystery boxes that are not a mystery a rest until forever.. They use to be sooo much fun… I’m still waiting for the Gilt box that took 3 weeks to be sent out and the smart post is a joke. My box left Friday 22nd and I would get until Monday Oct 2nd. It stopped 15 places and in the end FX will drive by my house and drop it at the USPS to deliver it anyway. Ibhave had stuff come quicker from China. The thing is I would love the option to pay a few dollars extra to get it here in half the time. I ordered that darn thing on Sept 6th.
Ok sorry for the crying! I mad at myself for ordering it in the first place. I can’t give anybody these items for Christmas either because they tons of the same %&#¿ last 🎄….

Reply ButtonReply

Ann

Damn. That seriously sucks.

Reply ButtonReply

vanessa

I know the storms effected everything, but products or subs originating from within your home state, should not take 4 weeks to travel. Where are they going? Are they walking to my house?

Even international stuff gets shipped faster!

Reply ButtonReply

Beth L

Ha ha… Mine is coming to ma. I thought I would get it today but……. Nope FX has had in Ct 20 mins away since thursday last week now its somewhere. Just because its says it should be here by Oct 3 does not mean it has to be….I really dislike smartpost. It should be called SLOWPOST.

Setzie

My box sat for a week Sept 22-29. Then Fed ex decided to ‘work,’ it will be here Oct 10. Nice. Nothing in the hurricane disaster areas.

Reply ButtonReply

Sam

Mine too!!!! Mine sat and I had to email PSMH. After they wrote back that they will check on it, it then left the warehouse. They did not ship it 9 days after purchase as was originally told. Now let’s see if I’m missing an item like everyone else. I won’t be able to buy mystery boxes if they can’t handle the sales. Smh.

Teresa

I wish there was a way to give your post a big thumbs up. My nightmares are those eye shadow pallets, winky lipstick, and those think scarfs.

Reply ButtonReply

Beth L

Lol I haven’t ordered a box deal from them since Christmas 2016. My reason for the break down is that it was only 20….and it had the towel or blanket thing everyone was excited about… It was all your posts that made to it… Lololol joking kidding…. ❤

mtvb

👍👍

Beth L

They GOT! Sorry.. Lol

Reply ButtonReply

Renee

Really? Wow.

Reply ButtonReply

Ann

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA…..no.

Reply ButtonReply

Jessica

I am tempted, I only have one umbrella and I could use another actually. I missed the Gilt issue…scared to ask!

Reply ButtonReply

bria

Thankfully I didn’t get the gilt disaster box but thanks to that mess there’s no way I’m buying this one!! I actually don’t have one of those umbrellas or a swan, but if I need one I’m sure I can find it on swap instead of in this mystery box!

Reply ButtonReply

Beth

I have 5 of these umbrellas and that is AFTER swapping away at least 3!

Seriously, who does the buying for these folks that they grossly overbought so many of their items, e.g. umbrellas, swans, runners, stowaway pallets, winky luxes, emoji napkins, hats, sarongs and skinny scarves, mugs, red plastic purses, wire baskets, kids stamp kits, glitter stars on toothpicks, etc. etc. etc……???

Reply ButtonReply

Ramona

Who does the buying? LOL, it looks like you did 😬

Reply ButtonReply

Lauren

I like that these are the spoilers. Everyone got eleventy billion of the HB umbrella in the mystery boxes last holiday season and the book wouldn’t entice an existing subscriber. This is way better than 1 shiny awesome spoiler & 6 mystery albatrosses.

Reply ButtonReply

Bella01

there’s no way no no no. I’m not doing it this time.

Reply ButtonReply

Arden

Oh hell no!!!!!

Reply ButtonReply

Lori

LOL

The intro box is probably great for anyone new to Popsugar. Surely there can’t possibly be anyone like that reading this blog?
I doubt I’m the only one with double, triple and quadruple Popsugar items.
Easy pass. Not even the tiniest FOMO.
