This month SCRIBEdelivery celebrate their second anniversary! They always send a letter explaining why each item was chosen for the box.
This special SCRIBEdelivery sticker is only available in this special shipment.
Cognitive Surplus Learn Beautifully Notebook – Value $10
The paper in this notebook is 100% recycled and is designed to work well with everything from pencils to fountain pens. I really like dot grid notebooks, and this one is a nice larger size. Also, they say that "a portion of each notebook goes towards reforestation and renewable energy initiatives."
SCRIBEdelivery + Story Supply Co Pocket Notebooks, set of three – Value $10
More dot grid notebooks! These were made in York, Pennsylvania. This is a special collaboration version to mark SCRIBEdelivery's second anniversary. They say that "for every pack shipped, one supply kit is donated to a student in a high-need city."
Pentel EnerGel-X Needle-point Retractable Gel Pen – Value $1.28 (buy a 12-pack for $15.41 on Amazon)
The ink is quick-drying to prevent smudges. As a lefty, I found that the ink didn't smudge at all.
Tombow Mono KM-KKS 4B Pencil – Value $2.50
This Japanese pencil uses a soft, thick graphite core to mimic the feel of writing with a brush:
This pencil is really special and is rather hard to find, even in its home country of Japan. It's a Kohitsu Shosha pencil, a type of pencil which is distinctly Japanese. They're made with a thicker than usual graphite core that is also much softer than that of your average writing pencil.
I draw with soft pencils but have never thought to practice writing with one. It wrote very smoothly and would be a great pencil for kanji practice for those studying Japanese.
Pocket Golden Ratio Sticky Notes – Value $12
These sunny sticky notes are based on the proportions of the golden ratio. I like the variety of sizes that were included, though the smallest one is actually a rectangle printed in two different colors, which is cheating slightly. I don't really mind though, as narrow rectangles are a great size for sticky notes.
Verdict: SCRIBEdelivery claims a retail value of $38.85, which is pretty close to my $35.78 estimate. Either way, it's higher than the $29 price of the subscription. I enjoyed all the items in the box, but the Tombow pencil was my favorite discovery. Also, I appreciate that SCRIBEdelivery often sends products that support good causes. This particular box would be a miss if you didn't like dot grid notebooks, but I'm always happy to receive them. I'm glad they made it to their second birthday and I hope they celebrate many more!
