The Secrets of Show Business Success by Chris Lucas - Value $9.99? (Price based on similar product)

Okay, first of all, this book is pretty dated...it was published in 2003. While reading through it, you can really tell just how dated because the entertainment industry has changed so much in the last 14 years. The author, Chris Lucas, has written other books on the industry as well filled with "insider" information based on his experience as a working actor. Sort of a strange "how-to" probably only useful for people trying to get into the entertainment industry.

I Only Know Who I Am When I Am Somebody Else: My Life On The Street, On the Stage, and In the Movies, by Danny Aiello - Value $16.35 on Amazon (List Value $16.99)

As someone who loves movies as much as I do, I actually know who this actor is because it was in one of my all-time favorite movies...Moonstruck. This book is a memoir by actor Danny Aiello which talks about his personal life, as well as about his time spent on the set of many films and stage plays. He talks about his experiences with other actors (Robert Deniro, Madonna, Paul Newman). It's pretty fun to read about these greats, but if you don't know who he is, it's probably not that interesting.

"Movie Night" Notepad - Value $1.99?

This little notepad is perhaps something that is meant for you to take notes on movies that you go and see. I am not entirely sure, actually. I thought it could also be a potential charades type game. Pretty confusing, but I guess not bad to throw in your bag.

Dots Candy, 6.5 0z - Value $1

Have you ever had Dots? These are very good! They are fruit flavored gumdrops that come in a movie theater box. Delicious and a very familiar taste to me. I might be thinking of Dots, though!

"Stand By Me" Blu Ray - Value $7.96

One of the classic coming of age movies of our time. As I am a woman, I always like to use "Now and Then" as an alternative coming of age film for women. Not only is this movie a classic, but it features so many familiar faces from the 80s, some of whom are no longer with us, River Phoenix. If you haven't seen it, you simply must!

"Gone with the Wind" DVD - Value $15.10

WOW, oh wow. Guys, this movie is like 4 hours long. I had never seen it before, but I decided to sit down and watch it the other day and it is indeed almost 4 hours long. Such a great, classic film featuring perhaps one of the first strong female leads in a movie role. While Scarlett O'Hara is a strong woman, she is also kind of terrible. The way she treats these guys in her life is just crazy and to be honest, really mean. Regardless, this is definitely a must watch!

The Verdict: This was the first time I had ever tried Show Biz in a Box, and I have to say that I was rather impressed. First of all, two very classic films included, and in fact, "Stand by Me" was even a Blu-ray which is pretty great. According to the description of this box, the contents should be worth about $60; I calculated the value to be around $52.39, which although lower than the promised value, is good compared to the $36 total box cost ($30 a month + $6 US shipping). If you are a fan of movies and tv, I would definitely recommend this box. Very fun!

This sounded interesting, but really, this box seems like garbage for $30. Two bargain bin movies and two bargain bin books, a beat up looking notepad & a box of theater candy? No thanks.

It’s not garbage, but it’s very dated. I don’t think reading two old books and watching two old movies would provide an inside scoop on “the biz.” Show business is constantly changing. Someone interested in it would do better subscribing to a trade paper like The Hollywood Reporter and following trade websites.

If this box could somehow get an exclusive to the box book or movie, it would be an interesting box.

This was great timing!! Gone with the Wind is the quintessential Thanksgiving Day movie.
