Included was an information card with more information about the items in the box.
There was also some product literature about Petplan pet insurance and coupons for My Little Lion treats.
The last piece of literature was this educational brochure. There was some more information in here about toxic houseplants. A cat my mom used to have ate part of a houseplant once and couldn’t stop drooling until we took her to the vet for a steroid shot. So it is important to keep plants and other hazards in mind when you are thinking of getting a pet!
Dermallay Oatmeal Spray Conditioner by Dechra, 8 fl oz - Value $13.77 (Buy 12 fl oz for $20.66 here)
This is supposed to help you relieve dry, itchy skin in dogs and cats and includes ceramides for moisture as well as colloidal oatmeal for its soothing properties. We have tried this on Nyx (we received it in the dog version of this box), but I think we will reserve this bottle for Monkey the cat, who sometimes has skin issues. Also, if it really does condition his fur, that would be a bonus.
Go Cat Bat Arounds, 3 pack - Value $5.35
Angus likes toys like this quite a lot. He has already played with these some. I am sure I am going to find them downstairs tomorrow morning. You can see a few of them out of the package in some of the kitty photos (at the bottom of this review). These are made from rabbit fur and Angus LOVES rabbit fur.
2 From the Field Bella’s Blissful Hemp Pouches - Value $9.98
These are stuffed with silvervine in addition to catnip. Monkey liked them, but Madison enjoyed them even more. (Madison is a silvervine fiend.) Madison rolled all over them on the bathroom floor and even tried to take a bite out of one of them.
My Little Lion Totally Tuna Recipe, 2.65 oz - Value $3.26
My Little Lion Captain Cod Recipe, 2.65 oz - Value $3.69
Not gonna lie, I am always excited to see these treats in a cat subscription box. My cats absolutely love them. And here we get TWO BAGS! These are semi-moist treats that are pretty much irresistible to my cats. (They like both flavors equally.)
Yeowww! Chi-Cat-A Banana - Value $5.99
Yeowww! toys are always hits with my cats. I put this down in front of Mr. Kitty, and he started licking it. He also tried to bite it. This is the most interest I have seen from him in a toy for a very long time. Monkey liked this one a lot, too.
Go Cat Cat Catcher - Value $5.49
Dangly things on sticks are the best toys. Angus and Sneaky will both play with them. This one had a thin wire instead of a string (the idea being the cat sees the toy but not the string). Since both Angus and Sneaky bit the wire, I’m not sure it was all that invisible, but they both had fun, nonetheless.
Here's Angus with some of the toys from the box and enjoying a treat.
Madison spent a long time rolling on the hemp pillows.
Monkey, like Madison, enjoyed rolling on these toys.
Sneaky liked both ends of the dangly wand toy. And you know Sneaky, she lives for treats!
Mr. Kitty liked this banana. He bit it (which you can kind of see in the first photo). This is the most interest he’s shown in a toy in a long time.
Verdict: I calculated a value of $47.53 for September’s Vet Pet Box. That is a few dollars above the cost of the box on a month-to-month basis and is even better if you have a longer subscription. Please also keep in mind that the prices of many of these items vary considerably depending on which website you buy them from, and the MSRP is probably a bit higher than that. More importantly, though, pretty much every single thing in this box was either useful to me (i.e., conditioner) or downright loved by at least one or two cats, if not more. Even Mr. Kitty got in on the action this time. This box was a huge hit for us.
What do you think of the September 2017 Vet Pet Box cat subscription box? Do you subscribe to any dog or cat boxes?
