Mini Interview with Rachel of Benevolent Beauty Box

What inspired you to start your own subscription box?

"The inspiration came from being a subscription box addict myself as well as a makeup lover. When I switched to cruelty free myself, it was hard finding a beauty box that I was happy with. So, I figured, why not start my own?!"

What was your best day as a small subscription box business owner?

"The best day was definitely launch day when I could finally open subscriptions! The best moment(s) as a small business owner are hands down when I get feedback from customers who are super excited with what they've received. I've had very sweet comments and encouragements and it really hugs my heart! 😍"

I can’t recommend this box. The curator, Rachel, is not the nicest person to deal with. I purchased a “mystery box” and reached out to her. She told me one thing and did another. I don’t have respect for that. Her attitude really turned me off. Hence I felt her mission of “cruelty free” is lost when she doesn’t follow the same golden rule with humans as well. I say practice what you preach.

Dang! Preach it girl! Sorry it was like that! Makes me think twice about subbing

This has easily become one of my favorite subs. I’ve discovered some great products, the personalization is amazing (after a year I’ve yet to receive a color I won’t wear), and the customer service is stellar. I happily just locked in another 6 months with the Black Friday discount and Rachel was quick to help adjust my subs so they wouldn’t overlap. She always responds to questions promptly and is helpful and kind. In a time when it seems customer service is dead, it’s a breath of fresh air.

Wow.

Sure. Too bad her sub isn’t also cruelty free to HUMANS as well, since the curation is not toxin free.

Alexis

Too bad comments aren’t toxin free.

Hi Alexis, does your comment mean anyone that isn’t all positive is toxic? Don’t you believe this forum is for honest feedback delivered in a kind and non emotional way about personal experiences? The effort of sharing is to help others make informed choices. This seller was dishonest with me. You are dealing with just her as it is Cratejoy and anyone on Cratejoy can sell. There is no vetting process and the entire Benevolent Beauty Box staff one person. And she is very defensive. I reached out to Cratejoy and they were apologetic and nice. Although they could not refund me they did send me a $15. Amazon credit for the trouble I had with her (I copied them on the emails she sent me). And my own credit card company refunded me the price of the box when, it turned out, one of the products she sent was also spoiled (the Sugar Scrub in the Mystery box separated and dried out). I have photos if you’d like to see them. So maybe you are friends with Rachel? But don’t dismiss someone for taking the time to let others know. I didn’t tell anyone not to order from her. I let others know what they may experience if you have any kind of problems with BBB and need to contact the curator. Cheers, Lisa

I don’t think that makes it cruel to humans. There are many humans who don’t play into the natural and green beauty hype. The difference there is you get to choose what you use vs animals that are forced to endure the actual suffering and torture. It’s not exactly comparable, IMO anyway.
