There’s not a traditional information card with this box but there was an insert with a little more information about the subscription and also a small card with instructions on how to use the holder that comes.
With this shipment, I received a holder for the fragrance vial. You twist the top part to raise the fragrance up and turn it back the other way to store the fragrance. This way you can simply throw it in a purse without worrying that damage to the fragrance vial will cause it to empty its contents!
You receive a new case every quarter; it will be shipped automatically.
TokyoMilk Dark Femme Fatale Collection No. 10 “Everything and Nothing” – Value $7.88 (buy 1.6 oz for $42)
First off, I already had a small sample of this in my collection, and I definitely think you are getting an authentic product with Luxury Scent Box – the sample in this vial was identical to what I already had. In terms of value, this doesn’t exceed the monthly cost of the box, but that is wholly dependent upon what fragrances you choose. (This happens for me a lot with Scentbird, too.)
This has notes of rose, mandarin, tangerine, white jasmine, peony, muguet (aka lily of the valley), amber, and white musk. It was not an overwhelmingly fruity, floral scent on me, which is great, since I’m not really into the whole fruity/floral thing when it comes to fragrance. This was a little sweet on me (not sure what note or combination contributed that), which I actually like, especially in combination with citrus. I *am* a fan of rose, which is subtle here (at least on me; fragrances are highly dependent upon body chemistry) and of course amber and musk are always great. I liked this more than I expected to!
Verdict: The fragrance I received this month had a value of a little under $8, so it’s not necessarily a bargain, but if you are looking for the right scent for you, personally, that might end up being $40 for a full size bottle or $200 for a full size bottle, and you never know until you try them out. Thus, I think some of the value here is in being able to sample fragrances of your choosing and/or that have been matched to you based on a profile. You receive enough product here to wear it under different circumstances (to work, running errands, out for dinner, etc.), which is nice.
In terms of comparison to similar services, this costs about the same as Scentbird. You get 9 mL here instead of 8 mL as with Scentbird, so you’d receive a little more product with Luxury Scent Box if you opted for the same fragrance. Scentbird and Luxury Scent Box have overlapping but not identical fragrance selections, so the decision may come to who carries the brands you are most interested in trying.
What do you think of Luxury Scent Box? What fragrance did you receive?
