A Girl's Guide to Moving On by Debbie Macomber - Retail Value $26.00 (found on sale here for $15.98)
Another very well reviewed romance novel. From Amazon:
"An inspiring novel of friendship, reinvention, and hope, A Girl’s Guide to Moving On affirms the ability of every woman to forge a new path, believe in love, and fearlessly find happiness."
This book follows two friends (who also happen to be mother and daughter-in-law) and each chapter is from the point of view of either Nichole or Leanne. I really like when authors do this because it shows a more well-rounded story. The story was very easy to get into and is definitely something I plan to loan out to all my friends...and my mom. Also, this version is signed by the author.
Advice From a Caterpillar - Retail Value $14.98
It's saying something that I have never heard of this movie because it has Cynthia Nixon at the height of her Sex and the City fame. I love SATC and Miranda. This is a total late 90's "B" movie...sort of weird, but also sort of sweet. The acting is just okay, but I liked the movie overall. Plus, I am a sucker for Timothy Olyphant. I even ignored my dislike for Andy Dick. The story is that Cynthia Nixon's character and Andy Dick's character fall in love with the same bi-sexual man. Tragedy and comedy ensue.
I'm Still Here (Je Suis Là) by Clelie Avit - Retail Value $25.00 (found on sale here for $17.00)
The starts out sort of weird and sad. You meet the main character through her internal thoughts and find out that she has been in a coma for the past 20 weeks. For the last six, she is conscious, but can't speak or open her eyes yet. She ends up "meeting" someone who slides into her room on accident. He sneaks a kiss. Here is where I have a problem. This stranger comes into her room, reads her chart and knows she is in a coma, and YET he still kisses her on the cheek. NOPE. That's just weird. It gets better, but honestly, that really tainted the story for me.
The Verdict: Once again, I'm not super pleased with this box. I know it's only $9.99 plus shipping for two books and a movie, but it still has not been acknowledged by the company that I ordered two movies and a book. Plus, I didn't even receive the "surprise gift" that is supposed to come in each box. Also, the DVD seemed like it was used...it skipped a little at the beginning. I think this could be better.
