This is my first time reviewing a Pipsticks subscription and I'm freakin' out! I've been sticker obsessed since I came out of the womb and am pleased to report that my passion has carried me through early adulthood with spreadin' the sticker love as one of my favorite hobbies. Life's good. 🙂
Those who have been following along with Marne's Pipsticks reviews might know that the subscription got an overhaul two months ago and they're now including a little zine with each sticker shipment.
The zine opens with a letter from Mo, the founder. I love that her note isn't overly edited nor polished; it reads like an email from a friend (and, I'd seriously love to be Mo's friend).
Flip the page and you'll find pages dedicated to their monthly giveaway and monthly Instagram contest.
Next up is a how-to for making those little paper fortune teller thingies we all knew and loved as kiddos. I made so many in middle school that I think I could whip one out in my sleep, but the step-by-step reminder is awesome! There are also some fun poll answers, with Mo's responses indicated with asterisks.
The back has details on how to earn *free stickers*!! Cue eyes popping out of my head.
Pipsticks includes a postcard each month, and this one features an illustration of a magic eight ball! "All signs point to yes," it says, and I already know exactly who I'm going to send this encouraging postcard to! Word on the street says the postcards usually have a stamp included, but I had no such luck this month.
Piano and Clef Stickers
I'm in love with these teeny-tiny music stickers! They're a collection of grand pianos, eighth notes, treble clefs, and...accordions? Piano-patterned shopping bags? Fancy locks? Not so sure about that other keyed instrument, but sometimes funny anomalies are what make stickers so much fun! The stickers on this sheet are petite, glossy, and about to cover my piano-tuner-husband's life in 5, 4, 3...
Multicolored Sugar Skull Stickers
These sugar skull stickers have super intricate designs and a matte finish. I like that each one is unique, so you can tailor the use of a specific skull sticker to whoever/whatever it's being used for. I think they'd make really cute wine glass markers for a small dinner party (a party of 6, to be exact)!
Colorful Coffee Mug Stickers
Oh my gosh, could the faces on these little mugs be any cuter? The little mug dudes have a distinct Adventure Time vibe to me, which makes my heart smile. I'm especially tickled by the "Party Time" mug—is this sticker implying there's wine in that mug, or are we just celebrating our morning joe? I'll let you make that call, *wink, wink.* These are paper stickers. I can't wait to surprise a few of my coworkers by sneaking a few along the edge of their computer monitors!
Rollerskate Sticker
This is a fun one. It's an illustrated rollerskate and a layered heart (two separate stickers). The skate sticker says "Pipsticks Sticker Club" along the side, which, like, who wouldn't want to be a member of that club? I've never gotten the hang of rollerskating nor rollerblading, so if I'm being totally honest, this sticker makes me kind of anxious, but it'd be a good one to slap on the front of a homemade card and send off to a gal pal. Definitely has a 'girl power' feel to it. *muscle arm emoji*
Starry Gift Tag Stickers
Here are two sheets of paper stickers with a mix of gold foil borders, star accents, and other designs. I've never felt the need to use gift tags on any gift-giving occasions other than for the holidays, but I like that these have holiday-neutral colors to them while still being festive. These would also make great bookplates (the things you adhere to the inside cover of books to be like, "mine!"), especially the larger ones.
Illustrative Cat Stickers
More paper stickers! These are so fun, especially if you're a cat-lover (odds say you are). They feature intricately doodled kitties doing all sorts of stuff, from chillin' in a shoe to looking out the window, to plain ol' napping. Something about the way the black and white ink pops against the brown paper background of these stickers is really appealing to the eye for me, and the simple color scheme lets the fancy patternwork do the talking.
Bright Fun Foods Stickers
These paper stickers are so freakin' quirky! I've seen food stickers before, but they're usually much more cutesy and consist of just fruit or donuts or pizza—you know, simple, traditional stuff that everyone loves. This sheet includes all of those, but also hilarious eats like skewered shrimp, lemon tea, a fruit roll, and a box of leftovers, among other amazing depictions. I feel like each sticker has stand-alone humor, so I can see myself using one at a time to seal envelopes.
Colorful-Haired Girl Stickers
Hey, laydays! This sheet of clear plastic stickers is chock full of sassy gals making kissy faces! The best part is their colorful hair—the second best part is that they're all up to somethin', like taking a photo or wearing a flower crown or donning cat ears. So, so adorable. And, plenty to go around!!
Monthly Prize Ticket
Shucks, no prize for me this month. Maybe next month! Next month's prize is a pink felt letter board. So cute!
Verdict: Pipsticks Pro Club Petite is basically what dreams are made of! This month's envelope included 8 sticker designs (9 sheets total) and a postcard. They're all so incredibly unique and fun! For $9.95 a month with free shipping, this sub's offerings were right on the nose for me. Love it!
