info card for 2017 rebeccamail box

Here's the info card that came with this box. The theme is "Cozy Fall". I'm enjoying snuggling in during these chilly days, and hopefully, the items in this box will help with that!

There's also a card highlighting RebeccaMail's social channels.

Fair Isle Style Wool Socks - Listed Value $15.00

Fair Isle is an actual island in the Atlantic that's famous for its traditional style of knitting. It doesn't say anywhere that these are true Fair Isle socks, but they certainly do have a snuggly look and feel about them—they feel like the kind of thing I'd wear under boots before wandering a chilly shoreline! The info card says they're wool, but they don't have that scratchy, somewhat uncomfortable feeling that I'm used to with wool socks. Instead, they're soft and stretchy, with ever-so-slightly more nubbiness than a typical pair of socks. I love the colors, too!

orange organza bag with bracelet inside pinecone bracelet in dark brass color pinecone bracelet in dark brass color closeup on pinecone charm on a bronze bracelet

Adjustable Pinecone Bracelet - Listed Value $12.00

This might be my favorite item in the whole box! Look how teensy tiny that pinecone is! I've not seen any pinecone jewelry in a subscription box I've received, so this was kind of a surprise. And a happy one at that! The metal of this bracelet can stretch just enough to allow your hand to slip through. (I will say, though, that it's only 2.5 inches in diameter, so larger wrists might not find this to be the most comfortable bracelet...) The loops in the design not only help facilitate the stretching and tension, but they also keep the pinecone charm in about the same spot all the time. I like that, as it means there's less chance of it clanking on my laptop keyboard while I type! I also like that this metal has a distressed, silvery-gold tone to it.

peach colored bath bomb in red ribbon tied plastic package peach colored bath bomb peachy bath bomb

Apple Harvest Bath Bomb by Lotion Fast - Buy 12 for $24.99 here

Bath bombs can be a lot of fun, but the scent of this one isn't quite my style. Apple scents are just a little bit too sweet for me, especially in the bath. That said, it'd make an awesome gift (or topper to a bigger gift) for someone who deserves a little self-care! Though this is an apple bath bomb, it has a pretty peaches-and-cream color scheme and even some gold sparkles thrown in for good measure. In addition to apple, I'm picking up on some hints of cinnamon and autumn spice. I love that it has shea butter and vitamin E on the ingredients list, too! I love when an in-the-tub experience is aromatherapeutic for my mind and nourishing for my skin at the same time!

Love Lilly Designs Head Massager - Listed Value $5.00

A head massager might not scream "fall" in the same way that these other snuggly items and scents do, but who could care?! The feeling of the slender, gentle arms of this tool noodling around my head is instantly calming, relaxing, and just plain rejuvenating for my too-often-ignored scalp. It's easy enough to use on your own head, but if you've got someone willing to be the "masseuse" for you, I bet it'd be fantastic! You could just let your mind and body fade into a happy state of calm.

Pumpkin Cotton Candy by the Cotton Confectionery - Listed Value $5.00

Wow! I totally didn't expect to see cotton candy in a box. (I literally thought it was some kind of body butter at first, haha!) I don't see anywhere just how much cotton candy is in this 4.5-inch-wide, 3-inch-tall tub, so it's hard to pinpoint how to value it. The listed value is $5.00, but they say on the site that a 16 oz tub is $3.25. But all of that said, this particular flavor isn't available on the site! So perhaps the exclusivity of this very unique pumpkin cotton candy warrants a liiiittle more value!

The flavor was milder than I expected—it's almost like a pumpkin spice latte without the espresso, in that it's kind of a creamier, more vanilla-ish version of pumpkin. You can definitely pick up on a hint of cinnamon or nutmeg, but it's low-key. Even after shipping so long, this cotton candy was perfectly fluffy and easy to pick apart. The info card suggests using it as a topper for holiday cocktails. I've been having a White Russian moment lately—how fancy would this look floating on top of that sweet, creamy drink?

pie greeting card pie greeting card inside of blank greeting card back of a greeting card

Exclusive Rebecca Mail Greeting Card - Listed Value $4.50

I know this card is a nod to holiday pies, but all I could think about was Agent Dale Cooper and his beloved cherry pie! (Where are my Twin Peaks fans at?) I take that as a testament to the versatility of this simple little card—it'd make a sincere thank you note for the host of my family's Thanksgiving meal or a quirky holiday greeting for my favorite Twin Peaks fan! It's blank inside, so it'll be easy to customize to my needs.

small body butter jar small body butter jar with barely legible text on label white body butter in small container

Bonus Item: Whipped Body Butter by Swag Boutique - Estimated Value $1.00

There's no listed value for this body butter, and I'm not sure how much product is inside this sample-sized container. I just took a guess at the price it might be. The package is small—it's about the size of a pot of lip balm—but there's enough product inside for several small applications. I kind of loved that the formula looks and smells like a dollop of whipped topping! It's richly scented with vanilla and has a smooth, fluffy texture. It moisturized my dry hands nicely and left a desserty aroma in the air. My only gripe would be that it leaves just a smidge more of a residue behind than I'd like. But if you're looking for a warm, holiday-ready scent, this is perfect! I also LOVE that this product was made by a woman-run small business!

two taffy candies unwrapped taffy candy with green center

Bonus Item: Two Pieces of Taffy - Estimated Value $0.50

These little guys aren't even listed on the info card, but it's sweet (pun intended) that they included them in the box! I couldn't quite tell what the flavor of these taffy candies was intended to be. At first, I thought it would be a caramel-apple taste (based on the color pattern), y best guess is some kind of pistachio treat?

The Verdict: I personally didn't love everything in this month's Rebecca Mail box, but I felt like it was a thoughtfully curated fall box that would bring a smile to plenty of faces! And in that spirit, I feel like anything that wasn't 100% me could easily make a great gift for someone else (and 'tis the season for gifts...). The socks and pinecone bracelet, I'm definitely hanging on to. But the bath bomb or even the cotton candy could make a charming small addition to a gift bag. The card was really cute, too—I like that they always include a unique greeting card a lot. (It keeps me well-stocked for when I need a card in a pinch!)

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No. It looks like they're currently accepting pre-orders for their December box (the last of the Deluxe Lifestyle boxes before they merge with the quarterly program). Sign up to get the next available box!

Coupon - Use code WELCOMEFALL2017 to save 20% off your first box!

Value Breakdown: I paid $41.00 (price + shipping) for this box and estimate that there's around $45.00 worth of products inside (including the bonus goodies and estimating that the bath bomb is worth around $2.00). Since some of the items were exclusives and others were tricky to get a firm price on online, consider that the 8 items (including bonus items) in this box would have an average value of about $5.13 each.

Over here representing Twin Peaks!!!! I’m a huge fan…wish there was a box for it. It could feature the cast figurines, the green owl ring, a TP t-shirt and of course anything pie or coffee related. I would even get a kick out of a can of creamed corn….Garmonbozia, anyone?

This box seems cute, but every time it’s been reviewed, it just doesn’t feel like the value is there. At least not for me.

Also, I can’t stand apple-scented things. I, ahem, overindulged in Crown Apple a few years back and the smell of apples makes me sick now.

Julie

So is it fair to say they didn’t live up to the promised $50 value? Even by their info card it ends up being $46.50… not the best start and the box is $41 after shipping? =/

Anne

Fair Isle style is a method of knitting developed on the actual Fair Isle. It doesn’t mean the socks are actually from Fair Aisle in the way that “Champagne” has to be from a specific region in order to be called that and not sparkling wine. The socks say “style” so there’s really no reason to expect them to be from Fair Isle. They are cute, though!

Thanks for clarifying, Anne! They’re definitely cute. I don’t think I would’ve thought to pair that lime-green color with the deeper, more fall/winter hues, but it really makes the design unique. They’re really soft in person, too 🙂
